Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim
HKSR replied to Provost's topic in Canucks Talk
Yeah, seriously I'll take any team other than Chicago. -
It could if a team is willing to give up 8 to 9 assets for 1 player lol I'm sure EDM would do it if they got the equivalent of: - 1 top 4 defenceman (Duchesne) - 2 1st round draft picks - 2 elite tier prospects (Forsberg and Ricci) - 1 starting goaltender (Hextall) - 2 serviceable vets (Huffman and Simon) Could you imagine? lol

Now you're moving the goal posts (like you always say I do). We were talking about trading Hughes to get 2 to 3 magic beans because it'd be better to have 2 to 3 magic beans than 1 that has already sprouted into an elite player. PS - Detroit is not that much further along than Vancouver. They have a ways to go yet.

That's a pretty dumb approach. By that token, Connor McDavid should be traded for 4 assets of the prospects/picks variety because 4 is better than 1! Because what if McDavid suffers a career ending injury tonight and never plays another game in the NHL! Detroit should trade Mo Seider because who knows! He might suffer a career ending injury tonight and never play another game in the NHL again! Trade Seider for 3 first round draft picks! Definitely better to have 3 shots at producing a player of Seider or Hughes calibre! EDIT: Wait! I know! Trade Cale Makar for 3 1st round draft picks! He is injured and if it happens again, he'll never play another NHL game again! You'll get a chance of drafting a player like Cale Makar! In fact, you'll have 3 shots at it!

You could also look at it this way though: Beauvillier is a pretty consistent 15 goal guy, 35-40pts per year? The one piece of track record he has that would intrigue a LOT of contenders is his playoff performance. He definitely seems to turn it up when the playoffs roll around. So now it is 2023-24, the Canucks are not surprisingly still a bottom 10 team in the league. TDL approaches and Beauvillier is a pending UFA with a typical 10 goals and 20 to 25ish points so far. Canucks decide to offer his services to the highest bidder while retaining 50% for the remainder of the season. You now have a $2M cap hit on a guy that appears to become a much better player in the playoffs (equivalent of a 25g 50pt player). What's that gonna be worth? I reckon we'll get at least 2nd round pick out of him next TDL.

[Rumour] Canucks getting calls on Thatcher Demko
HKSR replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
This trade would probably be a fair one in that I think both teams would not be very comfortable with it (which generally means close to equal value): To NJD: Demko To VAN: Nemec -
