  1. Nah those no argument. They got better both offensively and defensively. Just not sure the increase in defence is that substantial. They were already a really solid team defensively.
  2. Right, what's the cost? What if bringing in Hughes costs them Bratt due to the cap? They need to re-sign: Bratt Wood Sharagovich Mcleod Zetterlund Graves Mercer the year after Who knows what kind of impact there would be if they move on from Haula. He has been very important to their success too. Can't just expect to add Hughes and expect no ripple effect.
  3. I stopped reading after "They are better on the ice with Quinn Hughes... " Right there is a conclusion drawn by YOU. Nobody knows that the NJD will be better with Hughes while losing a good roster player, a top tier prospect in Nemec, etc. People also thought Selanne and Kariya would put the Avs over the top...
  4. Because they were winning and therefore selling out the arena. Isn't that pretty obvious?
  5. Yeah, but they also don't need Quinn to be a bonafide contender. Let's face it, if Luke and Nemec pan out, they are absolutely stacked beyond belief on that blue line. They don't need Quinn at all.
  6. Yeah, very true. Although I think if NJD offered Nemec, Siegenthaler, and a 1st, I would REALLY be intrigued.
  7. Well of course. Like JR/PA said, nobody is really untouchable on this team. If somebody offers a haul for any of our players, we need to look at it from a value perspective. Building value and building assets is what we need to do more than anything else.
  8. If they have a losing season right after, that means the players are failing on the ice. In which case, nobody would care if there are 3 brothers on the team. In fact, they'd probably blame them.
  9. I disagree. Winning Cups is the ultimate marketing tool. If you think having 4 Sutters on one team, or multiple Stromes, or Staals generates more revenue than a Stanley Cup win, you are delusional lol
  10. By developing into a top pair RHD that will help them potentially win playoff rounds. I think he'll be better than Hamilton. When you have: RHD - Nemec, Hamilton, Marino LHD - Hughes, Sieganthaler, Graves 7D - Bahl That's a Stanley Cup winner in my mind. Win Cup = WAY, WAY more revenue than having 3 brothers with the same last name.
  11. The NYI defence was never an issue. They were one of the stingiest teams in the league before Bo even got there. I'm sure starting with possession more often helps too, but Bo was brought in for offence.
  12. Boeser 1-for-1 to NJD for Mukhamadullin. There's a log jam on LHD there -- Sieganthaler, Graves, Bahl, Hughes, Mukhamadullin.
  13. You won't get some crazy haul for Hughes. Quinn is an excellent defenceman, but a team is not giving up 5 or 6 assets for him. I think any package starts with Nemec and a 1st. Then you add in a roster player, and MAYBE a smaller add-on (B prospect or 2nd round pick) So... Nemec Wood 1st 2nd or to make room on the LHD... Nemec Siegenthaler 1st These proposals of Nemec + another top tier prospect + 1st + good roster player would never happen. Nemec is worth so much that I don't even think NJ would move him for Hughes.
  14. February 22nd, 2023, it appears there is not enough chemistry between Barzal and Horvat. After several games, it appears Horvat is not finding the back of the net nearly as much as expected. Why did Horvat score so many goals in Vancouver? Who was his key linemate? J.T. MILLER Lou picks up the phone to acquire existing chemistry... To NYI: J.T. Miller To VAN: Calle Odelius Josh Bailey 2nd Round Pick (2024) Miller and Horvat reunite, and the goals start coming again for Horvat. Canucks acquire a promising 18yo defenceman and add another pick. Bailey is basically a dump for them to make this work cap wise.
  15. Yeah if they keep it up and sign Power and Dahlin to long term reasonable cap hits, they'll be a force to be reckoned with for years.
  16. The only way to really benefit from weaponizing cap space is to take full on cap dumps. Having teams pay sweeteners to take on a bad contract.
  17. Historically, 3rd party retention of $1M to $2M in cap for expiring UFA contracts yielded a 4th or a 5th round pick. Free assets (other than the cost of cap space), but don't expect too much from this. I think the cap space is better utilized retaining on our own players' contracts for the sake of moving them out to acquire higher quality returns.
  18. I dunno about this year. There's talk the VGK might actually be sellers this TDL. They're struggling without Stone, and there's no timeline for his return.
  19. Chychrun is gonna cost a lot of futures (minimum of Lysell and a 1st plus more). Larkin would cost at least a 1st and a prospect or young player as well. Maybe 2024 1st ++ ?
  20. Yeah, we need guys like Kapanen and Beauvillier on this team to round out the higher end talent guys. The Burrows and Hansens to the Sedins and Kesler.
  21. Hughes and Schenn are fine while Schenn is still capable. We'll know we've reconstructed well when OEL and Bear are the 3rd pair. I think we're missing a top 4 LHD and top 4 RHD. I think we could develop PeteyD, Jurmo, Rathbone, etc into a top 4 LHD. The top 4 RHD will have to come from outside the organization. Is Livingstone the answer? Or a UFA (Mayfield, Severson, etc)?
