  1. Tired of hearing the stupid reasoning that waiting until the TDL would GUARANTEE a higher return. There are LOTS of options on the market, and many would be CHEAPER to acquire than Horvat. From a cost-benefit basis, many of these guys below would be better bang for the buck. If you're holding out to try and get a top 4 RHD, top tier prospect, and a 1st round pick + MORE, you're pricing yourself out of this market. Use your head. Think about it from the other team's perspective instead of trying to come up with generalized statements like "OH WE COULD HAVE GOT MORE!!!!11!1!!" Players on the trade block: O'Reilly Larkin Toews Kane Tarasenko Meier Van Riemsdyk Roslovic 1 of Bennett, Reinhart, or Duclair Bottomline is there are multiple avenues of improving a roster at the TDL. Ask for the moon, and you could very well get whatever is leftover in terms of offers.
  2. Only on CDC do people think a 60pt player is garbage. Even at his cap hit, he's not far off in terms of value. MAYBE $500k to $750k off in terms of value. Hardly makes him worthless.
  3. Is this a top 12 protected pick AFTER the lottery? Or before? In other words, could we theoretically move into the 2nd or 3rd spot in the draft via lottery win and keep it for 2023?
  4. I wouldn't do that. We could really use a RHD with that NYI pick. Here's a crazy one that NYR might actually think about... To VAN: Braden Schneider To NYR: Luke Schenn NYI 1st I like the fact that Schneider is NHL tested already. Any RHD we draft would be years of development.
  5. Doesn't have to be a non playoff team. Could be a playoff team with a young RHD waiting in the wings. It's a decent 1st rounder ... not like it's a late one.
  6. Eh, it's one person in particular on here that has been speaking nonsense all day long. I would say who, but I think we all know lol
  7. Armed with a 1st round pick, who would we target? It does open up a lot more options I would think.
  8. Exactly. We retain 50% on him, and he becomes a $2M middle 6 forward with speed and defensive awareness. You're right, it's probably a 2nd round pick at that point. This is worst case scenario. Best case scenario, he finds his scoring touch again and becomes a consistent 20 goal winger.
  9. That's how I see it. He has all the tools (even does well on faceoffs >50% in the NHL so far). Just needs to adapt to North America. Remember, the kid was 19 years old as recent as November. He's very young still.
  10. Just nuts. Can't wait to see the Connor and Connor show in future best-on-best world tournaments.
  11. From what I've seen of him and what I've read, he's a solid 200ft 2-way centre with a scoring touch. TBH, wouldn't surprise me one bit if he becomes a 50 to 60 point, 2-way 2C. Sound familiar?
  12. So we go back to the islanders and Lou says, "we don't NEED him, we're out of the playoff race. What can you offer us in addition to Horvat?"
  13. While we wait for the arms race to pickup and the price for Horvat to increase..... O'Reilly to Avs Larkin to Boston Meier to Carolina Kane to NJ Tarasenko to Pitt Then what? Point is, Horvat isn't the only upgrade for teams out there. ESPECIALLY if you price him so high nobody can or wants to pay. I bet management learned that lesson last year with Miller. Hence the deal happened here 5 weeks before the TDL.
  14. Could be a UFA pickup come the summer
