  1. For those who want to complain about the Canucks third jerseys, have a look at the debacle the Oilers wore tonight. WTF.

I watched for a period and to me it looked like they were out in their pyjamas.  Definitely not T.V. friendly.

Our jerseys actually look fly on the ice though.

Still think we need to remove the the double green stripes. Just have one green stripe instead. Not as bad as everyone making it out to be tho.

  2. Am I the only one who thinks the NHL should outlaw the mouth guard chew?  Looks stupid.

Strap it to their head/face, like they're wearing a gas mask.

I don't think the NHL cares at all about whether or not it looks stupid, but it could be argued as unsafe (akin to playing without a well-fastened helmet, but to a lesser degree), so I could see it becoming a rule some day.

    4. Ghostsof1915

      Ghostsof1915

Look at Russell Wilson in the NFL. He takes his mouth guard out and puts in the cage of his helmet then puts it back in his mouth, after he's called the play. What you do on the bench who cares. As long as they wear it and it helps reduce the chance of a concussion.

@J-23 That is a nasty rumour that I've heard too but I tried to do research on it. One article or two articles (from the same author) included it in his list, while some reddit posters talked about it.

I'm not sure I believe that particular one, but who really knows?

I suggested it about 2 weeks ago... do i get the credit

It makes sense. We get LTIR they get a player that they could really use for their 2-3 year rebuild.

      drummer4now

Statistically speaking the number order matters because it can be perceived as an early indicator of potential/success.

Also because of improvements in scouting you don't find many of those Datsuk or Zetterberg type players anymore buried in late rounds.

    3. Where's Wellwood

I think you misread that. Gaunce is average as a 26th overall pick. There are 26th overalls who have played many more games with much more successful careers.

You're just realizing that now?  That guy is one of the most massive homers in the game.  You always want your announcers to side with your team, but that guy brings it to another level entirely.

And that stupid fake announcing voice that he puts on is grating.

@48MPHSlapShot fair enough. To each their own but was wondering if it was the fake fighting or the other that drew people. My twitter timeline was full of some wrestler dude today so I was asking the question.

    4. 48MPHSlapShot

      48MPHSlapShot

@Stelar It's a performance art, much more akin to something like gymnastics or interpretive dance than any actual fight. It's a stage show with storylines and unique performances unlike any other medium in entertainment that, when done well, can manifest itself in some of the most emotionally gripping television out there.

@Alflives I was at many of the 1994 run games.   I watch that hockey now and think "this is crap".   I think the game has improved.  Players are better, faster, more skilled.   How the league is run is a different matter.

    3. Alflives

      Alflives

      @Screw

Totally agree.  The game has evolved into a much faster one, that's for sure.  (The impact of the high speed collisions I'm not a fan of though)  The Southern US cities might be hurting the game now, but I wonder (if in the long term) they we spread the game?

IKR? Bruins were old and slow just three years ago.

Quality picks in the last 3 years and suddenly they're back in the mix. And other than DeBrusk, the Canucks picked higher in each draft.  This is where Benning can be criticized.

He's looking like the best of Boston's three 2015 1st rounders.

      SabreFan1

Someone getting shot in Chicago is as newsworthy as me getting up 2-3 times per night to pee.  I'm a middle aged man so chances are good it's going to happen each and every night.

Chicago is a city with over 10% of the population of Canada packed in less than 250 square miles and is chock full of scumbags with guns.  Just like with me peeing multiple times a night, chances are good that people are going to get shot and killed in Chicago.

President Donald Skroob once even threatened to send in the national guard if Mayor Emmanuel Moron couldn't get things under better control.

    4. SabreFan1

      SabreFan1

Just checked the population of Chicago.  I thought it had about a million more people than it actually does.  It's population is 2.7 million, so it's just under 10% of the population of Canada rather than over.

I barely wade in there anymore.  To borrow from @Nuxfanabroad, I'll let the dreamers have their fun in the those threads.  The danger is if you spend too much time in those threads then you risk mistaking dreams for reality and get impatient and disappointed with the harsh realities of a rebuild.
