Supposedly going to miss hitting Canada, as its strike zone is all estimated to be south of the 41st parallel.

Goodbye Hong Kong. Nice knowing you....

I love how the RTHK English News site is (covertly? in plain sight? both?) giving their bosses the middle finger, even after the major shakedown that asshole career bureaucrat Patrick Li has given the station. My guess is that most of the new management either hasn't got a firm grip of the English language to realize that the English side is still reporting independently of their newly-imposed requirements, or they have no idea (or can't be bothered) to look at the English side of their website. https://news.rthk.hk/rthk/en/component/k2/1589507-20210506.htm -
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/myanmar-military-disappearing-young-men-1.6014802 Scary $&!#, man. I'm reminded of the protestors in HK who were found "suicided" - either in the water or from the housing complexes, and were likely the work of the police or even covert agents of the ccp operating in HK, meant to silence and intimidate the pro-democracy protestors - but this is orders of magnitude more overt and brutal than that, even if it's under the cover of night.

English spelling lessons for Dummies (I is one!)

How about the same character strings that sound different with different leading letters when read out? Like: rough, trough, and through? Definitely doesn't make it easy for the first-timer. -
What if the Canucks were thinking more broadly - and were thinking of naming the team as "BC ______"? By the way, if they went that route, I would totally vote for either "BC Bigfoot(s)" or "BC Budz", though I suspect the latter may have a harder time getting serious consideration.

Tom Wilson fined $5000... wait, what!?

Don't you just love the negating circularity of denial in their non-response response? -
Forum slower than your average Canuck.

Sounds like "pebkac". None of my access points to this forum are demonstrating slow activity. -

In all seriousness, if I were the Rags' coach, I'd be doing drills on running the opposing goaltender. After all, once you start knocking goaltenders out of the game, the opposing team is bound to run out of qualified goaltenders at some point... -
So is his car still parked in the parkade beneath the rink?

At least for the present administration/governing party.

Although the language is somewhat salty, I applaud the Filipino Foreign Secretary for his direct approach to dealing with a bully. For reference, this was the tweet: Article: https://hongkongfp.com/2021/05/03/philippines-top-diplomat-swears-at-china-on-twitter-tells-beijing-to-leave-disputed-waters/

I totally agree, it's just that there are too many people who want their "free dumb"s back.

By "general", do you mean domestic, or global? Based on expert analysis, it's the latter that counts the most towards eradicating the coronavirus. Until that happens, there will still be the possibility of transmission and mutation. Good luck trying to convince first-world peoples to stay locked down until all third-world countries have had their populations reach that goal, much less an additional 2-3 weeks beyond that.

If the Rt.Hon. were an autocrat, I could see the blame being justifiably placed squarely on him, because as an autocrat he could play the "public health in the national interest" card and start shutting things down, Confederation and Parliament be damned. Unfortunately, party politics the way they are, and with the fact that "his" government has a tenuous hold on governance at the moment (it being a minority government and all), I suspect that his "policies" are wishy-washy specifically because the members of his caucus are pulling him in 153 different directions, in the interest of their own loudest local constituents. Of course, it also doesn't help that the public health "experts" that his government is relying upon are about 15 beats behind the orchestra, and following faulty WHO guidance.

[Rumour] Jake Virtanen Sexual Assault

I think it was @Warhippy who mentioned about Virtanen's shenanigans in the Okanagan last summer. I wonder if he can provide any further insight into the allegations? -

what grade (1 to 10) would you give Travis Green?

Or our team could play clean and between the whistles, and give the zebras and the goofs up in DoP(e)S nothing to charge our players with - because it seems like when our team legitimately and through hard honest work seeks to impose its will, usually "game management" will rear its ugly head, and rarely in our team's favour. Pronger is about the last person to come to mind when I think of a "clean player", and he only gets away with the stuff he does because he is a star player (and probably has friends in high places). If not for the outrage from non-Canucks fans, I'm pretty sure he would have gotten away without penalty for the stomp on Kesler. Perhaps let me swing it this way - maybe we should start "making friends" in high places, like Pronger clearly had. Maybe that's something I could stand behind, even if it's as crooked as bribing and buying out league officials... ...eh, never mind. Watching our team perform the sort of lack of integrity required to "make friends" in those high places would kill me inside. Never mind. -
Ok, but it still doesn't really answer my question of how the information is recorded. I mean, it sounds like it's recorded at point of entry/exit, but how is that info conveyed? If it's not saved on the rf chip, then there must be some means of transmission of the record from point of scan to point of receipt (presumably a Government of Canada office), but I doubt all countries are willing to share traveller mobility information freely with other countries, especially when you have adversarial relationships like we currently have with, say, China. Unless Canada has already figured out 8G cellphone technology plus big data handling, and slipped the technology into our passports...?

With the buffoonery he was able to pull off with minimal consequence (due to his star status), if a similar player were to attempt the same as a Canuck, I guaran&^@#ingtee you the league will come down hard on the Canucks, even if it was our own star, like Pettersson, Hughes, or Horvat - and much more so a sophomore giant with no pedigree like Tryamkin. -
