This machine: was my very first self-bought "home stereo". Lasted me a good two decades as an enjoyable audio system, it did - before the latch on the cd compartment broke. I was still able to use it as a radio (reception wasn't great though), but it didn't come with me during my most recent move. As mentioned earlier in this thread, my sophistication with audio equipment (especially if extensive wiring and connections are involved) is like... zero. Totally looking forward to diving into those links provided earlier. (Thanks again!)

It gets worse - as few as one case at a long term care facility could be considered as an "outbreak", even if source and degree of exposure is not known. And, for the longest time, cases in schools were called "exposures", until multiple cases became too frequent to discount their possibility of transmission, and they had to find a word that seemed less severe than "outbreak". (from http://www.vch.ca/covid-19/covid-19-faqs ) That, plus the government probably wants to downplay the severity of the situations so as to keep the schools open.

Capitals unveil third jersey

If they changed it red, it could almost be mistaken for the Woodwards W sign that used to grace downtown (and now I guess its replacement sits at ground level, reworked with LEDs). -
I hate to sound cynical about it, but a part of me thinks that this is because then the health authorities aren't (at least at this stage) obliged to provide you service at one of their three long-term recovery centres in the Lower Mainland. You need to test positive for it first before they're willing to accept your referral for treatment. https://www.providencehealthcare.org/sites/default/files/PCRC FAQs.pdf

Goodbye Hong Kong. Nice knowing you....

Was undecided to put this post here or in the World Events thread, but since ccp belligerence is already discussed in this thread, might as well toss it here. https://hk.appledaily.com/news/20210124/6QFPQL5KPREBJEJZLKEYB2MYCM/ Seems like before they even tackle the Taiwan invasion issue, they might first be dealing with conflict with other parties in the Pacific. -

But most of the posts come in before him!

I'm not against the notion - from a practicality point of view, though, playing a defensive style as a forward is a lot different than playing defence as a position. The mindset is different, because you're not only trying to break up passes, prevent opportunities, backcheck, and win puck battles, but you're now also tasked with clearing the crease, making the breakout pass from the d-zone, and acting as stand-in goaltender when the guy with the big pads is out of position. This kind of move would be a last-resort move in my opinion (ie. if all taxi-squad D have been deployed and the call-ups from the AHL aren't available yet to join the team due to quarantine or similar).

This. Totally this. And in terms of gaps - don't worry, because the most relevant stuff is in the recent past. Don't worry about having to fill two pages; one page is adequate if it's well-tailored. I would probably also suggest seeking out a mentor in your intended field, or at least someone you trust in the field that you can bounce ideas off of (preferrably on the management side), and do a dry run of your resume with them. Bear in mind, though, that different people could view the same document differently, so make sure that the content is what stands out. Disclosure - I've sat on both sides of the hiring table, thankfully the last dozen or so years on the hiring side and not so much on the wanting to be hired side.

The only way that could happen would be if we annexed Vermont.

About &^@#ing time!! https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/twitter-china-trump-xinjiang-uighur-1.5881613 For a company that has been blockaded from operating in China by the ccp, they're sure tolerant of the ccp's use of their service, despite the subtle untruths and outright lies the ccp spreads via the platform. Glad to see them called out over their bull$&!#, finally!

My late father-in-law was an audiophile. He left behind what appears to be a fairly substantial high-fidelity system that my wife only barely knows how to operate in the man cave, and a lesser system in the master bedroom (which we now occupy) with a few components and a couple of decent speakers. I failed my electrical engineering courses. Multiple times. Needless to say I have a bit of an aversion to things involving extensive wiring, and especially things that require specialized knowledge to set up correctly (or risk blowing out circuits). So, for the novices and uninitiated like myself out there, is there a good resource online or in print that can help me better understand what exactly I have available and how to maintain and operate them so as to not just let them collect dust? (And maybe once I've got those figured out, how to "improve" or expand upon the system to accommodate other inputs?)

Probably pro-rated based on his ELC would be my guess.

Just waiting for him to receive the nickname "Killer"...

Not to piss on your parade, but first of all, that's just for the first shot, which (by some estimates) has about 50% efficacy if the second shot isn't taken, and requires about 14 days for full effectiveness to be demonstrated, and second of all, that's just for those that are in facilites. There are also a large portion of the elderly population that live in their own personal residence, and have various caregivers come to them for which I don't think they've (self-abode seniors + rotating caregivers) gotten priority to the vaccine (yet). It's better than nothing. It probably won't be until the front-line health professionals and mobile caregivers here (and I'm not talking about queue jumping directors and administrators) are vaccinated that I think there can be a greater sense of relief. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/bc-home-care-aides-covid-19-single-site-staffing-vaccine-1.5871993

That's small potatoes. Here's a more serious one: Of course, being half a world away, it already dropped off CBC News' top level page of articles.

Yeah, that's why I said "in my ideal world". One can always dream, right?
-
In my ideal world, the ice fields in the Rockies would be seeing gradual growth over this winter and the next few decades, so that the receding glaciers would reverse their trend, and the Prairies would get better flow from snow melting in the Rockies, so that they don't become the next new desert.

If this gets adopted, I'll be waiting for the first instance someone pulls this...

I somewhat agree, but I also think that if the local infrastructure isn't ready to accept the doses, then the feds would need to find a way to store the doses that the provinces aren't yet ready to be received locallay. I contend that the jurisdictional considerations play a fairly significant role, and it's probably also a bit of a chicken/egg situation.
-
Please see above (I somewhat anticipated this sort of response )
-
There's also the matter of the fact that we're a federation of individual jurisdictions, with somewhat defined roles for each, and the feds don't have carte blanche to do whatever they want at the provincial and territorial level, much less at the health district level. The amount of coordination for such a command chain is enormous compared to a centrally-governed nation.
-
There's also a matter of population density and mobility of population. The way we're spread out, it's going to take some time to get things delivered, much less injected.

Not sure if it was mentioned (and I'm not going to crawl back 100+ pages to see if it was), but I was impressed when McOMMFG tried to chase and check him behind the net (I think it was after Elias stole the puck from him off the side boards), and then Elias fake shifted one side, deked up the other, and then McOMMFG stumbled while Elias took off and left him behind in the dust. Epic.
