  1. Correction - Mike Sillinger has that title: 12 teams. JJ, for all his team swaps, only collected 9 teams' jerseys.
  2. Maybe he's trying to pull a Jaromir Jagr and is seeking to collect as many different NHL jerseys as possible...
  3. Source? The Lancet (which is a peer-reviewed medical journal) seems to suggest otherwise.
  4. They should fast-track the visit to the White House, see if they can't increase the viral count in PotUS before the election and create another super-spreader incident.
  5. I'm borderline obese, have a laundry list of ailments dating back to childhood, am still dealing with the aches and pains fallout of many multi-vehicle accidents over the past decade+ (all of which, I should mention, were ruled by ICBC to be not my fault) - but the centre of my happiness is my relatively good health (heh) and the fact that I'm still able to provide for the needs of me and my family (physically, emotionally, and financially) is what makes me happy. That, and the fact that I have a relatively clear mind, even though some of the things stuck to it are blood-boilingly frustrating (such as the prevalence of stupidity and idiocy in the world). I suppose I could be happier if I ended up with some sort of loss of empathy and capacity to think, because then nothing would matter to me any more...
  6. This country has so many other priorities to attend to, having nukes (and actually more importantly, maintaining them) would just take away from addressing the real issues we should be spending our tax dollars on. If the military needs more firepower to play with, if the money has to be spent on national defense, I would probably think that more capable conventional surface-to-surface and air-to-surface munitions, and cyberspecialists with access to top-end computing equipment would be a better way to spend that money (and not necessarily in that order).
  7. Beer league, where if you couldn't play worth $&!#, you'd better be damn good at drinking.
  8. Yeah, it's this trade tree that I'm curious about, especially as to whether or not any lingering residual assets are still floating around from it.
  9. I'm curious to know if the return trade tree has fizzled out yet. I know the players selected with the three draft picks traded have all now retired, but I'm thinking there's got to be some branching from further trades that are still active players.
  10. The interviewee raises some very good and insightful points. Although I don't entirely agree with his political perspective (but then again, I'm not an academic studying HK law / political systems), it's clear he's put in some very deep thought into his academic domain (law). https://hongkongfp.com/2020/10/18/interview-law-prof-and-rights-expert-michael-davis-says-beijing-putting-severe-pressure-on-hong-kong-courts-security-law-a-rights-violation/ Makes me wonder exactly which side of the coin our own former Chief Justice the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin falls on - trying to stay on to ensure rule of law as the underdog in a losing cause, or deeming rule of law there is dead already but choosing to stay on to ensure the guise of rule of law to protect Canadian interests and inadvertently strengthen the illusion of legal legitimacy for an illegitimate and undemocratic regime that clearly wants to do away with a common law court system in order to harmonize with the northern civil law system.
  11. Dinosaurs. But they're already dead. I suppose fossils count too. No wait, they're also dead.
  12. I'd totally sign this goat: Wouldn't you? Such a cute little thing...
  13. I wonder how many pages the Tommi Santala thread ended up being... ...though he's not really a FA signing. Just "the best 4th line centre money could buy".
  14. There should be a "Canucks stories you've never heard about dredged from Burrard Inlet" thread.
  15. What's really funny though are those right-wing small-government nutjobs that complain about how the government is trying to control the little guy and how they should let business be business, let capitalism principles rule, and stop putting in all these regulations and controls... ...but OMMFG, the economy is going belly up? WHY THE F IS GOVERNMENT NOT BAILING OUT OUR [insert local] INDUSTRY? WHY AREN'T THEY SAVING OUR JOBBBBBBSSSSZZZZ!!1!!two!!
  16. You sure it's not Mike Milbury? We could even give him a shoe to work with...
  17. The sad thing about fiscal conservatives nowadays are that they are too focussed on one side of the ledger - the expenditures side. What they miss out on from their myopic approach is the revenue side. You can't have a balanced ledger just by cutting expenses and neglecting revenues. You also can't have sole reliance on a small handful of industries to drive your revenues. Just wait until the bottom really falls out on fossil fuels. Too bad they're too tunnel-vision on "the devil they know" to be bothered to think about diversifying.
  18. Methinks this thread belongeth in White Noise. Yea?
  19. Waiting for USAF to do a seek-and-destroy mission using a couple of Sidewinders launched from an F-15...
  20. But it's more than just making it to the threshold of showing up to camp in shape. If I were GMJB, I'd be telling coach to keep Jake on a super-short leash, and that the time for tough love is over now. Every day and every night, on and off the rink, Jake will need to perform, perform consistently, portray the consistent professionalism expected of someone who is a 5th year pro, or Jake will find himself on the first flight to Utica (or some other team willing to give him the chance). As GMJB, I would know that we're now heading into our window, and there will be no seats for passengers moving forward.
  21. That's right, 7por - go sit in the isolation corner, and don't spread your germs! And while you're at it Winnie the Pooh, hope you choke to death from the Wuhan coronavirus!
