You had me until here. No way in hell does Edler accept that term/$, nor should he. If he's only getting a 2-year deal, it's gotta be at least 5. That seems to be the going rate for an over-30 top-4 D-man, especially if you're not a contender (for comparison, look at recent 2-year extensions to Mike Green and Niklas Hjalmarsson). I'm all for extending Edler on a 2-3 year deal. He's still our best defenseman, and would be a nice veteran insulator to Hughes and Juolevi. Ideally we could move him at the deadline and bring him back, but if just keeping him ensures a good deal, that works too.

Glad to see Orlov has awoken from his annual early-season slumber. 10 fantasy points in October, 36 in the first half of November. Similar with Colin Miller, who has 30 points already in November, after only 21 in October. -

Minnesota has too many forwards. We are open to offers on the following: Brad Richardson - 38 Fpts Mikael Frolik - 37 Eric Fehr - 30 Oskar Sundqvist - 15 (in only 7 games played)

IMO, nothing holds a candle to Tom Waits. His words paint portraits of another world, far from mine...filled with shady characters I've never met, and yet somehow now know... Well, they surrounded the house, they smoked him out, took him off in chains The sky rained black and blues and we had months of heavy rains Now, the ravens nest in the rotted roof of Chenoweth's old place And no one's asking Cal about that scar upon his face 'Cause there's nothin' strange about an axe with bloodstains in barn, There's always some killin' you got to do around the farm - Murder In The Red Barn Behind a smoke colored curtain, The girl disappeared They found out that the ring was a fake A tree born crooked, Will never grow straight She sunk like a hammer into the lake A long lost letter and an old leaky boat Promises are never meant to keep And I want to know the same thing I want to know How's it going to end? The barn leaned over, The vultures dried their wings The moon climbed up an empty sky The sun sank down, Behind the tree on the hill There's a killer and he's coming through the rye But maybe he's the father of that lost little girl It's hard to tell in this light And I want to know the same thing Everyone wants to know How's it going to end? Drag your wagon and your plow, Over the bones of the dead Out among the roses and the weeds You can never go back, And the answer is 'no' And wishing for it only makes it bleed - How's It Gonna End

Columbus is happy to add Ty to the fold. He had a great camp, and has had a nice start to his pro career in the AHL. And his play style should score well in this league.

Columbus is in discussions with a couple teams over Sergei Bobrovsky. So if you need a franchise starter...

Kings' Farm Team Report Some of the highlights among L.A.'s signed prospects in the past month... 1. Ethan Prow, D - AHL: 11GP, 4G, 5A, +11 Ethan has surprised the organization this year. He has quietly been putting together a monster of a season, and will likely end up getting a call-up at some point. 2. Mikhail Vorobyev, C - NHL: 7GP, 1G, 1A / AHL: 3GP, 1G, 1A Mikhail played decently in his stint in the bigs, and has continued to play well after being sent back down. We expect him to be an NHL regular next season. 3. Michael Kapla, D - AHL: 12GP, 6A Michael's offense has jumped nicely so far in his 2nd pro season - from 1/3 PPG to 1/2. 4. Emil Pettersson, C - AHL: 13GP, 4G, 5A His brother is setting the league on fire, but Emil is still steadily producing at the AHL level. Seems only a matter of time/injury before he sees his first NHL action. 5. Patrik Virta, C/RW - KHL: 21GP, 2G, 7A Patrik moved from Liiga to the KHL this year, and for a 22-year-old rookie his season is going quite well. Next month the focus will be on unsigned prospects (SPOILER ALERT: Ian Mitchell will be #1). -

Good to know, thanks! For future reference, does their waiver eligibility also mean they won't have a cap penalty in the minors? (if over $1.025M) -

Par Lindholm turned 27 on October 5th, which should make him eligible for waivers...right? @Nail -
Big night in Columbus. I guess the one benefit of having 5 injured guys is I could make room for the call-ups, and all chipped in, one even dominated: Barclay Goodrow - 14.5 points! Nick Seeler - 2.75 Matt Luff - 1.5 William Carrier - 1.0 If Goodrow has more games like that, I'll have a decision to make over the next 10 games, before his waiver ineligibility expires.

Geez...sure glad I traded Brian Boyle. -
Thanks to @Salter and @canucklax for the negotiations, and @Master Mind for processing. Columbus had a lot of young forwards starting to play in the NHL, but no young D who were quite ready. So we started poking around for some waiver-ineligible D who were playing for good/decent teams, and managed to find a couple of deals worth making. Dermott hasn't started well this year, but I'm a big believer in the player, and think he'll have a solid future (especially next year, when the cap gets tighter in TO. Plus Toronto is a legitimate contender, so having a waiver ineligible player from them has an expected premium. He may not provide the hits/blocks to ever become an elite producer, but we expect he will be a valuable player for a long time. Seeler was a guy I've taken notice of recently. Doesn't produce a lot of offense, but his game style translates well for the Puck scoring system. And in with limited games played he seems to have passed guys like Pateryn and Prosser on the depth chart, so there may be more upside coming. Although I don't view Minnesota as a contender, they are playing quite well, so should at least be a 1st round playoff team. Talvitie was someone who I didn't want to give up, as he has been getting lots of accolades recently... but considering I snagged him with a 5th rounder less than 6 months ago, this is a terrific turnaround for value. Long-term I may regret moving him, but the window in Columbus is now. It's also nice to have a couple 2019 picks - yesterday I had none.

Thanks to @Mike Vanderhoek for the smooth negotiations. Moving Killorn was one of the "retool/rebuild" moves we planned on making this year. He is definitely valuable as a playoff asset, but his general production has been steadily regressing, so he wasn't in our long-term plans. We had been in talks with a few teams, but eventually NYI's offer of Mitchell was too good to pass up. He is a high-end young D-man, on a team that has suddenly amassed a number of them. In fact, Chicago may be the next Nashville, once Boqvist & Mitchell join Jokiharju, Gustaffson, and Forsling. Kings recall Miikka Salomaki to fill the vacant forward spot - @Nail. I had originally planned on keeping him in the minors as a playoff call-up option, but he's been playing well and getting steady depth production, so Miikka has earned a regular spot in the line-up. Plus I really enjoyed his debut album. -
Blue Jackets are hanging in there, despite injuries to Victor Hedman, Viktor Arvidsson, Derick Brassard, and Zac Rinaldo. One thing that has helped is a number of young forwards getting into NHL games recently, including Michael Amadio, Maxim Mamin, Rourke Chartier, and Matt Luff. However, I had hoped for the same with some higher-profile D prospects, like Daniel Brickley and Devon Toews. I would be interested in a deal to package 1 or 2 of the above forwards with another D prospect for a single, waiver-ineligible D who is playing NHL games.

Thanks to @Primal Optimist for the smooth negotiations. As well as Rittich has been doing lately, Dubnyk is our definite starter, and Korpisalo is our goalie of the future. So Rittich had to go eventually. I had shopped him for a while, and hoped to get a bit more for him, but Green isn't a bad consolation prize. If he can stop getting injured, he has the skill to turn into something solid. I also figured if I had to let Rittich go for less than I wanted, Primal was the guy who deserved him. Last year he traded me Korpisalo, and the primary piece that went back (Condon) couldn't have gone much worse for him. -

There's a reason Hughes' offensive stats are down slightly. He - and his team in general - are focusing on their defensive game. And by most accounts, it's going well: https://www.michigandaily.com/section/ice-hockey/michigans-defense-stepped-well-its-discipline (need to fill out short survey to read) One of Hughes' biggest criticisms was that he roved too much, and his freewheeling style would get exposed at the pro level. So this should be seen as a positive development.
