  1. Oh yeah - they were switched with Detroit at the end of last year. Alright - GTFO of my way, Rags!
  2. Yup. I have re-signed my team as having no chance of winning the division until 2019-20.
  3. Neither had I. As someone who is 1) allergic to cats & dogs, and 2) a landlord, my first thought was: "What a great idea!"
  4. I like Dzierkals, and think he'll return to NA at some point. But needed some contract room. Another similar deal to follow. There's an interesting loophole in the CBA, which Toronto seems to have taken advantage of twice this year (Aaltonen + Dzierkals). By signing them to a 1-year deal, then not offering them a contract and having them go back overseas, Toronto can actually retain their rights until they are 27 without using a single contract spot.
  5. Well this is a nice surprise... Columbus terminates to the contract of Austin Ortega, who signed with the Vaxjo Lakers - https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/121863/austin-ortega @Jaku @thejazz97
  6. Thanks to @inane for the negotiations. On the one hand, Grubauer has a path to become the starter on an Avs team that is trending well. On the other, the Avs probably won't truly contend for 2-3 years, and my window is open now. I felt getting the undisputed #1 goalie on a perennial contender with only a $5.75M cap hit was worth parting with some solid futures for. However, as cool as a Bobrovsky-Jones tandem sounds, we don't plan on keeping both. Bobrovsky is probably the best goalie in the NHL today - he's the only active goalie who has won the Vezina more than once. But he requires a new contract, and our cap is tight. So... Columbus places Sergei Bobrovsky on the block.
  7. Columbus Blue Jackets - Preseason Report It was a bit disappointing to see Daniel Brickley, Michael Amadio, Devon Toews, Denis Gurianov, Emil Pettersson, Matt Luff, and Matt Read all end up getting cut at camp. But on the other hand, almost all of them were among the last cuts, and had strong preseasons. We expect most of them will still get opportunities to play this season. But the big surprise so far has been Rourke Chartier, who looks to have secured the 4th line center spot in San Jose. There were times last season when it looked like Chartier's career was in jeopardy, as he struggled with concussion issues. But he looks to have fully recovered, and not lost a step in his development. David Rittich winning the back-up role in Calgary again was not as much of a surprise, but was still a definite positive. It is also reassuring to get through the preseason healthy. Brian Dumoulin may not be ready to start the season, but other than that, everyone is ready to go. Bring on the regular season!
  8. Wow - didn't realize the strict waiver rules here. But that's a good thing though - prevents stashing.
  9. Salomaki shouldn't require waivers. He's 25, and has only played 125 NHL games so far.
  10. Minnesota also revokes their claim on Aberg. I thought waiver order would eventually go to reverse order of standings, so I expected to have a good spot later in the year. I like "Pope", but not enough to spend the year at the back of the list.
  11. Michael Frolik is on the block for Minnesota. Steady producer on a likely playoff team, who will get SH point bonuses. Willing to retain 50% for the remainder of his contract (so will be $2.15M x 2).
  12. At first I was confused, but then I realized it was in reverse-order, and went by the original draft positions (not counting the various swaps).
  13. We were totally taking Vorobyev if you hadn't. We let him slide further than we should have, but thought he'd be off most radars.
  14. So...we're "last" in weakest line-up...so does that make us 1st again?
  15. Very happy to supplement our forward depth with these 5 vets. They will plug holes, and teach the young guys how to be professionals. Our previously announced line-up was: Turris was traded for Zykov. To make room for the 5 new veteran forwards, we place Martin Hanzal (out until at least late-November/early-December), Oskar Sundqvist (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/4583/oskar-sundqvist), and Martin Bakos (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/6149/martin-bakos) on injured reserve. We also send down to the minors C.J. Smith and Mathieu Joseph (no waivers required for either). That makes the current line-up: Valentin Zykov - Dominik Kahun - Viktor Arvidsson Leo Komarov - Brad Richardson - Michael Frolik Andreas Johnsson - Nate Thompson - Tom Pyatt Eric Fehr - Jason Dickinson - Michael Haley Oscar Lindberg, Austin Watson (SUSPENDED) Victor Hedman - Jacob Trouba Miro Heiskenen - Ryan Pulock Ian Cole - Philippe Myers Tucker Poolman Philipp Grubauer Joonas Korpisalo (I/R: Martin Hanzal, Oskar Sundqvist, Martin Bakos)
  16. If it's based on who has the weakest current line-up...we're 1st!
  17. You know you can PM me too, right?
  18. ... That said, great trade. Any time you can get a top guy from the fantasy draft (13th overall) - without giving up one in return - is a definite win. And Pasta is only 22 - the sky is the limit for him.
  19. You came, made a storm of (often questionable) trades, and bolted... ...and you want to do it again? I hope the commish team will favour GMs who commit to the long-haul.
