  1. The Fall Season 1&2 - 9/10 Season 3 - 7/10 Such an interesting character study. The first two seasons are packed with surprises, and the plot continually evolves and goes in new directions. The 3rd season has a really clever twist, but sputters with pacing. But overall, an excellent series.
  2. This came up last year, and the Commish team confirmed that rule does not apply in Puck (like most rules!).
  3. It seemed last year that Hitchcock didn't like him much. His ice time and situational use took a big hit. Still think he's an above average 3rd liner. So if he maintains that, the contract isn't that out of line.
  4. I didn't realize we got points for underlying numbers, PK TOI, and faceoffs...
  5. I felt similarly with Season 1, and even the first half of Season 2. But my advice is to stick with it. It really starts to find its legs by the end of Season 2 - the stories become more varied and interesting, and it gets much funnier too. From the back-half of Season 3 on it is awesome.
  6. Columbus Blue Jackets place Zac Rinaldo on the block. Rinaldo didn't play every game last year, but was very productive in the ones he did (151 fantasy points - 2.85/game). He signed with Nashville this offseason, reuniting him with coach Peter Laviolette, for whom he had his most productive seasons under. We're interested in seeing what he'll do, but at the same time we have too many roster forwards, and want to create space. Highest pick offered gets him.
  7. Day With The Cup - Victor Hedman Last week Columbus Blue Jackets' star defenseman Victor Hedman had his day with the cup. Most people don't know this, but Victor's always dreamt of being a male model. He loves hockey, and it pays well, but upon retirement he had a secret plan to hit the runways. He spent years honing his signature look, now known as "Blue Jacket Steel"... However, a freak accident at the World Hockey Championships last year to his '2nd money-maker' ended his future hopes... But Victor's feelings for fashion never died. So what better way to spend his day with the cup than with his two loves?
  8. Anybody who doesn't understand why Tryamkin - with a young expecting her first child - jumped at the opportunity to play for his hometown team doesn't know anything about what a big deal your first baby is. Family is very involved, and it is really helpful, especially for the wife. So this was perfect for his family. I mean, for a hockey player in his early 20's to have the chance to choose to play professional hockey in his hometown is awesome in itself. And the fact he could do it at the perfect time for his family made it too good to turn down. All the other stuff (abandoning a loser team, not liking the coach, not liking his icetime, not liking Vancouver, not fitting in with teammates, etc, etc.), may or may not be true. But even if his situation in Vancouver was better, he may still have decided to take the KHL offer. There are still lots of years left to play NHL hockey down the road.
  9. Stayed up last night and watched it. There's a perfectly decent (albeit corny) Star Wars movie here in the first 30 minutes and the last hour. But that hour in the middle was JarJar-level garbage. Just aimlessly stalling, and filling in the blanks with cheesy alien crap.
  10. Perhaps...that would definitely explain Luca Sbisa's play.
  11. I love pretty much everything by The National since Alligator...but sometimes I wish they'd rock out like this more often.
  12. Seriously? 3 goals and 9 points in 14 games. Before getting prime time with the Sedins for their swan-song, Gagner was on a 25-game goaless streak.
  13. Oh boy, I bet the free agents are going to be lining up now... Also, if memory serves me correct, all players who are in your minors that are waivers eligible need to either be brought up or clear waivers again just prior to the season. So you can't just stash guys in July and leave them there.
  14. Thanks to @Jaku for the easy negotiations, and to @Salter for processing. This came together right away, and is a perfect fit for both teams. We like both Sobotka and Schaller, who provide great production in this league for their respective salaries, and had planned to have them on the team for the year. However, recent events strongly suggest that neither will be available in the playoffs, and that's really the main goal of the team for at least one more season. Although Brassard may not score much more Fpts than either player, we expect him to be valuable when we need it most. And after this season we need to clear some cap, so Brassard's impending free agency is actually a positive.
  15. I hadn't noticed - thanks. May watch it this week. I've been all about murderers lately, for some reason. The Killing is alright (leaves Netflix Aug. 1st though, so have to stick with it if I'm going to finish it). The Fall is outstanding.
  16. But how would you know this? And how can you assume it should be anything remotely resembling your business?
  17. Here's one problem I have with the Voynov "boycott"... He did something absolutely terrible...once. His wife stuck with him though, and seems to have forgiven him. There is no indication that he has continued to abuse her. But since it happened, his ability to earn income has been impeded. This has no doubt affected the standard of living for his wife as well. So really, the continued "boycott" of Voynov is punishing his wife too. It is like a giant red flag to every woman who has suffered abuse, but wants to continue with her spouse, to keep her mouth shut. I don't agree with that. If his wife has forgiven him and the abuse has ceased, let him earn his living. True, he may be at heart still a bad dude, but I'm willing to bet the same could be said of a lot of the guys in the league.
  18. Blue Jackets went into free agency with the goal of adding prospect depth on the wings, and at least one more D prospect. We made offers to 6 players, and are extremely happy to have been able to land 4 of them. Particularly Suess and Kovacevic, who we see as nearly NHL ready guys for a really good Jets team. Nilsson is also an interesting player, who may play right away. Jeannot is the most long-term of the 4, but he's a big guy who we could see making the Predators' bottom-6 in the next few years. That pretty much finishes our FA fishing, as we're at 47 contracts and want to maintain some flexibility there (perhaps an unsigned prospect or 2 will surprise at camp). But overall, management is very satisfied with the current roster for next season. We have too many forwards though, so we'll probably look to shed one or two depth guys this offseason: Brad Marchand - Mark Scheifele - Phil Kessel Eric Staal - Nazem Kadri - Viktor Arvidsson Patrick Marleau - Mathieu Perreault - Michael Frolik Vladimir Sobotka - Matthias Janmark - Danton Heinen Tim Schaller, William Carrier, Zac Rinaldo, Matt Read Hedman - Niskanen Orlov - Girardi Cole - Benn Brickley Bobrovsky Grubauer Prospects (italics = unsigned): C: Amadio, Pettersson, Batherson, Foudy, Chartier, Rymsha, Hebig, Dostie, Talvitie, Musil W: Gurianov, Suess, Nilsson, Dzierkals, Luff, Drozg, Ferguson, Hutsko, Ahl, Smallman, Jeannot, Okuliar D: Toews, Martin, Kovacevic, DeSimone, Stenqvist, Tuulola, Johansson, Nyberg, Phillips, Gordeev G: Rittich, Ustimenko Remaining cap space: $2.37 million 2019 picks: 5, 5(LAK) 2020 picks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
  19. Blue Jackets thank @thejazz97 for the smooth negotiations. But most of all, thanks to @Art Vandelay for reminding us to get these done before the offer sheets came. (I especially like how you tried to hide Carrier with asterisks.) I was a little ticked that you kept betting against us with other GMs, but this more than makes up for it. You're now off the list...
