[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Seattle Kraken | Oct. 27, 2022
D-Money replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Even though we got the win, that game put me firmly in the “Team Tank” crowd: 1) Seattle is not a good team 2) They still outplayed us. Heavily outshot us, and their goals came off of smart, quick transition plays. 3 of our goals were just plain lucky bounces (2 of them off defenders right to Mikheyev). 3) Now Miller is hurt Even if we get back in the playoff race, this team is not good enough to win anything. Bedard - and maybe even the guys at #2-5 in this ridiculously deep draft - could change that. Long term, it’s for the best.- 580 replies

Myers is just sooooo dumb. I thought dumping it in to change in 3-on-3 OT was bad, but then to touch the puck when you had a free pass to finish the game? Just moronic. -

[Proposal] Shipping Miller out to Boston (whoa)
D-Money replied to Coconuts's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I’ve gotta say, Boston is probably the best fit to trade Miller. Not bad. I’d strongly consider that myself. However, I just don’t see us trading Miller AND Horvat, and going full scorched-earth, especially with no top-6 centres anywhere in the system. Horvat makes a lot of sense to move at the deadline, and without a big extension in place, we probably get a better return for him. -

It’s been downhill from there for Blackwood tonight - 5GA on 18 shots. -

I’m a fan. Their lyrics are great… ”I am not Jesus, but I have the same initials” -

Locking up? Look at the state of the team… We shouldn’t be locking up anyone over the age of 25 who is a part of this mess. Miller’s extension and play may make him unreadable. Horvat, Schenn, and Kuzmenko are the chips we have to play at the deadline, to finally start rebuilding this mess the right way. -

At this rate, Bo will probably be the #1 centre on the trade deadline boards. So glad we didn’t extend him too. Changes need to be made. -
As I said in the Dickinson thread, the best course of action was to let him play this year, and hope last year was a one-off. Wasn't happy we paid a 2nd to get rid of him. (Don't see Stillman as having significant value.) Sure enough, Dickinson with 2 assists in his first game this season. Both short-handed. But who needs an effective penalty killer, right?

He's been slow, lazy and sloppy. That ain't gonna get better in his mid-30s. If this whole situation doesn't improve drastically, we are best served trading him for whatever we can get, just to avoid a Loui-like albatross in the not-to-distant future. -
Welcome Paul! Already making an impact, too.

They said in the broadcast that Canucks had the 2nd best PP in the league from the time Boudreau took over. So…maybe not? -
Carolina places Carl Hagelin on IR (same link as above), and recalls Reese Johnson.

[Signing] Flames re-sign Mackenzie Weegar
D-Money replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yup. It may happen sooner than people expect. Look at San Jose. Everyone knew the fall was coming, but they sure didn't expect it immediately after handing Erik Karlsson $92 million. I suspect Flames will be solid for a couple of years. But the pain will likely start coming before the contracts they handed out to Huberdeau, Kadri, and Weegar are even halfway done. -
Thanks to @Bombastik der Teutone for the negotiations. Forbort was quite productive last year, been perfectly happy with him. But needed to clear some cap to ice a full roster, and after acquiring Hamonic recently I had simply too many defensemen. This helps both sides.

With a pending trade freeing up some cap space, Carolina calls up Michael Pezzetta and Reese Johnson. Starting lineup is now: A. Ovechkin - N. Kadri - R. Smith A. Lee - C. Smith - T. Moore J. Martinook - R. Colton - M. McCarron N. Deslauriers - T. Lewis - R. Johnson R. Zohorna, M. Pezzetta V. Hedman - J. Faulk R. Gudas - N. Schmidt A. Edler - D. Mayo T. Hamonic A. Vasilevskiy B. Elliott

[Waivers] 9 players - Oct. 06, 2022
D-Money replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah, me too...if he falls to us. We should have room with the Boeser and Mikheyev injuries. But I suspect he will get claimed by Philly. It's not like he hasn't been able to do it at the AHL level. The last couple of years he has dominated when sent down (last year 6 goals in 4 games). -
Unbiased relationship advice please :(
D-Money replied to CanucksFan#21's topic in Off-Topic General
This was likely the problem with your relationship. You can try to do it online, but it's simply no substitute for real, in-person contact. Whatever the reason (Covid happened, there's no going back), you have both grown and changed over the time you have not been together. You are both not the same people you were a few years ago. As much as you desire to recreate what you had a few years ago, it's gone. But dropping emotional weight is similar to physical weight. It takes time, and dedication. Endlessly pining over what was or could have been is like eating emotional junk food. You will undo your own efforts to move forward with your life. Best to start letting it go, as much as you can. -
Bo's before Ho's

Dubas isn't the sole reason - Leafs fans pumping up their players when they haven't won a single playoff round is also a big part of the problem. But once the cap starts going up at the speed it is expected to, contracts will too. Locking your key players up at the right time can make a huge difference. Boston is a good example of a team that had multiple elite players signed long term for cheap due to the timing of when they signed them. Whereas Toronto signing a trio of big deals right before Covid put a damper on the cap really hindered their ability to add to their core. I think with Canucks signing Miller, inevitably Pettersson, and possibly even Horvat right now, before the large increases, in a few years they will all look like bargains compared to where the cap will be.

Pretty sure I drafted him. Was looking pretty good in NCAA, but it didn’t transfer to the pros. 2019-2020 NCAA (B1G) Defensive Player of the Year NCAA (B1G) First All-Star Team NCAA (B1G) Player of the Year NCAA (B1G) Regular Season Champion NCAA (West) Second All-American Team
