@Master Mind has a personal connection. Will always want him on his team.

Some of it was hit-and-miss. But "White Woman's Instagram" might be one of the best music videos of all time. Can't believe he did it all himself. And it may have been just a short clip, but damn if I didn't have: "Jeffrey Bezos... Jeffrey Bezo-os... Jeffrey Bezos... ... Congratulations!" in my head for days.

Just negotiating tactics. Minny will have room - especially after they lose Dumba's $6 mil at the expansion draft.
-
Thanks to @inane for the smooth negotiations. NTC lists aligned and a pretty fair deal came together for both sides. Especially since I couldn't protect Martinez in the expansion draft. With that, here is Carolina's revised protection list: F - Alex Ovechkin (NMC) F - Kevin Hayes (NMC) F - Anders Lee F - Reilly Smith F - Andre Burakovsky F - Ross Colton F - Nazem Kadri D - Victor Hedman (NMC) D - Nate Schmidt (NMC) D - Mikhail Sergachev G - Andre Vasilevskiy (NMC) (Exposed - Josh Archibald, Kevin Rooney, Ben Chiarot, Jeremy Lauzon, Jake Allen)

What is the main position target the canucks need
D-Money replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
I’ve long ragged on the Canucks for not having a decent D-core for many years. But honestly, on paper, this should have been at least average in the league: Hughes - Hamonic Edler - Schmidt Juolevi - Myers I seriously think it’s a coaching problem, with defensive systems. Hopefully the Shaw hire helps. Trotz taking the Isles from worst defensive team in the league to best defensive team in 1 year is proof that coaching is just as important as personnel. So, to answer the OP, two-way 3C who kills penalties. I think with the right guy between Motte and Podkolzin we’d have a fantastic 3rd line (finally!). -
Considering I was in grade school, I didn’t either. But enjoy them today, particularly this song:

Carolina is very happy to be able to keep Alex on board, likely to the end of his career. His production has slowed a little, but he’s still a big star and point producer, and is a lock for solid regular season and 1st round production…which we need more of, not less. Years 3 & 4 may be high for what he ends up bringing at that point, but we will probably be rebuilding/retooling then, so it helps to have the discount in years 1 & 2 more. Ovechkin will be taking the final spot of our protected forwards in the expansion draft.

[Rumour] Hamonic willing to play outside western canada
D-Money replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think Hamonic is definitely worth more than some posters do. That said, there are a number of RD options available this offseason. Playing alongside Hughes could be an attractive option to a free agent who is considering a 1-year “discount” deal to improve his stats. -
[Rumour] Sam Reinhart open to a trade back to West Coast
D-Money replied to a topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The only way I see a Reinhart trade working well with the cap is if Buffalo takes Eriksson back. Or some combination of Virtanen/Roussel/Beagle. -
I don’t see the point of buying out Okposo or Skinner. At least, not yet. Okposo only has 2 more years left. Better to just ride it out, instead of extending cap penalties for 4 years, when they might actually be getting good again. For Skinner…yeesh. That cap penalty will go to the end of time. But kind of the same deal. Every year you let it ride is 2 years less of cap penalty. And there’s always the remote possibility of amnesty buyouts at some point. Unless they need the cap for something else, may as well ride it out as long as possible.

Carolina is switching gears, and going with 7-3-1: F - Kevin Hayes (NMC) F - Reilly Smith F - Andre Burakovsky F - Ross Colton F - Nazem Kadri F - Nicolas Aube-Kubel F - TBD D - Victor Hedman (NMC) D - Nate Schmidt (NMC) D - Mikhail Sergachev G - Andre Vasilevskiy (NMC) (Exposed - Josh Archibald, Kevin Rooney, Alec Martinez, Ben Chiarot, Jeremy Lauzon, Jake Allen) Decided the team was much better situated to lose a D-man than a forward.

Could be…COVID really screwed with opportunities to sexually assault women. Might have been a real downer. …Jokes aside, if the allegations against Virtanen don’t have much weight (beyond “he said, she said”), I wonder if Seattle takes a shot at him. The rest of their options aren’t pretty, especially if the organization stands pat and protects Juolevi. If he had a good season like pre-COVID, he could be a decent trade chip at the deadline.

Dang, this is fun…

Man, if I only had the depth to get through early. I’d still be rocking: Vasilevskiy Hedman Martinez Sergachev Smith Colton Chiarot Merrill Allen Damn you, @Tylez!!!

Carolina Hurricanes release the following UFAs - they will not be re-signed: Mark Jankowski Carter Rowney Riley Nash Jon Merrill Gerald Mayhew Zack Smith Alan Quine Also, we release the rights to the following RFAs as well: Mathias Brome Joe Snively Brandon Duhaime Dawson DiPietro Matthias Elfstrom

Just read this from the Athletic, didn’t know this before: Which is to say, a player claimed or acquired by Seattle prior to the July 21 expansion draft will still be able to sign an eight-year max contract with the Kraken prior to the opening of free agency on July 28.

As of today, here is the protection/expansion list for Carolina: 8 Skaters, 1 Goalie: F - Kevin Hayes (NMC) F - Reilly Smith F - Andre Burakovsky F - Ross Colton D - Victor Hedman (NMC) D - Nate Schmidt (NMC) D - Mikhail Sergachev D - Jeremy Lauzon G - Andre Vasilevskiy (NMC) (Exposed - Nazem Kadri Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Kevin Rooney, Alec Martinez, Ben Chiarot, Jake Allen) I'm looking to improve my depth next season, and am going to lose a good player no matter what, so I'm willing to add expansion-eligible players prior to the draft.

If we’re releasing rights to RFAs, would we let you know now, or later? @Nail
