  1. It's such a ridiculous longshot... Was only worth mentioning because Rinne was the last goalie to actually score one. But unless Nashville gets some separation in the standings from Dallas, I seriously doubt anyone but Saros backstops their last 3 games.
  2. At least the team you're trying to keep ahead of (Edmonton) has 4 injuries if their own (Werenski, Hyman, Arvidsson, and Russell). I wondered if Edmonton might have an average with Boeser having extra games to play, but you have Miller too. You'll probably be ok...unless Rinne scores another goal .
  3. As of March 9th, Gaudette was rated 2nd in the entire league at creating scoring chances. Not 2nd on the team - in the league. Behind only Brendan Gallagher, and ahead of Brady Tkachuk, Auston Matthews, Max Pacioretty... Tyler Toffoli. (Source) I don’t think Gaudette will be an elite player, but I do think it’s very likely that he quickly becomes a very good one. There is evidence he already was one, but was having terrible luck. It looks like this trade will go down as a big “L” for the organization.
  4. Benning’s ability to find talent later in the draft - such as Gaudette, Madden, and Forsling - isn’t going to matter much if he keeps giving it away for so little in return.
  5. Power to you, @Primal Optimist. I was doing the same when battling for 1st, and when I had more call-up options. But I'm also in board with limiting it.
  6. In case anyone is wondering why Nail proposed a max call-up rule after the deadline...
  7. 30 points for Vasilevskiy (win, SO, assist)
  8. @theminister reading these lists like....
  9. Carolina sends down Zohorna and call up Merrill. (Quoted to prove it’s been 7 days by noon tomorrow.) @Nail
  10. Weber isn't going to be available either. Certainly not for a bag of crap. If NJ really wanted to dump some cash, I'd do Roussel and Eriksson for Subban. Equal cap going in and out, Devils will save $1.1M in dollars, even more if they buy one or both out. But think we'd get more utility out of Subban in a contract year. He's got 14 even strength points - only 2 less than Hughes. NJ is probably overplaying him at over 22:00 per night.
  11. Carolina is pleased to bring all these young players back at affordable cap hits. Colton in particular has been a great find for our scouts. We have a number of forward UFAs coming up, so filling having younger talent for cheap should help fill out the roster under a flat cap.
  12. New Lord Huron single. The vibes, the strings, the lyrics (“I ain’t lonely - I’m long lost”)... It’s friggin gorgeous.
  13. Carolina terminates the contract of Andrew Shaw, who has retired. @Nail
  14. We won the 2 games vs Toronto largely because their goaltending was terrible, and Holtby had 2 of his best games of the year. Heck, even when we were winning prior to the COVID shutdown, on many nights we didn’t play that great, Demko was just on a heater. So either our players are not good enough, or they are not being deployed properly. I understand people who are pro-Green, #FireBenning, and I also understand Benning bros who want Green gone. But I just don’t understand why some think they both should stay.
  15. The problem isn’t that there hasn’t been much success. The problem is that many of us don’t think those years of losing were used to their full advantage. So now when the young players that Benning has accumulated are ready to take the next step, there are multiple obstacles in their way. Obstacles created by Benning himself, that were totally unnecessary. But yeah, keep enjoying brief glimpses of actual success, while lyfao.
  16. Not a fit. Edler still brings as much (if not more) to the table, and with NZ at $3.2M+, AE will probably cost about the same. Hughes, Edler, Juolevi, Rathbone...how many lefties do we really need?
  17. Wait...what? What success? A few weeks in the bubble? 2 wins against Toronto? There has been almost no success at all...
  18. Carolina assigns Dan Renouf and Jon Merrill to the AHL, and activates Ben Chiarot from I/R. @Nail
  19. He will be looking for Iafallo money and term. Not really a fit.
