  1. Was referring to my post about having high expectations as a basic rule of life. Not to mention being loyal.
  2. Yes I have high expectations and want to see the Canucks challenge for a cup. High expectations and loyalty can get you far in life.
  3. hardly playoff calibre today or tomorrow.
  4. Remember though the NCAA is not a professional league, the A is. The same argument regarding the CHL. I wouldn't compare pro to non pro. Experience and age do matter. A 26 year old man is going to have certain advantages over an 18 year. I would add as well that one of the arguments (by Russians as well) on why Russia has done so poorly when it is best on best in recent years is that KHL players do not play against the best. For example Nikita is not going to have to deal with a Crosby, Malkin and so forth but rather a Jack Skille. Similar to your point about A players learning the full game we see that Russia's real weak spot with best on best is its D. That never used to be the case with them. Of course with the Olympics we are going to mostly see a battle between the other leagues. Nikita should be on that team. We should expect Russia to win gold.
  5. Nikita played very well most of the year and that obviously has helped him back in Russia - that seems clear. He stated that he is going to honor his 3 years so there is no point really thinking about it. At some point he is going to want to return to the NHL because of its status. If you are good at something you want to test yourself against the best. What people should stop doing is comparing him to Chara. Completely different types of players. Chara is a hall of fame D as well. He may play for us or if we do trade him we should get something very nice for him. We got some good D's in the system. On TSN the Utica GM was talking about how well Brisebois and Chatfield have adjusted to the pro game in such a short time.
  6. Yes, I shouldn't have said hands down and didn't mean to imply the A was substantially better. I don't know how the translation codifying works but it raised a lot of questions. I just googled this 'As the National Hockey League embarks on its 2015-16 season today, the American Hockey League is proud to have 628 graduates on NHL opening-day rosters, making up more than 84 percent of the NHL’s player pool to begin its campaign.' Now there are some points to be made but it is fair to make an argument that the league that supplies most of the players for the best league in the world is probably your second best league.
  7. no you cannot because they are not pro leagues
  8. AHL hands down. Why? Because they feed more players to the NHL than any other league. Don Cherry also agrees with me. And of course it is the league where coaches start out as well - Boudreau, AV, Green, Willie, and so on.
  9. Nikita didn't show he could be an elite D in the league yet. the previous poster is correct, the KHL is not even the second best league in the world. It is all mute because Nikita is signed for 3 years and in his interview he said he has no intention to buy himself out of a contract. I wish he was here, glad he is doing well, but recognize it is the KHL. The level is completely different than the NHL.
  10. standing in front of the net looking for garbage requires grit - how many current canucks do that? Hmm.
  11. Archie should be in the lineup. What is this management team thinking with. Vanek, Brum,Gagne. Gaunce and Archie.
  12. Not playing Boeser is all part of the rebuild plan.
  13. The 94 team would have been an nightmare for the 11 Bruins.
  14. Yes but is wasn't the cap era and we were going against teams that were trying to buy cups like the rangers. Our ownership at the time didn't have that kind of money. So in that sense we were lucky to get that far in that era However, that 94 was stacked with great talent. There was Bure but people forget Trevor had 32 goals in regular season and another 12 in the playoffs. It is like having McDavid and Drisaitl. And we had Courtnall, with 70 points, Ronning with 68, and Brown with 66. The 11 Canucks as you note was heavy on the PP and when that dried up in the finals it was our achilles heel. In contrast the 94 Nucks were a very well balanced and deep team. And since it had a very heavy Canadian flavor it was very very gritty and durable I think people tend to think that the 11 team was a better team than the 94 but I would disagree. Remember the back end , Babych, Lumme, Brown, Diduck, Hedican, Murzyn, Dirk - a Pat Quinn D. Babych was the second overall pick in 1980. People that followed the team closely at the time thought even before the playoffs that we had a shot that year. We were just over 500 but the team could on any night beat any in form team in the league that year. It was with that team under Quinn that put us on the map and where the franchise is today.
  15. he needs to improve his skating, otherwise great prospect
  16. the 4th line is going to be Archie, Sutter, and Dorsett.
  17. Why are people saying he's been waived?
  18. dont see any info that he was waived
  19. sure, but if they waive him he will be picked up so not really an investment at all in terms of money and length. I am not saying they don't want him just that the previous poster is wrong in thinking that it will be gifted to him and that there are no guys that could take his spot. And the fact that he is injured means he doesn't have a chance to prove himself against his competition is not a mixed blessing - it is a disaster especially considering his goal output last year. The deck is stacked against him in a big way with this injury.
  20. No it is not a mixed blessing. You don't quite understand just how precarious his situation is. He needed to be in camp showing it was his spot and now someone else is going to take.
  21. and you could say the same for speed. Mario didn't play with a goon, Crosby doesn't either.
  22. I didn't write just score more goals. That is your misreading or rewording or whatever in terms of bad arguments it is called the straw man What I did say which is 'fact' is the team that scores the most goals in a game wins.
