but you cannot really provide any evidence to support this claim. How do you define team toughness, how do you measure it and of course how can you demonstrate that it does correlate with winning.
-
the team that wins in hockey is the one that scores the most goals, there are no points given for being tough. I doubt there are any players on the team that you could beat up.

Until July 2022 we have his contract. If he develops and matures he will want to come back to NHL - the KHL is not even the second best league in the world. By 22 we probably will not need him. I doubt we will ever see him in a Nuck uniform again. He was homesick and sounds like he didn't want to compete for ice time. Sorry, but Nikita was not at this point in his career a top 4 guy. And he didn't want to earn it. Time to move on, he's gone and we got a team rebuilding. Not every NHLer with potential wants to work to be a top D pairing and earn the coin as a result. That is what separates a Chara from a Nikita - drive. Or even a smaller D like Stecher. Size is nothing without skill, and size and skill are nothing without drive.

sure but not in the AHL Sure but not in the A
-
You didn't read my point. Namely, he has nothing to learn in the AHL. Check his AHL stats and play he was not a D liability. He is at the stage where putting him in the A to learn D is not particularly smart thinking. There is a difference between teaching an offensive player to be responsible defensively and trying to turn him into a defensive player. Sorry Goldy is never going to be a D first guy. Why should he be, his game is scoring goals. The Nucks in the past especially under the Gillis era loved these 200 ft guys who did everything but at the same time nothing.
-
Goldy was just down in Utica and did nothing but score goals. He has nothing to learn at the AHL level even in terms of D. He needs to learn the NHL game. One more thing, Goldy is an offensive player not a defensive player. He is never going to be a 200 ft play all zones guy. His game is offensive and if you haven't noticed we cannot score goals. One issue this team has had until very recently is drafting too many generic 200 ft guys who can play all zones but cannot score. Goldy is a points guy and getting him to learn D in the A makes zero sense at this point - He is done with the AHL. If you are going to play him there then get ready to trade him or see Nikita example Goldy has graduated from the A

He will be back. The big issue is will we have a spot on this club. The Canucks 2 years down the line will be a better team.

First, as well documented by pundits and play, Stech over the course of the season was a better puck distributor than any other D. First, among D with points, Elder was second. First year pro by the way. Tram has 5-6 years of pro hockey. The NHL game is about D's moving pucks so to take Tram over Stech is a non-starter. Sbisa and the Sedins are the only players that played the full 82. What is amazing about Luca is that he was only -1 on the season. Our team was 6th overall for goals allowed. You must have watched this season. Perhaps Tram has more 'future potential' but to say he is right now better than Sbisa is incorrect. Yeah more popular with the fans for sure. Sbisa at the start of the year was arguably our best D. However, I will agree that at times especially early in the season it was a bit of a head shaker that Hutton was getting more ice time than Tram. I would toss in Gud. But in fairness to Gud he had a medical issue and his sample size is small. However, as one person who has looked at the data noted, as the season went on Tram was getting close to the same time as everyone else. Early in the year no. This I am going back to the K because of ice time does not hold when you look at the latter half of the season, not to mention we got a coach change here. If you look at my older posts I was probably the only person on this site saying that Willie was not dealing with the Russian properly. For example suggestion Goldy lacked intensity. Do I think Tram is a good player, yes, could he be a top 4 guy, yes for sure. But depth wise I would not put him ahead of the two you mentioned nor Tanev, nor Elder, and would probably toss a coin between him and Hutton. Hutton was one of the few Nucks that played better as the season went on. Tram was clearly better at the start of the season, but the last 30 games, not sure about that. As for Gud as I said the sample size is small, but Gud offers something on the backend that Tram doesn't which is heavyweight toughness. Gud is also a hitter. Tram a reluctant one. Valk in March said imagine what would have happened with Tram iif Gud had been healthy as with other D's. He was skeptical if Tram would be a regular. I agree.

Yes I have. The decision to go back was not solely about family. Perspective? ... Have you read his interview, ferPetesakes?
-
The Nucks have him until July 1st 22. The idea was to develop him and that would mean being a 5 and 6 guy for the foreseeable future. However, he obviously did not agree with that. What are you supposed to do, get rid of better players.
-
his Russian club averages 4500 fans per game. Keep that in perspective when you think about what he is returning to.

Tram at the end of his presser said he wanted to stay in Van. So have to think money did come into play. Why would he lie about something like that when all he has to say is he will talk to his agent I liked Tram, but he was one of a few Nucks that got weaker as the season progressed. He wore down pretty quick. Next season he would not be top 4. Gud, Hutton, Stech, Tanev, Sbisa, Elder are better options. I think as well Juolevi will be here with the club. My hunch with Tram as other media have noted is that he doesn't quite like the NHL game nor the role he would have to play. I don't think he has the maturity or motivation at this time to commit to the NHL. It was said on the radio today that the prez or GM of his russian team had warned that Tram going was not a good idea at the time. He appears to be right. Tram is good enough to play in the NHL but at the moment he does not have mindset or commitment to be a top 4 guy who gets paid like one. So it appears he has decided on an easier road. The K is not even the second best league in the world, the A is . That is fine, but that should give you some insight to what exactly his 'unlimited potential is'. If you want to be the best and be rewarded as such, you do not leave the best league in the world . That is his mindset people. He came to camp thinking he would play into shape - no team does that these days.

New coach next year with a mandate to develop the youth. Sedins cannot play first line minutes anymore either.
-
There is nothing left for him there in the A. He needs to learn to play at the NHL level. He is an example of a player who cannot learn anything more in the A. Has to be the show. As far as chances last night he was the best canuck. He could have had at least 3-4 points.
-
there were a few moments in both games where I said who is that, meaning some sick puck control moves - it was goldy. He's young, was sick, first time in the show and just needs time. If you see his AHL game he doesn't need to be there. He needs to learn at the NHL level. He is a offensive talent for sure and he needs to learn how to do that at the NHL level while playing the all round game as well. There is nothing for him in the AHL.

Gaunce is going to have his work cut out to make this club in 18. Top 9 no way.
-
boucher is not wellwood
-
been gone a long time it seems
-
I have this year not liked Hutton, but agree that over the past few games he played really well.
-
Leave Jake alone for a couple years and then see what we got.

In Japan everyone wears those in the summer - men and women. Wearing socks with short for the most part doesn't look cool. And of course without socks your shoes will stink in short time. You take them off when you are not using them for shoes because the whole idea is for them not to be seen. they are not meant to be fashionable but rather deal with a practical problem.

is gaunce available for the expansion draft?
