So by sending hamonic on waiver the canucks will essentially get no ltir bonus pool for ferland? -

ya pretty sure green and benning will get the entire year even if the canucks sucks. i doubt green gets fired 1 month into the season just signing a new contract -

we need to start the season with familiarity and stacking the top 2 lines.. EP boeser and Miller have familiarity with each other same with horvat hoglander and i guess pearson or whomever.. let dickerson center the 3rd and whoever on the 4th.. not looking forward to the start of the season with these line tinkering and blender lines with plugs like chaisson and petan on top lines and hoping for the best -

Lol they'll be able to roll 3 lines once the injured guys are back. This preseason so far all his line combo other than lines that worked before haven't worked at all. Sure it's preseason but we are like the 2nd lowest scoring team in the entire league by a fair margin. Every other team is playing their prospect and stuff too it's not just us and we are already struggling 5v5. -

I rather green stacks the top 2 line and hopes the 3rd and 4th line can stay afloat till a lot of t⁸he options come back. Otherwise spreading all the offense around we will end up with no offense lol. -

lol we are not talking about cap issue or not? we are talking about paying a guy 10mil. who cares what the other guys are making? lol i guess by that standard no one in this league will ever be a superstar in this league other than McDavid? lol Barkov since his ELC is over a ppg.. he scored 346 poitns in 338 games over his last 5 season. like do you even look at his stats? paying 10mil for a guy 80-85 points? he was on pace for 95 points this season and hit 96 in last full 82 game season in the league? funny you mentioned all those players winning the selke and were they superstars.. none of those guys were putting up 95+ point pace wining the selke? so by ur standard datysuk is not a superstar in this league either since he never won a hart nor art ross. he's only voted one of the greatest top 100 player of all time. last i checked there's 2 sides to hockey. offense and defense. i guess you can't have defensive superstar in this league coz those guys will never win art ross nor hart trophies.. so none of the defensemen will ever be classified as a superstar unless they outscore mcdavid -

did they circumvented the cap too in their first cup? lol barkov is not even a superstar?? are u a joke? the reining selke winner and over a ppg guy is not a superstar in this league? lmao -

lidstrom is also over? kucherov is sitting at 11.6% of the cap too? so basically pittsburgh did it like 3 times washington won it tampa did it twice detroit also done it.. plenty of example. it have nothing to do with there isn't enough cap to surround mcdavid with enough talents most competing teams spend like 6-8mil TOTAL on their bottom 6 and just 2-3mil on their bottom 2 defense.. it's just edmonton haven't drafted well and have no prospect stepping in on their ELC nor have any player exceeding their contract like most cup winners. Florida despite having the anchor contract in bobrovsky at least they have couple ppl like spencer knight and huderbeau well exceeding their contract.so they can afford to pay their star players -

lol there's a few players won the cup equivalent to being a 10mil player today.. barkov is taking 12% of the cap.. Malkin won the cup eating up 13% of the cap crosby was eating up 12% of the cap.. this is a dumb comparision.. might as well say well there was no 10mil players back in the early 2000.. there are plenty of team that won the cup with players eating up 12-13% of the cap -

Too bad him and his agent prolly wont look at anything signed in the state of Florida as comparable since it's literally like 1-2mil higher take home than most cities if he were to sign that in vancouver that's close to 1.5mil less net after tax per year. 12 mil over the course of the contract -
i absolutely hate this drop pass crap everytime we have an extra men.. 10 guy standing still waiting for that drop pass
-
poor coaching when we have too many men on the ice and too few men on the ice...

The Score craps on the Canucks playoffs chances
wai_lai416 replied to grandmaster's topic in Canucks Talk
i don't disagree with their assessment of the defense but i think this team will prolly get 3rd or sneak into the playoff. the division is very weak and we'll be fighting for the spot right down to seasons end barring some major injury here and there. as much as people here thinks our defense is good enough. they are legitmately question marks everywhere in the most expensive defense in the league. Can OEL rebound in the regular season. Will Hamonic play and how much will he play? will Hughes be better defensively. Can Poolman all of a sudden going from a 4/5 defenseman to playing other teams top line and not get exposed. as much as you guys think of poolman as a top 4 defenseman.. he's going to be playing to top defense pairing role with OEL against other teams top line if that's the pairing. i still not a fan of Green's coaching style where we let the other team take lots of low danger perimeter shots against us. i think that put lots of stress on the defense and base on probability 1 out of every 11 shots will end up in the net just based on goalies avg save%. remember how many puck would bounce off our defenseman and in the net? if poolman can handle the role of top shutdown defenseman i think we'll make it. but if any of the top 4 defenseman go down i think we'll be in for a long season -
while it is an exhibition game it still concerning for the canucks to generate not much in terms of offense. ya they got lots of shots but there weren't really much high danger chance. we can say well we didn't dress a lot of guys.. but Horvat Hogz Pearson is ur potential 2nd line. Dickerson podz maceawan could be ur 3rd line and we have pretty much all the defensemen that'll start the year on the team minus poolman and hughes. feels like the top line is going to be heavily relied on for offense and if they don't generate enough demko gonna have to stand on his head. hopefully when poolman and hughes are in the lineup.. OEL and Myer don't have to play 25+ mins a night.. and it's an exhibition.. i think green needs to spread his mins more on the D especially this early on in the season and we starting on a long road trip to make sure we ain't burning out our defenseman and risking injury early in the season.

[Signing] Canucks sign Tucker Poolman
wai_lai416 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
oh i'm just throwing out random names out there i'm not against signing the poolman but if this was a 2mil x 4 or even a 3mil x 2 i prolly wouldn't be complaining about it. 500k doesn't seem a lot but 500k may have ended up like a hughes sighing a 7 7.3ish bridge vs a 7.8ish 6 years. it all adds up. poolman and the rest of the canucks D better step up and play some amazing defense for being the leagues most expensive blueline. who knows maybe poolman will turn into a jackpot.. odds are highly unlikely every single 2year + ufa contract benning gives out turns into a buyout/cap dump/ltir right? -

#5 defender at 2.5mil? i dunno ask the league there's almost 20+ teams with a #5 highest paid dman at under 1.5mil so obviously they know the price of a #5 defenseman. 2.5mil u can prolly sign a Nemeth who signed for the same amount? big strong stay at home defensemen? with better offense? less giveaways? plays similar mins? far more experience and only 8 months older? considering nemeth only got 2.5mil on a 3 year deal who i think is equal to poolman defensively and a 12-15 point a year guy. still not sure how poolman is worth the same on a longer contract. -

again if this was a 2 year contract sure by all means pay him 2.5 pay him even 3mil. what was the theme of canucks lineup problem throughout JB's tenure? we overpay our 3rd and 4th line. 500k here 1mil there another 1mil there they all add up. so instead of powerpaying for 3rd and 4th liners we over pay our defense now. we have the most expensive defense atm in the NHL along with the sharks. don't think anyone can walk in with a straight face and say we have one of the best defense in the league yet we are 32% higher than the league average for what other team pays their defense. one of poolman myer or hamonic is going to be playing the 3rd pairing role i don't see how that's money well spent in the long term. -

Oh 500k? And we were bitching about whether ur star players is worth 7.5mil or 8mil etc etc? Ya 500k is no big deal in the grand scheme of things but 500k here 500k in another guy oh that's 1 mil. 2.5mil sure sign him to a 2 year if he sucks after 1 year its only 1 more if he does good great u have him for 1 more before he hits 30+ and possible decline like most. Hell I'll even say 3 mil at 2 years. It's less risk given JB ufa records. 4 years? What if he doesnt work out after 1 year? Another 2.5mil wasted in what suppose to be the teams go for it seasons with ep bridge? Ok so say he works well for 2 years than after that he's like Jordie benn half the season in the press box? Going by the track record JB hit on 1 ufa in his tenure that was signed to more than 2 years every single one turned out to be buried in the ahl cap dumped or bought out. That is facts. Don't remember if you were one of them but wasn't most not some people on cdc squabbling over whether ep is worth 7 or 8mil on a bridge or hughes being worth 1 mil or less than dahlin and were ready to ship them out of town? -
Robin Lehner Makes Some Serious Accusations
wai_lai416 replied to Thrillhaus's topic in General Hockey Discussion
lol making accusation about management coaches giving drugs without subscription and then in between treat name drop AV in completely different allegation and then go back to talking about drugs again? the firestorm he created for philly and the bad PR should be grounds for Lehner to be sued for defamation to the club and AV... that's like saying ya there's some serious harassment going on at work.. then say fire so and so coz he's an asshole.. then back to man ppl taking this issue so lightly.. a few days later oh i didn't mean so and so was part of the harassment -

lol i'm just saying if he's signing for 1.5 mil ya sure sign him to 4 years 2mil i'd be ok 2.5 for 4 it's too much. just like a lot of u were saying holtby was a great signing last year right? what did we do? oh right we bought him out. Ferland was a great signing too! 3.5mil for 4 years! oh right he sat on the LTIR for like 90% of the contract. we keep signing unknown guys to 4year + contract and what have history taught us so far in benning's tenure? all his 3-4 year + contract in the UFA have been bust for players never played with the team before. literally the only free agent signing benning have made for a new player to the team that's over 2mil or signed to a 3 year + contract regardless of $ that didn't turn into an anchor or a bust was Ryan Miller. Vrbata maybe but he refused to be traded -

Yup I shot down ppl for saying ep will come in at UNDER 7 as he's NOT WORTH it haven't proven *hit in this league and injury prone. Not the first or last time JB signs a free agent to a contract that's either over paid or over termed. Seem to be 1 every off season anyways. I make statement? Pretty sure this is a forum to have ur opinion. You don't like it? Move on yet you are hell bent on expanding it and continuing arguing. There's plenty of nhl analyst or ppl that covered the nhl thinks poolman is a questionable signing at the term and money, but that's fine everyone hates the canucks and no one is allowed to have their own opinion. There half the league was bidding for poolman JB won the bidding vancouver have the deepest blue line in the league. There happy? Fit ur narrative? -

lol if he wasn't dead set on signing hamonic or poolman he could have made a run for 1 of the other D free agents? or who knows maybe he did and whiff, but regardless they can still sign their poolman but it's still a overpayment and over termed if they wanna sign poolman to 2.5 go ahead sign him for 2 years. u think he's gonna say no i'm going to look elsewhere for a longer contract? like i said i doubt there's team lining up to sign him for 4 years at 2.5mil -

ya the original post was i think the contract is too long too much and it turned into this. who i like to sign is irrelevant. spending cap wisely have nothing to do with who i rather go with. it gives u flexibiliy and option if poolman signs for 1.5 sure sign him to 4 years. at 2.5? i rather just give him 2 years before he becomes an anchor on the 3rd pair when he's 31-32 at 2.5mil
