  1. maybe the kings will bail out vegas and take lehner with retention if he's healthy he's going to be at some point
  2. doesn't free agency technically not open for another hr #tampering
  3. No they won’t nba fan base in North America and the rest of the world is like wayyyyyyyyyyyyy bigger than the nhl.. there are like 100+ countries in the world with nba tv rights paying the nba.. NHL? Outside of Canada and some us cities and the European countries are not really all that popular.. basketball is easily accessible for everyone. Hockey is only available for the privileged. That’s why nba and soccer/football makes so much money coz everyone growing up can easily have access to playing the sport and eventually being a fan.
  4. again CP stats was great when maroon was his center avg 0.5 ppg and was a + player tampa bay as a whole this year is no where the team they were he last 3 years when they went to the finals. player turnover from championship teams and fatigue probably have to do with a lot of their issues.. they played almost an extra 3/4 season worth of hockey in the last 3 season including the playoff
  5. possibly but bedard is so good skating around the other team by himself and finding a shooting lane having perry that's capable of hunting rebounds and deflection may not be all that bad.. i mean they are probably going to try that.. unless they sign or trade for someone else in FA.. otherwise i don't really see anyone on the hawks that's capable or deserving of playing in that RW spot atm
  6. sure but at the same time vasey wasn't as good as previous years. CP advance stats is actually not much different from previous years.. one stat that stands out is the sv% when he's on the ice. compared to his average and previous year it dropped a whopping 6%. previous year even strength he was on the ice for 46goals for 36 against this year he was only on the ice for 27 goals for and 50 against. part of that i'm going to have to say it's his linemates.. the guy with the biggest defensive responsibility you know the center?? going from maroon to namestnikov was a huge drop off offensively and defensively.
  7. corey perry in his worse days is still better than wayne simmonds. CP struggled this year mainly playing with namestnikov and bellemare.. last season he was playing mainly with maroon as his center along with bellemare and they were relatively successful putting up .5 ppg in a 3rd/4th line role.. again in the games he played with maroon as his center he was going at a .5 ppg clip but not sure why they insist on putting him with namestnikov. perry actually have talent unlike simmonds, and he shown he can still produce with the right linemate so it doesn't hurt for the chicago to give it a shot.. if it works? great Perry trade value go up.. if it doesn't work? no harm done try someone else and have perry in a pure mentor role
  8. the issue with vancouver or was with vancouver was they went for the big name player and never thought about compatibility/style and just throws them together and hope they get result. with Hughes they just throw whatever for partner.. but he's most effective playing with Tanev and Schenn the stay at home defensive defenceman because it gives him the freedom to jump up in offence skate around with the puck etc and not have to worry as much on defence coz he knows there's someone there to back him up.. OEL is essentially a slower/older version of hughes that needs like a tanev or schenn to be effective.. in his time in vancouver his greatest success was when hughes was injured and he played hughes role along side with schenn.. most of the time he's playing with myer whos really incompatible in terms of playstyle.. 2 incompatible playstyle players playing together and the result? 2 really bad defenceman kinda like hughes in his soph season.. ppl say they OEL was decent with Myers last year.. i didn't think that way i just thought the goalie bailed them out more often than not. we need to look at a defenceman's playstyle and find a partner for them that'll enable them.. rather than just oh this guy stats was pretty good and he's good defensively and then just sign that guy and hope it works out imo.
  9. prolly the only way CP would be willing to go to chicago is to overpay him.. i mean it's not that big deal for chicago.. they still have like 20+ mil to weaponize.. and CP will be traded at the TDL for like a 2nd or 3rd rounder.. big body that might play with bedard and as a mentor and gone at the TDL? it's really not that bad.. all it cost them is money which they wont have problem recouping with bedard jersey sale... ppl would think twice before running bedard thru the board as perry will gladly drop the gloves Hall Bedard Perry
  10. i mean it's not even that bad 25+ still have around 12-13 for 9 majority of them are bottom 6 league min players i dont see podz getting much of a raise maybe 1.5mil and if they can manage to move a boeser or garland then we'd have plenty of cap space moving miller for pesce makes no sense because they are almost the same age and put a gigantic hole in the middle KK is at best a 3c moved horvat moving miller and prolly moving on from boeser either trade or runs out contract.. who's playing in the top 6??
  11. well considering they did sign Miller to a 7 year deal at the age of 30 i wouldn't put it past them.. and i don't think it's a bad thing for willander to start off on the 3rd pairing and slowly move his way up if he's capable.. although for a defenceman at that age i prolly go no more than max 5 years not sure if he would though.
  12. lol in what sense? Pesce have been consistently a top pairing defenceman for 5+ seasons now.. Hronek without top unit powerplay time he'll prolly be around a 35-40 point guy.. Pesce is a 30 point guy as most of his points are from 5v5.. and he's wayyyyy better defensively and it's not even close.
  13. so a legit top 4 defenceman that only cost 4mil on ur cap this year can put up point 5v5 blocks a ton of shots is worth no more than a 1st?? sign me up we can trade a couple of 1st and get couple of top 4 defenceman
  14. are we ranking depth as in depth defenceman? we are prolly #1 in the league if we are ranking defenceman depth lol most of those listed will be a bottom pairing 7/8th defenceman at best with Willy having top 4 potential and EP2 is exceeding expectation.. hirose rathbone are almost 25.. i think we are at the point of what u see is what u get in terms of their game doubt it'll change much. the 2nd tier (age) the woo mcward johansson needs to step it up if they want to make the nhl they are entering their draft + 5 + 6 season now? and the only guy that have shown some progress at the NHL level so far is hirose?
  15. remember the days when we were talking about shipping QH out because of contracts and replace him with rathbone? lol
  16. his points production did not pickup under RT he has 2g 7 points in all of march and his mins are reduced. it doesn't matter what he's playing in arizona.. he's being paid like a top 6 and he's really not good enough for a top 6 role.. if you are paid 5mil.. and you can't play the PK.. then i'm sure your role would be to produce not be a mediocre middle 6 energy guy. against the tougher teams the playoff teams he has 21 points but is a -17 he's too small too ineffective against the playoff teams and he feast on the inferior competition. of course we don't have to do anything.. if their goal is to miss the playoff again this season.. the OEL buyout makes 0 sense if they are not planning to compete in this 2 season where the cap relief is the greatest.. you buy out OEL just so you don't have to pay a sweetener or forced to move a boeser garland beau or myers and then just replace OEL in FA? that's their master plan? and this team will all of a sudden be a playoff team? we are 14-26-3 or something against the playoff teams even worse than last season.. right now we dont even have a 3c missing 2 top 4 d with a little over 6mil in cap space... but it's ok we dont have to do anything and continue to be this middling team not good enough for the playoff not bad enough for the lottery for a few more season. even with injuries.. there'll be plenty of better options than garland boeser out there from other teams that want to dump cap that are more agressive so we'll just have to ride those contract out no problem.
  17. hence i'm not a fan of the OEL buy out.. we are not competing with the current lineup as is with all the cap tied down to middling wingers if they are not doing anything for this and next season where the cap benefit from the buy out is at it's peak.. there's really no point of buying out OEL and should have just rode out his contract or hope for LTIR at some point. other than being a PITA.. garland doesn't really bring anything.. his production have been on the decline every year since the trade from arizona.. his 1st season with the canucks if he didn't go on a tear in april in the mean nothing games.. with 16 points.. in half a month.. 1/3 of his total points.. he woulda finished sub 40 points.. his mins was further reduced once RT took over the team.. he was avg 12-14 mins in march/april.. where's the value in a tiny player that's been declining in production over the last 2 years with his mins reduced each season and can't play the penalty kill? he's not good enough to be a regular top 6.. and he's paid too much to be a 3rd liner that can't pk. his only value is a PITA that's overpaid by about 1-1.5mil based on his current performance. if they have patience then they wouldn't have bought out OEL
  18. Garland will cost more than a 2nd at this point if no one wants him and he’s purely a cap dump. Bailey only had 1 year at 5mil while buy out costing 2.x mil garland still have 3 years at 5mil although he can play. Prolly be a 2nd + prospect is the asking price if u want to dump garland or boeser. There’s prolly teams out there that wants boeser or garland for free but they also know Vancouver wants to move them so they are in no rush and can easily wait until Vancouver gets desperate to move them and throw in sweeteners. Vancouver needs to get this done sooner than later if they plan on moving them coz the later it goes what’s the point of cap space with no one to spend it on.. most the cap strap team already did their cap dump and we really don’t have much assets to trade for players
  19. Pass on steel.. if the wild really wanted him they don't even have to worry about arbitration.. just qualify him and work on a deal worse case is steel elect arbitration.. wild have the right to walk away on a player elected arbitration.. so seems wild are not really that interested at keeping him.. we need some size on this team.. dont need more 5"11 <190lb players. cal foote i don't mind.. he can go work with his dad and maybe work on the fundamentals
  20. so 3 season from now hence i said 3 years? which doesn't help their narrative of win now and make the playoff? what part of this am i negative? he could very well be a trade bait in couple years if the canucks are in a position to compete? that's being negative?? gimme a break.. judging people based on forum post? lol okie.. i can say you are a prejudice guy that likes to make assumptions.. and judge people based on how they dress.
  21. I’m ok with the pick not excited not disappointed..I doubt he makes the Canucks uniform for at least 3 years. It’s good he’s coming over to North America to learn the game and get used to the smaller ice. Doesn’t really help us make the playoff and if let say we are competitive in year 3-4 might be traded before he even plays a game for Vancouver
  22. impossible the way cdc talks about how valuable they are you'd expect there'd be a lineup of teams offering to pay up for them.
  23. PA called all 31 teams yet with our wingers?? By the time we reached July 1st most of the teams might not have a need for our “wingers”
  24. If tm plays the entire season with jack Hughes.. hard to imagine him not hitting 40 goals or over 90 points.. jack Hughes is just that good.
  25. Hischier have way more points on the ice despite having almost 8% more dzone less ozone starts.. points is not that big of a deal i guess since it's the best defensive forward not the best 2 way forward.. Hischier have more block shot.. and way more takeaway.. the only individual stat bergeron leads in is +/- hits and faceoff.. obviously advance stats is going to favor bergeron.. Hischier is and will have siginificantly higher CA and FA because he played 200+ more mins and starts in the D zone 10% of the time more than bergeron. 200+ mins more even strength less PP more SH time so no bergeon isn't 99 points while hishier is a 97 so bergeron deserves first every time.. it's they are probably both 99 depending on which stats u value more and the votes shouldn't have been 99% first place for bergeron Hischier carried his linemate tatar who went from a -21 to a +41 and jesper bratt +0 to +14 and i'll keep using the miles ahead because you need to be miles ahead for you to have a lobsided win like this.. we ain't talking about 99 vs 97 or 98 points and even if we are.. certain questions on some test are up to the persons intrepretation.. it's not like it's a multiple choice where there's only 1 answer. i find it hard to believe everyone rated each player and their criteria exactly the same.
