  1. Is there a team that's worse than the Canucks when it comes to dead cap space? We have Eriksson at 6 mil that we cant get rid of. Spooner buy out at 1mil Luongo cap recapture at 3mil and Sutter who I dont even know if we can get rid of either at 4.4mil who barely played 50% of the games since traded here.. that's 14mil in cap space that we have wasted
  2. Capfriendly faq section have a really good read about the LTIR. Something to do with the leafs ain't over their upper limit and by taking on Clarkson they are over their upper limit.
  3. nah if they kept spark and sent him down they won't reach the upper limit to get the 100% LTIR relief on horton, but by picking up clarkson they are guranteed 100% LTIR relief from Horton and Clarkson. basically they have to buy clarkson's contract for extra LTIR space it's like a difference of 700k ish.. but when they are penny pinching to sign marner they'll need it
  4. Yes but they only got Clarkson coz they wanted max relief on LTIR on Horton. Like an extra million. So still loopholes and circumvention
  5. So why is the leafs not punished for cap circumventing? They take on Clarkson's contract just so they can get max LTIR on their other player.. if the Canucks would have done this $&!#. There be a league investigation and prolly draft pick docked
  6. boeser will never ever be a 100 point player.. even if he scores 40+ goals.. he ain't anywhere close to 100 point playing with petey or not
  7. you do know MacKinnon don't really backcheck right? the knock on Mackinnon every year is the lack of strong backcheck.. he makes up for it by always having the puck on his stick.. when the puck is on his stick.. that's playing defense.. same with what McDavid is doing.. but there's no point of arguing with you... since it's clear you don't actually watch the game and just look at a players +/- to determine they play great defense LOL.. that's like ur buddy here just said save percentage means nothing.. but whichever forward with the best +/- is the best player even though you don't even watch them play
  8. lol sure but also shows that he can't steal you games.. our defence was actually pretty healthy up until xmas.. the only player that was lost for anything significant is Edler.. sure not the greatest defense.. but that's pretty much the same defense he had all the previous year.. still doesnt' explain why if he's playing with such a bad team like you said.. all of a sudden he's lights out. then next month with the same team he gets shelled.. then he's lights out again... so what you are saying is Markstrom is really the best goalie in the league coz if it was anyone else playing he woulda been shelled 6+ goals every night because we have 1/3 of an AHL team.. just fyi.. Demko was just as good in the games he played behind the same trash ahl team you are referring to.. he only played 9 games.. 2 of them he got blown out.. but then he had 5 games above .930 and 2 above .912.. behind the exact same ahl defense you are referring to.. so doesn't really justify your markstrom stats was poor sometimes coz he's playing behind 1/3rd of an ahl team.
  9. do you actually watch the game or you just look at stats? Pettersson is no where near one of the worst forwards on the canucks defensively.. he actually hustles and backchecks literally every play.. meanwhile his linemates just floats around
  10. lights out?? he was avg in october .911 trash in november .887 insane in december .943 trash in janurary .900 excellent in feb .930 avg in march and april .908 he was at the league's avg or below 4 of the 7 months of the season.. hardly lights out... the league avg was .911
  11. pretty sure the team had more points was thx to pettersson tearing up the league in the first 4 months.. and absolutely nothing to do with markstrom coz he was trashed the first half of the season lol.. the canucks had 1 more win in the 2018-19 season after january 1st than they did in 2017-2018 after january 1st.. so he's hardly the reason why the canucks had more points.... all the extra points this year the canucks racked up before 2019 coincidently Pettersson was dominating the league.. so hmm i wonder... and markstrom was the only real change? like the calder winning rookie by the name of pettersson didn't exist?
  12. looking at the last 3 years? so what part of Markstrom is trending up? his goals against is worse every year the last 3 years? and if you want to look at sv% he's below the league avg every single season lol.. i'm probably not far off saying he also has the fewest shutout of any goals with 200+ games in their career in the last 20 years.. and i don't think it's even close
  13. so since when is a players value determined by a couple of months rather than couple of season stretch? because Markstrom had a great couple of months he now is worth as much as bob who's been good for years? so because pettersson had a rough couple of months to end the season.. he should worth not much right now right? like you are comparing a player stats that was good for 1 year vs a player's who last season dind't have the greatest stats but have been good for years..
  14. cleary show he's trending down? he was trending down from his first vezina season for the next 3 season then all of a sudden he trended way up and won the vezina again? so define clearly trending down?? so markstrom had 1 decent season and all of a sudden he's trending up and according to some is top 5 in the league?
  15. we can compare the 2 goalie when markstrom have 2 vezina to his name.. not that many goalie ahve 1 let alone 2 lol even as great as luongo have been in some season he has 0 vezina.. last year was an avg season for bob.. and even his avg season he still ended up with 9 shutouts lol
  16. what are you even talking about? virtanen stats the last 2 years is almost identical minus empty net goals... i project him more or less the same as he's shown nothing to prove he's all of a sudden going to be a 20 goal power forward who's willing to go to dirty areas and hit. boeser even if you don't project him in a few years to be better than he is now.. based on salary cap increase and how players are signed to % of the salary cap usually.. his price tag will automatically be inflated if you sign him now vs if you sign him 2 years down the road unless the salary cap shrinks
  17. with boeser sitting at home watching games? lol
  18. lol the canucks will be out of the playoff race before november even rolls around XD this team needs everyone to contribute the entire year to have a chance of making the playoff.. any of their top player out for a pro long period of time = not a chance
  19. Mis read, regardless hes not a top 5-7 maybe 10 if lucky not in any particular order these goalie are better than markstrom currently in terms of skill unless they all of a sudden have a massive drop. Gibson Rinne bishop binnington fleury (you cant say fleury is older and slower when hes 34 and say Rinne is top of the crop when hes 36 he still had very good stats last year) vasilevsky price rask Bob and murray. In terms of skill. Then you add in the goalies that have good stats based on the coach and team structures Greiss, dubnyk, kuemper, halak and a few others. They all have a much higher save % than markstrom. Even if Markstrom played good in the beginning they will only be similar at best. So to say hes a top 10 goalie is a bit of a stretch. Theres plenty of team out there with just as bad defense and gives up way more shots than the Canucks and have a higher save %
  20. lol you put markstrom over binnington because binnington have been way better than markstrom in the same stretch? st louis defense is worse than vancouver???? what?? gibson doesn't have a great team in front of him but he had better numbers than them for years now and markstrom is better? once again vancouver is over valuing their players
  21. Gibson and fleury in the pacific?? binnington and bishop and rinne in central? all of them capable playing more than 75% of the games
  22. 4 year deal is not short. You can apply the same principle to jake if u want but if you take out all his empty net goals hes projected to exactly the same as he finished at. If hes signing at below market at 5.5 itll be for 2 years.. which would put the Canucks in a terrible spot. If boeser continues to improve and be in the 8+mil range then I dunno how they will get petterson and Hughes and boeser all under contract. Pettersson will have arbitration rights so he ain't signing a low bridge deal. If Hughes is the real deal I dont see how u can convince him to sign for less than myer.
  23. No chance hes signing a 4 year at 5.5 considering what others are signing for. You can say all you want about boeser have no bargaining power, but Benning wouldn't be able to afford to have him hold out if he wantd to compete for a playoff spot to save his job. Not saying boeser would, but he ain't going to sign a bridge deal especially one with a fairly long years attached. They are all waiting for the other rfa to sign so they can have comparison
  24. I dont even see why Ottawa would take loui from us for scraps that we deem not even good enough to make the team.. with the anisimov trade Ottawa are pretty much cap floor already and have no need to take on cap dump without an over payment
  25. Imo you guys are way too hard on goldobin in the beginning when he was getting points was 3rd 4th in scoring you guys complain about him not finishing and scoring goals and complaining about him not playing defense. Then when he started to play more defense late in the season playing with 3rd line plugs you guys complain about him not putting up points. He was more than a .5 ppg player in the 1st half. Hardly a useless borderline Nhl player when theres plenty out there in the nhl that cant score or play good defense
