everything this season will ride on whether Pettersson will be the pettersson at the start of the season.. or if he's gonna be the pettersson near the end of the season. if he plays the year like the pettersson we saw to start his career? we have a good chance to at the very least make it to the playoff.. if he's the pettersson late towards the season where he's no longer a point a game guy even with the addition of JT Miller.. then we'd be looking at a early spring tee time

Will the Canucks win a dispute with NHL on cap penalty?
wai_lai416 replied to Slegr's topic in Canucks Talk
lol i doubt the Canucks would win.. the cba was unanimously agreed upon by the owners.. meaning Aqualini signed off on it knowing the consequence.. you can't just go i accept it now but i'll challenge it later when it comes to the time. -
i don't see us better then any of the 5 teams in the central division so our only path to the playoff is top 3.. the only team i see we have a realistic chance of catching after free agent day 1 is SJ

That seems awfully low return even for a rental ufa especially if hes a star.. kadri Toronto been rumored to want to get rid of for a while now dont know much about Rosen and a 3rd for Barrie at half price? I'm sure if Colorado keeps him till tdl can easily get a 1st plus out of it. Kadri will give them some upgrade in their top 6-9 but he have history of costing his team in the playoff.

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
wai_lai416 replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
So u want to trade Eriksson with 3 years left on his contract with 11 goals.. for a guy that have 4 years on his contract with 6 goals cant kill penalty and cant play with the best player on the planet. How does that even make any sense. At this point I rather just eat the loui Eriksson cap hit for 3 years than take on lucic for an extra year.. unless Edmonton wants to toss on pool party as a sweetener for that extra year. No thx -

lol have you seen lucic play last couple years? it's not his skill.. it's his speed.. he's literally a moving pylon out there -
[Signing] Tyler Myers to Vancouver
wai_lai416 replied to Rush17's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
lol woo is not making the team.. and rafferty will be 7th at best don't even think stetcher needs to fight with any of the 2 mentioned -
doesn't matter how you look at the trade prospect wise. Arizona got better on paper. they also finished ahead of the canucks last season and won the season series iirc. so that's another team the canucks will have to climb to get to the playoff.

lol he wanted to go back to Florida coz idiots here want to run him out of town. he played 8 seasons here.. 6 or so? 100% will have a better goalie one day? in the 100+ years of the NHL he's ranked 3rd all time in wins.. so i like to see where you get your 100% will have a better goalie one day come from lol. if he played his entire career in vancouver instead of florida to start his career.. he prolly past Roy in wins.. he has the 2nd highest Save% all time for goalies with 500+ games and highest Save% of goalies with 1000+ games.. in the existent of the NHL there's only 2 goalies so far with more win.. and 9 goalies with better save% if u don't count games played.. so chances of us 100% having a better goalie one day? is relatively low. winning the cup maybe. Lou deserves to be retired by the canucks since our number retiring requirement is relatively mediocre anyways. i mean bure is great in his short time here.. but his time with the canucks were relatively short. same with naslund. Linden and Smyl both wore the heart out for the canucks.. but really they don't have the stats to warrant their number being retired.. i mean they only lead the franchise coz they played here for a long time but really don't have any accolate to go up there.

[Report] Rangers to offer Panarin 11.25M X 7 years
wai_lai416 replied to grandmaster's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
6 1st rounder in 3 years and 1 being a lottery pick helps + an extra to throw away for a legit top 4 in trouba lol took us 6 years to get 6 1st rounder with 0 lottery pick XD -

wai_lai416 replied to grandmaster's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think rangers can afford to do this they amassed a lot of 1st rounders in the last couple of years and with kakko this year they can have a few elc that can actually step in and play. If kakko is as advertised rangers actually can compete with panarin and some of their prospect they collected -

so why would they sign with vancouver instead of say another team with cap space knowing vancouver have presidence of trying to terminate contract by forcing a player to the minors in hopes he retires? why haven't we seen more teams do that? Toronto could have done that with Marleau instead of giving a 1st to get rid of him. his cap wouldn't count if the contract is terminated doesn't matter if he's 35+ years old. i'm sure he would have retired instead of playing in the AHL. why florida didn't do the same with Luongo instead of having him just terminate the contract which is essentially the same thing but would save them the 1mil cap space for going after panarin bobrosky etc? redden situation is different from ericsson.. redden was buried in the AHL and it doesn't count against the cap Ericsson even if sent to the AHL he'll still count against the cap unless he retires. Ericsson will just stick it to the canucks and float around in the AHL for his 9mil paycheque while the canucks can't do sh*t with his cap -
[Buyout] Hurricanes to buy out Patrick Marleau
wai_lai416 replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Instead we traded away asset for other people's cap dump. Miller is a good pickup but not for the 1st rounder regardless of lottery pick or not. Tampa bay is desperate to move him due to their cap situation and if it makes it past July 1st might be even harder to move him as most team would have dipped into the free agency already and won't have as much cap. Too bad we will never see the so call bid for Miller as I want to say prolly no team offered a 1st. -

Lol no player with a decent name will ever sign with the Canucks if this is the path they go. That's like telling the world we dont honor contracts if you suck and not living up to your contract we will bury you in the minor to force you to retire lol the berglund situation was different as he was traded to buffalo. Sure u save Ericsson's cap but all free agent will think twice before coming to Vancouver or all of them would be demanding a nmc to prevent the Canucks from Bush league move to get out of contracts -
Ok maybe I was wrong about the 200 win but still the only 1 of 2 that legit leads 2 franchise in win. I honestly dont see the Canucks win record being broken anytime in the near future. As most goalies dont even enter the league nowadays till they are 25 26 and they have to stay competitive and as a starter for 10 plus years. Also the team have to be relatively competitive Rinne vaseilesky lundquist are all top tier goalie in their prime. Vancouver's chance of having a top tier goalie is relatively slim. They certainly never had a home grown one with the exception of Schneider but he only had like 2 good years with devils and then injury and stuff pretty much ends his career as a #1. Before Luongo it was captain Kirk and with all due respect not even the same tier.

ya they need cap space hence the only guy logical would be seabrook if they have to trade away a lottery pick even if it's trading down. you make it sound like connor murphy is a negative asset. he's a + 12 on a really really bad hawks team last year. with the way contracts are given. 3.85 for a defenseman that can play is very reasonable... if they have to give away the 3rd overall? the starting point would be you have to take seabrook. they can easily get a draft pick for murphy. all team needs cap space.. and they still have 12mil cap space before moving anyone out atm. strome and debrincat is still on their ELC so they have no immediate need to trade away a guy with a reasonable cap and a short deal vs a guy that have a terrible cap at a long deal
-
lol he's the only goalie in the league history to record 200+ wins on 2 seperate teams.. he's 1 of 2 goalie to lead 2 different franchise in all time wins.. although the other goalie shouldn't even count because he's the only goalie so far in that franchise and likely his record will be broken shortly (Fleury). it's also likely that franchise win record on 2 different team will never be broken. not that many goalies play for 1 franchise for 10+ year and let alone be a starter for almost 18 years..

I'm not mad Luongo retired and stick Canucks with recapture. The way he was treated by the team and a lot of the fans here when Schneider rise to prominent they were ready to run him out of town driving him to the airport. He doesnt owe the city anything.
-
Seriously I think you guys are dumb to think Florida is offering him a higher paying job so that he retires instead of ltir.. why would they want to pay him more and take a cap recapture vs pay him less and no recapture?
-
Overvaluing the prospects progress much? Lind and gadovich doesnt look like they even belong in the AHL atm and u think they'll be a top 6/9 in a year or 2.. sautner and brisbois is no where near ready to be a 4-6 everyday defenseman in the NHL. Juolevi a top 3 later this year? Based on? All your projection you prolly have a better chance at Canucks winning the lottery than you hitting on 25% of them

Nils Hoglander, does this 2nd round pick scream potential?
wai_lai416 replied to koregen's topic in Canucks Talk
Haven't we said the same thing for every 2nd 3rd rounder in Benning era lol
