  1. While the allegation are serious and may or may not be true, I’m leaning towards FA. I find it hard to believe a guy random goes into a kids room while they are sleeping to beat on them till they awake nor if they threw a 5 year old across the room and almost beat them to death like they claimed they wouldn’t end up in a hospital or have police involved? Why didn’t these allegation come out earlier and only comes when they needed more money? And really? 48000 computer? What kind of computer cost 48000? That is required for a university student? I mean if the allegations are true then he should be ousted, but in my personal opinion it seems a bit exaggerated and unbelievable. Let see what the court thinks
  2. lol dobson wanting to stick around or not.. islanders have 3 years + rfa rights to slowly drive up his value.. they are literally in 0 rush to move him rebuild or not.. you keep saying Islander needs a rebuild.. no not really.. they are couple of top 6 from actually being competitive again. they are always a defence first team. their defense looks set.. sorokin looks like a real deal.. their 3rd and 4th line is decent. they just need secondary scoring which they lack.. and injury played a big part to their struggle last season considering they don't score much and they are a defence first team. losing pulock for 1/3 of the season. the 3rd place guaranteed playoff spot in that division is up for grabs.. capital missing wilson and backstrom for a while.. penguin who knows if malkin letang crosby can be injury free.. columbus is a dark horse.. outside of rangers and cane that division is wide open. they prolly aint' a cup contender with that roster even adding a top 6 or 2.. but it's good enough to compete for the playoff
  3. because the fan base believes if you dont have a C on your jersey you are not allowed to be a leader.. when in reality a C or an A only gives you the extra benefit of getting explanation from refs and the added harassment from media after every lost.. captaincy doesn't make player listen or not listen to you.
  4. The problem is poor start is a signature of the canucks.. how many times have we seen the team come out with a poor start in the last few seasons? Even after BB came on board we were still plagued by poor start
  5. lol there's plenty of people on this forum been pretending to be neutral but dishing out subtle hate towards players not just bo in general.. i have my fair share of jabs at Miller not because i hate the player.. i just don't like his temper tantrum attitude, pick and choose when he decides to play defence and when he decides to give up on plays. but the resentment towards Bo here seems more like towards the person rather than the plays.. they dont like him coz he's "soft" he isn't a leader etc etc.. more like attacks towards the person rather than his playing ability.
  6. i always think they are high up on the list especially dickinson.. but no team would be willing to take dickinson at his current cap hit for 2 season especially when it cost more than his AAV unless he have a resurgence and if he does i don't think we want to trade him as he's the type of players we need prior to the way he played last season.. garland i'm not a big fan of.. he's too small and the way he likes to play along the board he's 1 miss timed yet from being on ltir. people keep praising him about his production last year.. the guy was having a pretty bad season up until april where he got on a streak with 16 points.. he was pretty much just doing 5-6 points per month up until april.. and was on pace to finish below boeser.. 1 good month doesnt make almost the entire season of mediocre production.
  7. don't think you need more than an ounce of brain to determine buffalo ain't going to give up their 1st overall pick from a year ago that haven't even played a single game in the NHL for a player that more than likely won't re-sign and/or a player that you determined is overpaid for his cap hit lol.. nor horvat without signficant heavy add is worth a premier rhd with a team friendly contract and still be under team control when it's up.
  8. bo and brock combined wouldn't even get you a Power.. and u ain't getting dobson out of islander with neither brock or bo unless you are adding a 1st + more.. not especially with dobson's team friendly cap hit
  9. not a fan of garland on the powerplay.. in order for him to have success on the powerplay he needs to plant himself in front of the net take a beating and get the dirty goal. he's trying to do too much spinning around skating thru traffic etc losing the puck over and over again. objective of the powerplay draw a defender on you and pass it off to the open guys.. not draw the guy on top of you and trying to spin your way out of it. i hope for the rest of the preseason they play the players they expected to be on the same line to start the season in the same games/same line to get going with the chemistry, rather than trying this guy with that guy with some ahler mixed in it. the fringe ahler can mix together and play the 4th line to battle for spots.. eg if boudreau is planning on kuz/ep/mih or podz stick with it the entire preseason so they have time to build chemistry starting the season. last thing we need is for the regular season to roll around the lines are all different again and they starting from scratch in terms of chemistry
  10. he's going to get every opportunity to make the team. but so far in his limited preseasons the last couple years and nhl games he hasn't shown me much in terms of all the hype around him people here seems to have. hopefully he can prove me wrong as he'd be a good cheap elc
  11. meh it's not like it's his first nhl game. he had 17 or 18 of them previously.. man i remember there were people last year thinking rathbone can replace hughes and we should send him packing to new jersey lol. i still think he needs couple more year in the AHL learning how to be effectively defensively before he can be in the NHL. offensively he's trying to do too much.. and he doesn't get shots thru like hughes for rebound.. defensively he's not doing much..
  12. The difference is the top 4 and their entire forward group are crazy fast.. Our forwards some are fast.. but overall they are not that fast.. and the defense other than than Hughes.. they are all pretty slow.. Myers is not fast, schenn is not fast. OEL is not as fast as he used to be.. and slower than the Colorado top 4. if u ain’t big you at least want to be fast. We are neither big nor fast. We have some fast players but overall as a team we ain’t fast compared to the faster teams in the league more like in the middle or slightly above average
  13. well being fatigue also leads to higher chance of injury. his march GAA 3,4,3,4,2,3,1,6,3,3,1,4 he had 3 great games and the rest were borderline bad to really bad which i blame to fatigue. his last 3 games in april was atrocious partly due to injury and fatigue sv% below .850 in all 3 games with gaa of 4,5,5 demko will only be in the vezina if he stay fresh enough to last the season. he started 61 games played in relief in 3 + the all star game so he played 65 games last season which is almost double his career high. ideally i would play martin every 4th game and back to back.. this should keep demko relatively fresh even if it puts him at around 55-60 games. far too many games where demko would play 10 before halak plays 1 game.. sure you want your goalie to be in a groove but at the same time you run fatiguing him before the end of the season and for the stretch run also you have your backup goalie coming in ice cold which was the case with halak.. if you play demko 3 martin 1 and slightly adjust for upcoming back to back.. that would put demko at 60 martin at 20+ with a few back to backs. which is the perfect scenario for workloads.. until demko proven he can play more than 40-50 games at high level without fatigue that should be the route to go
  14. again that'll depends on whether he's capable of the work load. he was burnt out after 50 games last season and barely made it to the finish line... actually looking back.. he was burnt out after 40 games.. 10 of the last 20 games he has a sub .900 sv% 14 of the last 20 games his goals against is 3 or above. well couple 2.9x in there but that's coz the game went to OT. maybe the experience last year will better condition him for this upcoming season.. we go as far as demko goes.. if he runs out of steam again by march we are in big trouble.. just like calgary. markstrom was great up until april.. then he kinda ran out of steam or maybe injury.. and continued to crap the bed thru the first 2 rounds of the playoff and getting smoked by edmonton. it'll be up to boudreau to manage the goalie.. he needs to give demko the extra breaks from practice and have the balls to eat a loss here and there even if martin is getting smoked to give Demko the break he need unlike last year pulling halak early on a demko game off.
  15. schenn is pretty much locked in whether he's the 2nd rhd or the 3rd rhd depending if they force one of hughes/oel to the right.. really ti's just poolman rathbone dermott keeper fighting for 2 spots + press box. dekeyser won't be offered a contract.. we don't really need him as a depth guy as he doesn't really move any needles
  16. so all i can see is Miller have the most consistent linemate on his line almost all the time? outside of 54 mins he have either a pearson or boeser on his line at all times? 7 less EV goals in 10 less games playing majority of your 5v5 against other top lines and mostly starting in your defensive zone and he's the most useless overrated captain ever. and i dunnno whats consider fine.. literally all the lines with miller on it have the highest GA/60 with the exception of the ep horvat garland line... they literally give up as much goals as they scored..
  17. So eer did u say the same thing about miller before he came to Vancouver?? Coz stat wise it’s almost identical. Only difference between the 2 miller was given an opportunity where Horvat wasn’t. Did kadri ever looked like he was going to be over ppg player ever in his career?? He’s not selke caliber defensively but he’s more than capable defensively and prolly top 30 center in the league in terms of production vs defensive abilities, but for whatever reason some of you believe miller is the best defensive awareness forward on the roster. We have a bunch of forwards and need help on defence.. so instead of moving one of the infinite wingers we rather weaken the most important position outside of the goalie. Logical… first it’s move boeser for defence then garland.. now it’s move Horvat and whoever else as long as it’s not miller u don’t care lol.
  18. Same can be said for every single player on this team including miller. He obviously didn’t move the needle since we missed the playoff every year he arrived well not every year we made the charity play in. Waiting for the team to get rid of bo so miller can become the 70-80 point player because he will have more defensive and matchup responsibility.. Miller ain’t no Stan Smyl or Trevor linden either and give 110% every shift. No one on this team is even remotely close
  19. again i still don't get your point.. horvat have 17 goals EV vs Miller have 24 goals EV.. who plays more tougher matchup EV? Horvat or Miller? so horvat only have 7 less goals in 20 less games than Miller EV playing on the 2nd line with lesser linemates while playing against the other teams top line therefore horvat is bad EV? almost all of horvat's assist in 5v5 situation are primary assist.. what does that tell you? his linemates have 0 playmaking capability.. he also doesn't have the luxury or playing with a QH 5v5 most of the time. brock and ep on his line is very minimal.. brock is literally on JT millers line for 90% of the season 5v5 and EP was on his own line majority of the season. you talked as if they were his most consistent linemates all year. so are you telling me if bo plays 82 games this season they will drop his avg number of faceoff from 22 to 18? just so he stays under 1500? bo have avg 21-22 faceoff a game the past 5 seasons.. what is so hard to understand about that? so are you saying all the future season bo will play less than 70 games or every season the NHL season would be shortened?? coz unless they change his deployment he is still going to get 21-22 draws a night? and that'll end up to be 1700-1800? since Miller's arrival his avg number of faceoff per game never really dropped?? so what the heck are you even getting at?
  20. honestly i have no issue paying horvat 7x8.. as long as we stop having dead caps buy out retention bonus etc.. it doesn't really hurt that much to have 3 centers in the 7-8 range.. most team carry around 2-4mil worth of dead cap every year anyways + a bunch of overpaid contracts.. if we can keep the overpaid and dead cap to a minimal.. paying horvat 7 mil doesn't really hurt the team.. i rather take horvat at 7mil.. then continously adding overpaid contracts on the team.. before it was rousell beagle le.. and now it's poolman and dickinson and possibly mihkeyev whom i still believe is overpaid by 750k.. that woulda easily covered horvat and the difference.
  21. he doesnt owe it to anyone to take a discount. Kadri have one anomaly year at 31 and gets 7mil.. otherwise production is near identical to horvat.. Kadri probably is better than horvat defensively but that doesn't matter coz it seems on CDC no one cares about defensive stats anyways.. if horvat was given a chance at being an offensive guy rather than forced into a defensive role.. i'm sure he can be around 70ish point guy.. or who knows?? kadri have similar or worse stats than horvat offensively up until he was 31.. so we have miller as the top C the last 3 season and still missed the playoff so what's your point? he's not in the selke conversation and he never will be.. he was basically forced into that role on the canucks because there simply isn't anyone on this team capable playing the matchup role.. so how do we know bo at most is a 60 point guy? he was never given the opportunity or chance to be an offensive player.. kadri touched 50 55 and 61 points once in his career and all of a sudden hit 87 when given the opportunity.. did anyone see that coming? i dunno what you mean by bo is the most overrated player here.. he kills penalty.. he takes every single tough assignments.. gets u 50-60 points playing with nobody and a beast in the faceoff circle.. so that's overrated? so you are teling me he's trash? if anything Miller is the one overrated here.. great offensive awareness and instinct and plays tough... but mediocre in everything else outside of faceoff.
  22. i dunno how you get horvat is a 1500 faceoff guy max. horvat have been average 21-22 faceoff a night even when Miller is around.. 82 game season is over 1700-1800 faceoff.. if the season wasn't shortened the previous 2 he's over 1800 again.. and this season his first injury in a while.. he's basically taken top 5 most faceoff in the league in the last 5 seasons.. 21-22 faceoff a night is very reasonable considering how many time the opposing team will play their top line.. or are we going to use the well he only took 1400 last season don't care if he missed 12 games or not dont care if the previous seasons were shorten that's his problem.. so therefore he's max 1500 faceoff guy a night.. lazar can take defensive draws? so if the other team puts out their top line we are going to counter with 4th line lazar to take faceoff? or we going to make miller take more defensive draws and less offensive draws to cover? you think Miller is touching anywhere close to 99 points if he have to take more and more defensive draws? the team can't collectively as a whole replace millers 99 point according to some of you.. but the team can collectively replace his 30+ goals and 1700-1800 faceoff without missing a beat? a bit bias there with the miller love fest
  23. ok i'm off last year but he was pace for 1700+ last season. his highest is 1900+ basically he avg anywhere from 1700-1900 in a full season.. so no i'm not really that off... and you are dreaming if you think islander will give you pulock whom they just signed and in his 1st year of his 8 year deal with a full ntc and take back tyler myers.. EP is not ready to be a full time center taking draws.. he's basically taking draws in offensive zone only.. and there's only so many offensive zone draws he can take.. i'm willing to bet all the defensive draws hes taken were either from icing or the center thrown out of the draws.
  24. so you are trading horvat for pageau + picks? there's literally not much on the islanders that's even enticing that'll make this team better.. trading horvat who's younger for a guy that's going to be 30 1 month into the season that's worse just to save 2mil in cap space sure makes a lot of sense and is a good hockey trade.. so who's gonna take up the extra 500-600 faceoff?
  25. we are talking about year UFA.. there's plenty of time between now and then especially at the draft for teams to make room. carolina will need a staal replacement. boston will need a bergeron replacement. you don't think example these 2 teams would be very interested if horvat makes it to ufa? washington possibly will need a replacement if backstrom is done. there's quite a few teams can make it work with horvat depending on what their plan is either declare their rebuild is over or want 1 last kick at the can with their group.. sure he hasn't earned much more than 6 so far.. but that's not how ufa works now is it?? what have Mikheyev done to earn 4.75? literally nothing 1 good season of 20+ goal and 30+ points. if a 3rd line 20+ goals 30+ points going to get u almost 5mil.. then Horvat's camp is easily going to be looking at 7 for a 2nd line tough min munching faceoff machine that can put up 30+ goals and 50-60 points. that's just the reality.. if the offers are in the 5s and low 6s.. there's really no reason for him to take it as he can easily get more in the UFA market.. you can spin it however way u want no team have cap blah blah blah.. every year we say teams don't have cap and yet the big ufa players get signed to the big contract.. every year there's a team or 2 that suprises and come out of their rebuild earlier than expected. good luck trading horvat for a pick and a prospect at the deadline and think this team can just casually replace him in the next 3-4 season while we still have a prime miller.. and find a capable 2c/3c that's able to take all the tough matchup and the 1600+ faceoffs.. coz u ain't putting a miller or EP in that role to hamper their offense.. and at the same time the 3c u replace him with better be capable of some offense.. otherwise whats the point of all these offensive players in your top 9 if your center don't have any offense in them.
