  1. In Germany alone there are 23 leagues (6 levels). You know, Germany, it's a country in Europe.
  2. The problem is that they now don't have a single Finn on the roster. Don't like that.
  3. You can't go wrong with a Finnish goalie coach, but this particar hire has the potential to be fantastic. Torenius clearly knows what he's doing.
  4. Only 25 pages in this thread today. You guys are slowing down.
  5. Looking at the jerseys in this video, it is no wonder, they didn't win the cup that year. Leipsic, Archibald, Gagner, Pouliot, Gaudette, Del Zotto, Biega, Goldobin. Ouch.
  6. No. BB is a career -35 despite having played on some great teams. The Canucks need D who can actually defend more than anything.
  7. Canucks pick up Juolevi on waivers and start him as 3rd-pair LD. Bold enough?
  8. Having your family jewels squeezed may have side effects... Joking aside, even if he sold the foul well, it was still an invitation by Chabot. In this situation, neutral zone, no danger for the own goal, why overaggressively go for the takeaway and (unintentionally I assume) put the stick between the others players legs? He was getting impatient and paid for it. Not clever.
  9. So you're saying that in 3:3 sudden death OT in the gold medal game, the puck carrying last man feeling a stick massaging his crotch decided: "I guess I'll fall down now and give the puck to the opponent, so I can prevent the subsequent breakaway with a trip." Well, it's possible...
  10. I'm also not unhappy that Julien didn't take home the trophy...
  11. OK. If true I understand the displeasure with the refs. Still I think overall the win for Finland was well deserved.
  12. No, actually I didn't see these two calls and also missed the goals. I only commented on the OT one and regarding the whole game I feel Finland was the better team.
  13. Don't believe the whine of the hometown crowd. Overall Finland played with better structure, controlled most of the game and deserved the win. Canada compensated with physicality and aggressiveness and were consequently called for some penalties. The OT call was stupid on Chabot's part. Lammikko played well btw.
  14. Didn't see the penalties in the 2nd, so can't comment on these. In my view, the overtime penalty was obvious. They could have also called off the 2-3 as the Canadian player knocked/crosschecked the Finnish defender into the net dislocating it before the shot was fired.
  15. That call in overtime was clearly a penalty. Chabot played it too aggressively, had the stick between the Finnish players legs, rubbing his balls. Not the refs fault here.
  16. Yep, moved to Finland two years ago. Didn't catch any other live games on-site, it's too expensive and too long a ride after all, but all the Finland games are on free TV, so I watched some of them and highlights of the other games. Silovs looked great in both games I saw. The tournament is a big thing over here in Finland, everybody knows about it and most families watch it. Should Finland win it again, some NHL team should take a serious look at Jukka Jalonen, their coach, who has basically won anything there is in recent years. Despite individually less talented than others, team Finland plays with amazing structure, discipline and cleverness. Even against Canada now it looks like Finland plays a better team game while Canada just tries to overpower the opponent. Let's see what happens in the 2nd...
  17. I watched him a little this tournament. He's playing well, centering the 3rd line (with Harri Pesonen and Joel Armia), plays the PK, is trusted at the end of games to defend a lead. Nothing flashy in the offensive zone, but a good support piece, a physical presence, good at faceoffs, nice little chip passes, takes the puck to the net, good positioning. His line usually spends a lot a time in the O-zone and creates pressure, energy and momentum. I would certainly keep him, at 26 he is just entering his prime and I believe he has still some upside.
