One of the poster on the training day thread days that besides looking silly at the end of the bag skate he has had a positive camp so far. I think the bag skate thing is being over blown. The question is, is he having a better showing then Rathbone who seems to be standing out in a positive way. I still think he will be a very valuable player for us. With Hughes and OEL being the other 2 lefties I think he fills a pk role on the team where I'm not sure Rathbone does.

Who's billet sister is a f'n rocket, boys?

I'd only be frustrated if the season starts and they look behind because of lack of time training with the team. If they show up on opening night in game shape, then no harm no foul.

[Signing] Tyler Myers to Vancouver
MeanSeanBean replied to Rush17's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think you are correct it's his physical stature that leaves him open for extra criticism. Not many players in the league are over 6 and a half feet tall. Of those players, then are generally defensemen who excel at playing defense. Myers is a shockingly good skater for a man his size, and leans more towards the offense side of the game. I feel his defensive faults are overblown because people expect him to be a stat at home defensemen because of his size. That's not who he is. I like Myers, a lot. I was a big fan of the signing when it happened, and I still am. I think he's well worth his contract, and personally I'm very happy Seattle didn't take him. -
[Signing] Tyler Myers to Vancouver

He was arguably our best defensemen last year. He doesn't deserve the heat he get. -
Not gonna lie, that disappoints me. I still have high expectations for him though, I think he turns it around. This is some tough love from Green.
-
Yes. It was reported he had one of the worst cases on the team. This doesn't really suprise me at all that his lungs are burning a little extra. I'm not worried.

Huh, I get the vibe that goalies are a bit vain and conceded myself. Wonder where I picked that up from Nice to have you back Rob.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Jake was given ample time playing top 6 minutes and wasn't able to succeed. Playing him in a bottom 6 role was to help him focus more on his away from the puck play. If Jake turns it around, I think it's more to do with hitting rock bottom. His face has been plastered all over his home town due to his sexual assult allegations. The team he grew up cheering for, and drafted him, litterally paid money for him not to play for them. Then no one in the NHL would give him a job and he had to sign with a lesser league across the world. You don't have to be a rocket science to see you are on very thin ice at that point and you may not have many opportunities left. I doubt Jake did a lot of saving in his years in the NHL. I bet he really wants to be making an NHL pay cheque for the next few years.

Bold prediction. Juolevi comes in and has a huge training camp and preseason. This kid has had terrible luck, but I truely believe he is still an important piece for us. I have nothing against Rathbone, but I think he starts in Abby and Juolevi makes the opening night.

[Signing] Golden Knights re-sign Nolan Patrick
MeanSeanBean replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
As someone who has also spent their entire life managing migraines, I feel for this kid. I really hope he figures out some effective treatment or pain management techniques. -
His death rocked me. As someone who battled pretty serious depression growing up, he was a huge loss. I would counter point that fighting might have actually kept him around longer then maybe he even expected. Growing up, boxing was a huge outlet for me. Helped me blow off steam, and gave me more confidence. Ripper trained in combat outside of hockey fights and it probably gave him a good outlet outside of hockey and while playing. At least, that's what I hope. Rip Rick.
-
Are you Brashear or something? I didn't say anything about him, I would rank him 2 and Gino 3, behind Rick. It's not about lack of respect when you don't rank someone number 1, it's about more admiration of the person you are ranking number 1. I watched them all, admittedly was pretty young when Gino was throwing. Comparing a heavy and a middle weight fighters are apples and oranges, not to even mentioned in completely different eras of hockey. By default if Donald and Rick went at it in their prime Rick would likely take the lose. That being said, I bet Ripper would have put up a hell of a fight even with a massive size disadvantage. Like he always did. I'll take heart over physical strength every time. You don't need to try to convince me of anything, I think Ripper was our best fighter and that's just my opinion.
-
We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. I boxed growing up (poorly) and the immense disadvantage you have being just a few inches taller, let alone 8, is a massive factor. Tryamkin was a pathetic fighter, but rag dolled people because of his size. Rick vs Gill was a clinic in proper technique, that in combo with his other fights is why he is 1.

Canadian born comedian Norm MacDonald passes
MeanSeanBean replied to kilgore's topic in Off-Topic General
The world just lost a lot of laughter. Norm was one of the funniest guys in comedy, in my opinion. -
Healers are a truely special type of person. I wish you all the best Gawdzukes and I sincerely hope you beat what ever is keeping you down. Stay strong.

I have no idea what I'm talking about? I work with dozens of nurses regularly, and work in Healthcare myself. I'm more then comfertable stating my opinion. I at no time spoke down towards doctors, techs or any other part of the healthcare system. For you to come in guns blazing is ignorant and unnecessary. They are not given nearly enough credit and just because you say the receive some meals that doesn't at all change the legistical nightmare that they are in everyday being overworked and understaffed. Just because you feel the need to defend your wife, from what I'm not sure since techs played no part of saluting nurses, doesn't mean you need to act like that.
-
I work very closely with a number of nurses. They are entirely overworked, under appreciated, and under supported. This has been the hardest time in many of our lives, and that's without being litterally in the trenches with this thing. Our nurses are the hero's of this entire pandemic and should be celebrated as such.

Elias Pettersson | Quinn Hughes - Contract Discussion Thread
MeanSeanBean replied to Bertuzzipunch's topic in Canucks Talk
MacKinnon has 69 points in 50 playoff games. Petey was outstanding in his one go as well, but at 18 points in 17 games he hasn't been as good as Nathan. -
Not even close. I wouldn't even put him in the ROH, personally.
