  1. I got strangely into sumo after working closely with a sumo athlete a few years back. Incredible sport really.
  2. Yeah that guy was a piece of work. Funny enough though, he did call Virtanen out on being cut from the same cloth. It was generally ingnored because he clearly had his own character flaws, but in hindsight...
  3. https://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/C-46/section-162.1.html Up to 5 years in prison.
  4. Thanks for the share of the Stars fans. Sounds like the guys gives it his all, is super reliable and versatile and is an absolute fan favorite. Everyone seemed to reffer to him as a 3C as well, so people who were curious if he'd be a winger or C for us will like that. Based off the fact that he is constantly eating pucks, hits, and kills it defensively I definitely think he will make this team harder to play against. Despite what a couple negative Nancy's around here have to say on the subject. Really pumped we picked him up.
  5. Never said Bob was no good. Also specified that my personal opinion is much higher then Bob then Button. I just think if you're trying to evaluate 2 fellas based off their list, I would say the guys lists who is completely his own thoughts is more impressive them someone who just polls other scouts and complies the data.
  6. Button. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't McKenzie's list a an overview from a bunch of scouts that he he turns into a list? I think Button does his own. Could be wrong on that though. Personally, I tend to take McKenzies list more seriously, but believe Button is the better player judge. If that makes sense.
  7. In YouTube the first highlight video that pops up is this one. Smart play, followed by a beautiful finish. But it's easy to pick and choose what you want to see I guess. https://youtu.be/QAmLSzF8mc
  8. Miller and Myers with Brock as a close runner up.
  9. Really happy for this young man. It's a shame that this is still such a notable act, but regardless it is. To my knowledge this is the first player under contract in the NHal to come out as gay. Hopefully this allows more players to start to be more true to themselves.
  10. I don't think I could agree with that. Benning has actually persued big name ufas to a fault IMO. Eriksson was likely the best winger that year with Lucic and Ladd close runner ups (man, hindsight). Myers was the big name RD his year. Could even argue Beagle was the big name defensive forward his year. Personally, I have always been ok with his signings overall. But hindsight would probably tell us he would be better off saving his money in FA.
  11. While I'm very keen on the idea of JB laying low this year and saving up for next year, I don't think the organization is. If we are going to go after a bigger fish UFA this year Larsson definitely seems like the guy. Would be a natural fit for Quinn, something this team desperately needs. He's also young enough that he can be a long term fit for Hughes as he develops. It's hard to tell with a likely oversaturated Dman market due to the ED whether his services will be as highly coveted as other years. Will be really interesting to see how this offseason a unfolds.
  12. My professional experiences with labrum and younger athletes is normally very positive at least. Hopefully he makes a solid recovery.
  13. It's possible he's a chip off the old block I guess. I reckon Montreal played it smart and sold high on him. That 72 point season wasn't a realistic standard for him, and following it with a under 50 probably solidified that. Montreal won huge with Anderson on that one. I have a hard time judging a player on either Arizona or Columbus. Worst case scenario if he's a cheap grab, he goes to free agency next year and the experiment only lasts this season.
  14. https://www.1stohiobattery.com/columbus-blue-jackets-news/2021/07/6187/the-blue-jackets-will-not-protect-max-domi-for-the-expansion-draft-per-report Wonder what the cost would be? Definitely struggled in Columbus last year, but seems like a lot of good players struggle there. Fills a pretty significant need for the Canucks as a a possible top 6 winger, or a middle 6 center. Plays with a edge, has history with Horvat, seems like good fit to me. He's owed 6 million this upcoming year so might be a cheap get for Benning.
  15. I heard Edlers agent on D&D yesterday and I didn't much care for him. Definitely didn't seem like he delivered the news of a long time Canook leaving the team properly. Wasn't a fan.
  16. Pretty wide spread on the kid. Button has him at the end of the first and Bob mac is thinking 80-90 if I remember right. I don't know much about him myself? Think he's our guy?
  17. Landy is one of my favorite, if not my favorite, non Canuck players. No way I'm paying him 10 million in the flat cap world though. I thought he would be shooting for 8 mil max.
  18. If Powers was 2 inches shorter I don't think he would be in talks for 1st. But I guess if we are playing that game, if Eklund was 2 inches taller he would be a near lock for 1st. I just think Matty will be the better fit for Buff. I'm ok with Svechkov I guess, Just don't think that's our best bet. Johnson has homerun potential at 9, Svechkov seems safe to me.
  19. All good Doc. Just felt it was worth pointing ya in the right direction because it's been a pretty active conversation all day.
  20. Beniers will go first and Johnson will go 9th. That's my call at least.

  22. This. So much this. Anyone saying kids should get a pass when they do stupid things were clearly babied too much as children. I was a hellian growing up. I got into a ton of trouble when I was a kid and teenager. I'm so thankful there was always consequences for my actions. I never once got a pass because I was young and stupid. If I would have gone through life consequence free I wouldn't be nearly the man I am today. My parents made me own up to everything I did, and I'm beyond glad they did. The kid did something incredibly disrespectful, hurtful, and stupid. He should feel the consequences of those actions or he will grow into an inconsiderate, entitled and crappy adult.
  23. What a ridiculous post. I stay off social media like Twitter to avoid posts like this, but CDC still manages to suprise me with some of the stupidity here.
  24. Sutter too. These guys were humble, hardworking professionals. I hope the young guys soaked it all in.
  25. Oh for sure. I'm just happy that we have seen a progression in Brock in non contract years. Speaks more about his character. I think Boeser is one of our better players on the team no doubt, and I think his character is top tier. That's a difficult thing to judge value on. But that's the reason his name is in the back of my jersey, not because he puts up good numbers.
