  1. I remember that video as well. Don't venture to the Jake thread in Canucks talk... Some bozo was saying he hopes his daughter would marry I guy like Jake... Some people...
  2. Great shot as well. I think McTavish might have the best shot in the top of the draft, but Guenther is right up there. He skates well, is shifty, has a rocket one timer, is strong defensively with his stick and smart. Onces he fills out and starts using his body more he is going to be a hell of a player. Our top 6 with both him and Boeser on the wings would be delicious. Clarke, Eklund, and Guenther (in that order) are my top 3 I would love to see the Canucks draft, but I doubt any of them make it to us.
  3. Is your argument against picking Dylan Guenther the fact that Jake Virtanen didn't turn out? Do we even need to get into the conversation of draft expectation (the Bob father has Dylan at 2, while Jake was a reach)? Or the fact that they play completely different styles of games? Or came from different organizations? Or... You know what.. nevermind.
  4. Then you're sleeping on Dylan Guenther, imo. If we get him at 9 I'm absolutely thrilled this draft. That kid is for real.
  5. STOP USING LOGIC! IT MAKES FOR A LOPSIDED DISCUSSION! Nice post, I started formulating a response but then decided against it. These were all the points I was going to hit. Glad someone did it because I didn't have the energy this morning.
  6. Not to mention his shooting percent was through the roof this year. I think he was shooting at like 20%, not substainable going forward.
  7. I think any of these players are at least a slight over reach at 9. I like Sillinger myself, but prefer we trade down if we wanted him. Teams over extend every year to pick C's though. Would be interesting if any of these guys go in the top 10.
  8. No doubt in my mind Johnson is a winger. The only sure shot C's at 9 are Beniers and McTavish imo.
  9. I remember back in the day Tkachuk was interviewed about the drafting process. He mentioned that Vancouver never did a in person interview with him. Clearly Benning heard everything he needed from coaches and other people around Tkachuk. That was one of the moments where I really started to stand behind what Benning was doing with the team. I wanted no part in him being a member of our future core.
  10. I'm still thankful we didn't pick Tkachuk. Hated that guy then, hate him even more now. Glad he'll never wear our colors.
  11. Holy man Craig is not high on Lysell at all. I don't want him at 9, but I still think he's a top 12 or so talent. Craig has him at the end of the first round.
  12. Gotta let it go Jan. Those wins weren't for the fans, the coaches, management, nothing. Those last few wins were for the team, and they earned him. I would have been embarrassed to be a Canuck if they mailed it in for a draft pick. The kids want to win, we can only respect that and support them. We are going to get a hell of a player at 9.
  13. I'm not a fan since I like the draft, but Sam would be a fantastic add. We have a discussion about this going on already.
  14. I probably wouldn't want to move up myself. We do badly need RHD in the future, but we also need them right now. Clarke likely won't be on the team for 3ish years. There is also so much uncertainty in this draft that we could end up with a major steal at our position. That all being said, Clarke would be best case scenario for the Canucks this draft.
  15. Hard to project. I think he will be a more well rounded player in the NHL. Kid has a great head for the game, plays a style that will likely translate well. Goes to hard areas, and has lethal offense to boot. Boeser took a huge leap the last season though. He looked much more well rounded and IMO was our best forward this year overall. I think Guenther will be a top 5 player in this draft when everything is said and done. I really like his game and realistically at 9 he is beat case scenario after only Clarke dropping to us.
  16. Tends to happen when a defensemen enters the league at what.. 20? I feel like he was really young.
  17. Right? Next year has a ton of high quality D that could hit the market. Macavoy, Fox, Lindholm, Werenksi, list goes on and on. While the majority of these players will likely be resigned, I reckon we will see a good 3 or 4 quality D hit the market next year. If we save our dollars, it could play huge dividends next year.
  18. Wonder if Benning has the means to make move for another late 1st. I think Lambos is a huge reach for a top 10 spot.
  19. I didn't think of the Sharks. Guess they are in need as well. I really hope he goes before us, gives us another player to choose from instead of taking the last of first tier of players.
  20. Guenther is a pretty big boy and doesn't play a small game. Kid is a gamer, and I think will end up being the most consistent of the forwards taken this year in the NHL with the way he plays the game. If he's available at 9 I'll be ecstatic.
  21. Why are you so sure about the Wall? Detroit to me is the big player in taking him in the top 10. My buddy who is a Wing isn't convinced they would use that pick on the top 10 on him when Cossa is also very highly rated, and will likely be available with one of their other picks.
  22. This article mentioned nothing about the defense or lack of size. Outside of saying we drafted Quinn and signed Myers (who would be point Benning when it comes to size on D which is what this discussion is about). Curious to why you find this article relevant about the discussion at hand, I think I'm missing the point.
  23. Awesome post. I think overall it's a well thought out plan that would definitely address some of our glaring issues. Personally I would prefer we be more conservative this off season and save our money for a big ticket FA like Parayko, Jones, or Ristolainen. But JB seems keen on being aggressive this offseason, which I understand due to the train wreck we had last season. If we picked up a legit top 4 RH defensemen next season in FA it would go a long way processing our club. But if we spend to much now I'm concerned we won't have the money to pull that off next year. Regardless I'm confident JB will pull something off and I'm excited to see the team next year.
  24. Nobody needs to try to prove anything. People in this thread have already demonstrated their quality to me. You included.
  25. People tend to often mirror their counter part in a conversation. Based off how you have conducted yourself in this thread, paired with so many people tending to be rude to you... Maybe it's time to take a look in the mirror.
