It was proven months ago the owner was using fake accounts on twitter. This isn't breaking news. This is the only source I can find since the original tweets look to be deleted. But this was all going down a few months ago. it happened a few times where FA has forgot to change accounts or done things that old men with fat fingers do on a computer.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
MeanSeanBean replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Horvat is more then just that though. He's a captain of a Canadian market, a true center who absolutely dominates on the face-off, and is held in high regards around the league. I team like Seattle, or New Jersey are likely trading for him to resign him in hopes he bring veteran leadership. Would I make that trade, no, but I can see why a young team does. We already made a trade similar with OEL and I've hated that for a year before the trade even went down. -
Edit- Rick Tocchet Expected To Be Next Head Coach

It's going to be completely unacceptable if we hire a new coach mid season and see some sort of bump in points. It litterally does no good and only hurts this team long term. Unbelievable. -

This is getting really depressing... I would be fine with a bad team, I can support that. But is it ever getting hard to support this franchise with how bad of a tire fire this is... -
Oh man... That looked bad. I hope he's ok.

I guess that's irony, yeah. Personally I just it's yet another example of terrible management, something that has plagued this team for nearly a decade. I don't recall the second statement being reported. I recall them saying they were wanting to lock both players up long term, and management saying they were confident they could do so.

I full expect to see a regression is Kuzmekos point total after this year. He's a very skilled player, but he is being benefited greatly from being under scouted right now. It's absolutely remarkable how often he is able to create space and be left alone unchecked. Yes, their is skill involved with that and he's effective and creating space, but teams will start to become wise to it and checking him harder. Same way Petey used to get his shot off consistently, and now it's less frequent. It takes time, but the league adjusts to players. I think it's likely that Kuzmenko is a 50 point player for the next few seasons. With this team being as weak as it is at center and defense, I'm not convinced the best course of action is to invest more captial in the only position we have at least passable depth in. That's not even getting into he's shooting at a 24.3%. Petey is the best shooter on the team and has a rough career of 16%, Miller around 15%, Horvat closer to a career 13%. I'd say it's completely expected to see Kuzmenko level out to be around a 15% shooter over his career. Holding on to Kuzmenko is likely to see his value diminish, so that statement makes no sense. It's an absolute proven fact that once he's signed for 5+ million contract his value will be lower then at under a million that he is right now. We will not be competing for a cup in the next couple years. Holding on to Kuzmenko and hoping we are competing when he's 30 and on the decline is not good asset management. Your entitled to your opinion, but all this "anyone with two eyes can see" is bull. Better hockey minds then you and me are saying similar things to what I'm saying right now.

It was widely reported that Peteys camp was pushing for a big money/long term deal but the Canucks didn't have the cap structure to oblige. That's why it took so long to get the deal done, Canucks were trying to find ways to move out cap so we could get him under that long term contract. We have no reason to believe that Petey was the one pushing for a short term deal to see how things were going. That was a faliure on the previous management's end to not have the cap to lock up our young star as early as possible.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

Tomasino, Prokop, Fabbro and a pick please and thank you. I'd be open to glass as well, not sure I view him as a true blue chip anymore though, but could be a huge get if he develops. I did want him over Petey, after all. -
-Human rights tribunal against gm and assistant -owner accused of beating his kids -JT Miller, or prized signing, smacking sticks and lacking effort -Dickinson being critical of the team the second he leaves -Scratching a 7+ million dollar player The list goes on and on. I don't blame the media for a second for reporting on this. It's their job, and well deserved. This franchise is an absolute embarrassment right now.

Correct. But if he did want to leave he would just sign a short term deal and ride to UFA. Rumors have been floating for as long as I can recall that Miller and Petey don't see eye to eye. Taking everything with a grain of salt, but wonder if that plays a role. Also doesn't help that this team has no direction, is terrible, and doesn't look to be on the verge of anything to turn it around. Personally, I feel the importance of a high pick this year can not be understated. If we want to keep our franchise player, we have to convince him we can win here. Is there literally any other way of turning this around besides adding an elite talent like Bedard? I truely can't think of one, and that really bums me out..

I don't recall if they had a say in it. To be fair though, those 3 had recently played on the international stage and were lights out good before he was signed. While it was a risky move in year 5/6 of the deal, few people predicted LE would fall off the cliff like he did. That is in stark contrast to OEL. A large portion of the media, hockey minds, and fans saw this coming. I'm an idiot, but I was damn sure that trading for OEL was a bad call based on how bad his play had been declining over the last couple years. It was only hard to see if you were actively trying to ignore it.

The more I think about this, the more I become ok with a bridge deal. 1-2 years, 5 or 6 million. If we fizzles, we're out in a couple years. If he works well we have the option to re-sign him for another handful of years to try to compete. If he absolutely blows up and is looking at a 7 or 8 million contract, we can trade him at the deadline for a even bigger haul then now since he'd be a proven asset. I still think our best time to cash in on him is now, but I can see the world where a bridge deal is even more beneficial. I don't know if signing him for a 6x5 or whatever is a good idea. My Spidey sense says that could bite us allocating more cap to the wings.
