  1. I hope our team plays a great game, everyone has fun, Horvat doesn't get hurt, and we lose by a goal. Go Bedard go.
  2. And it's not even a correct statement at all. All you have to do is go back and read the early pages of this thread and I know I at least personally thought it was a terrible move. I wasn't alone either. I've noticed this poster often posts their opinion as fact.
  3. Potential. It's taking a bet on a under preforming player that could pay off big. The difference is the 2, is we know what Miller is. He'll put up points, but he'll also completely give up on plays after he turns the puck over. If we are trading Schenn, and Horvat (which I think we 100% should) I do not want Miller being the veteran presence on this team. Could you imagine being a young guy doing video work with the team and seeing the veteran leadership dogging it on the backcheck after turning the puck over. That's not how you turn this culture around. I have personally wanted Miller off this team for a calendar year now. This time last year is roughly when the Rangers rumored trade started being talked about and I was fine with taking that deal and moving on. Miller's a good player of you have the leadership committee to deal with his attitude flaws. We do not have that, and I think there is a slim chance this dreadful culture can be turned around with him being a large part of our leadership. I'd taken the unknown over what we know Miller to be. He has shown his true colors this year after securing the bank.
  4. I feel like the majority now sees what is minority were talking about last year. This team isn't good enough to be taking on ageing long term contracts, and Miller attitude doesn't help build a new culture that we desperately need
  5. Take what ever you can get for Miller and move on. Should have taken the Rangers deal last year.
  6. Yeah that's fair. I could see a world where the Canucks take a run at Suchanek. I don't know if Milic is a Clark guy though. He likes them long and raw.
  7. I think they are ready grooming their potential replacement in Silovs.
  8. 1. Petey is 100% a star forward. He's been next to unbelievable this entire year. His compete level is unmatched. 2. Nope. This franchise hitched their wagon to Miller instead. It's a crying shame, but it is what it is. Horvat has much higher value, but in a perfect world neither would be on the team by year's end. 3. Failure. That entire trade was the beginning of the end for me. It dictated a direction for this franchise that was highly unlikely to be successful and I wish that trade never happened. 4. Myers is a little overpaid, not extremely. 5. Mikheyev has been good for us, still not sure if it was the right call spending that last bit of cap on another forward though. Kuzmenko has been a homerun. That being said, it still might be in our best interest to trade him. His ELC with how well he's been playing may be worth a haul this deadline. That being said, I'm a big fan so I'm also ok if we resign him.
  9. My wife, who doesn't really follow hockey, watched the end of the game with me. When he said this, she looked at me and said "who's that guy, I like that guy", with no context who that guy was. We all like that guy....
  10. It definitely has the potential. Signing Miller has the potential to handicap our chances of competing with Petey. I'd also argue that OEL/Garland have a similar effect on the team. It's not to late for this franchise to right the ship, but Gord damn is it looking bleak right now.
  11. I'm not sure the difference really? Both are weak mentalities that lead to dreadful team play. Bottom line is, it was reported the room wasn't good. Tons of folks here lost their minds and denied it, and now we're seeing it in real time. I'm not going to address Miller, but I entirely agree with your assessment.
  12. Remember all those months back where Kypreos was saying this. The majority disputed it tooth and nail, while a few of us thought... Huh yeah that makes sense. Suprise surprise.
  13. Right on, good talk... People tend to forget he was in top 3-5 of some mock drafts leading up to the draft. Centers and Defensemen were valued higher, and a winger fell because of it. He would have made Boeser expendable, and we wouldn't have also had the 12 million on the books for Garland who's been invisible, and OEL, who I won't get into at all.
  14. Was my favorite prospect that year, yup. Was vocally about it the entire season leading up to the draft. Made my opinion first clear on this trade on page 3 of this topic and haven't changed it since.
  15. In my opinion, that's a risk I'd be willing to make. I don't believe this team can compete without a major overhaul. This team could be equally as bad if we don't sell off a ton of players, and Petey could still end up walking leaving us with an declining core of Miller and Horvat... This team is just terrible this year, and this is with one of the top scorers in the league, and a capped on team designed to making the playoffs. I can't assume it would be much worse if we sold off players. Maybe the new guys coming in would show a little effort and the team wouldn't be much worse...
  16. Horvat, Kuzmenko, Boeser, Miller, Garland, Pearson should all be traded.
