[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
MeanSeanBean replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Been this way for a year on my end. -
Entirely agree. Peteys bad start was a player looking a step behind. Effort was there, was skating hard, trying to be sound defensively. The puck just was not on his side. Miller's bad start is producing at a decent clip, but dragging his ass around the ice, giving up on plays, skating lazy and yelling at teammates. Not even close to the same thing.
-
Catch him slamming his stick on the ice and yelling at Hughes last game too? I'm so incredibly disappointed we didn't start the rebuild this summer and trade JT, or at least not extend him forever so we could trade him this tdl.

Crap... -
Miller is supposed to be part of this teams leadership core and be leading this team to victories. I personally don't recall one game this year where JT was the driving force that won us that game. Horvat, Petey, heck even Mikheyev have taken over games. He's been unable to play well enough to hold a spot at center, even though Alvin himself said they viewed him as this teams 1C. All you have to do is watch his effort on either of the first goals against us last night to see his effort is not even close to where it needs to be right now. I strongly disagree that Miller isn't part of the problem. This team has many issues and many reasons why we are in the position we are in. But Miller is definitely one of those issues.

[Rumour] Senators shopping Nikita Zaitsev
MeanSeanBean replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
These are the types of trades I wish we had the cap space for. Pick up players for assets. -
We are in a fundamental disagreement. LA was ranked by many as having the top prospect pool last year, and still within most ranking of top 5 or 10 this year after spending assets to build their team better. They are allowing young players to develop in a winning environment, surrounded by an aging cup winning veteran core, all while showing respect to their long term players and giving them one last chance at a cup like we did for the Twins. In my eyes, the Kings are a model rebuild.
-
You mean Fiala who they were able to trade for with a blue chip d prospect and a first since they already had plenty of prospects and Aridvsson who they got for cheap with draft picks because they had cap room? Danault was free, only costing them cap space because they could afford to throw cash at him having players like Kaliyev and Vilardi are young and cheap and also in the top 10 of scoring on their team. Clarke, Byfield, Turcotte, and Pinelli could all come in and be top of our prospect pool. I'm really not sure what your argument is trying to prove here? Yes, they acquired good players because they rebuilt the right way and had an absolute gluttony of high end young players they could use as currency to make their team better. Top 3 in the west better.

Huh? LA is 3rd in the Western Conference and have arguably the most robust prospect pool in all of the NHL. I think they have done their rebuild very well. They would have had zero need to extend the losing longer. They filled their prospect pipeline and their young team is getting a taste for winning. I'd trade our whole team/prospects for theirs in an absolute heartbeat. They are going to be a force for a long time.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

Thoughts on Hoglander? I think he's firmly in the second group. I low key think he's an incredibly important part about this core going forward. -

I was one of the few people who was down for the Rangers Lundkvist trade last year, so don't need to tell me twice... -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

This section of CDC makes me sad Are we still talking about trading Miller. As much as it pains me, it feels that ship has sailed. We're stuck with him. We gotta own up to our mistake and move forward. Should have traded him last January like some of us said. It's too late now, and we're gonna have to trade the far more important player instead. -

This is what people are upset about? I don't know what people you are blanket statementing about but I'll tell you why I think. I think this team is struggling to stay afloat, and instead of the player who's supposed to be part of our veteran leadership, the player who's about to become our highest paid player picking up his bootstraps and actually putting in some effort on the ice, he acts like a child and has a tantrum on a 3rd string goalie. That's not even to mentioned that the 3rd strong goalie in question was the only reason that game was close to start while Miller was having yet another in a long line of uninspired performances this year It's a terrible look. You can defend it all you want, but it was an absolutely bone headed and self-centered thing to do. Then to double down and glare at him on the way back to the bench. Miller needs to give his head a shake. He's currently part of the problem, not the solution. -

I don't believe this is correct. Faber and Quads addressed this today. Canucks fans were pretty split on the whole subject since we're pretty used to Miller pulling this kinda crap. Outside of the market it seemed more like people were absolutely shocked something like that would happen on ice. We're kinda used to it now. This sums it up pretty close to what I'm describing actually. Other teams fans are ripping him pretty hard. It was a really bad look. -

If we wanted to make him captain it should have been when he got here. Taught the whole team to make high risk plays and float defensively so we could have truely competed for Bedard this year. -

Oh Gord I hope not, he may been one of, if not the worst choice, on this team to be captain. -

I hope that's not true. In my experience you're a bit sassy, but I've always valued you as a poster even when we don't agree. We all have good takes and bad takes. I hitched my wagon on Virtanen and Juolevi for example. The Miller one is fresh though, so it might sting a little more. You can't get em all right. I've been vocal trade Miller for a litteral calender year now, so I've had some posters really jump down my throat. I don't recall you ever being one of them. -

In your defense, the majority did support signing Miller. I'm super disappointed that my opinion on Miller is being proven so incredibly justified before his new contact even kicks in... This is the leadership group management chose to go forward with... -

If he hates losing so much maybe he shouldn't be playing like such a liability defensively. I think he should have been traded because of his work ethic defensively, his tendency to make high risk plays, his lack of ability to play C at a top 6 level, his age not fitting with the rest of the core, and his general perceived attitude. Him 'hating losing" has absolutely nothing to do with why I desperately hope this management swallows their pride and fixes their mistake before his NTC kicks in.- 927 replies

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
MeanSeanBean replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We already made a mistaking doubling down on Miller. Horvat is just going to be a casualty of what we have to do to move forward. We can not keep rolling out this same lineup and expecting to be a contending team. They have proven this isn't it. We won't know how close we are until we start making the hard calls.
