  1. To be fair, he was terrible in the first period. I rewatched the Mikheyev turn over a few times that lead to the goal. He passed out front to Horvat and missed hin. But from my eyes, Bo stood there for a completely unacceptable amount of time before even turning around for a backcheck. It was like his gut reaction was to not give a damn about defense and have a quick pout he wasn't getting another goal.
  2. They are polar opposite personality. They actually have a lot of similar takes when it comes to the team though. Except for Miller, Sat was pro signing him while Drance wants to rid all big money.
  3. My heart.... The only draft eligible I was more hyped on in the last 5 years (that actually felt like we could pick) was Seider. Luckily my good buddy is a Red Wing, so I still get to follow him a bit.
  4. Putting words into my mouth at the end a little bit. While I do like Boeser, I don't think he should be on this team. Nor do I think Miller should, or Horvat unfortunately. Re-signing him and hoping for a bounce back to try to mine value out of an asset that had none was 100% the right move by management this summer though. What irritates me is the idea that this was a horrible signing they day it happened and it's been a failure ever since. It wasn't a bad signing, at the time it was a good signing. The majority saw it for what it was, a horrible QO and a down year. We needed to hope he rebounded so we could trade him for some value. Literally no one was even mentioning the idea of letting him walk being the best option. It was always a sign or trade, and clearly there just wasn't a trade available.
  5. I don't agree, at all. It's like everyone conveniently forgets the bubble year when they make this argument. Boeser was playing extremely well that season. He had taken huge strides defensively and was playing legitimately good 2 way hockey. It's extremely difficult to judge a played based off a season like Brock had last year. Go re-read the Brock Boeser signing thread. Very few people here critical at the time. Infact, the overwhelming majority were applauding it. It's completely bogus to now say it was a terrible signing because it hasn't worked out. You yourself said this about the subject "Yah, I like Brock. That's a decent value and he is a legit PP threat. The contract should be tradeable as he's a perennial 25 goal guy and maybe 30+ in the next 3 years" That doesn't really sound like at the time you felt "Brock should have been dumped", so it's disingenuous to now say it was a horrible signing at the time we there's no way we should have ever done it. This team had/has extremely limited resources to make this team better. Retaining Brock and hoping for a bounce back was a necessity.
  6. I like this deal for the Sens. Zub is solid defensively and does a great job limiting shots and chances. Finding a European FA defensemen like the Sens did with Zub would be a game changer for us.
  7. It was. If this exact trade would have went down with the other rumored team at time, Boston, it likely would have been a great move. Boston would get off money short term, add a couple good players, and take a couple more stabs at the cup and worry about the ramifications later. But, it was us. The state of this franchise the this trade happened dictated it was a terrible move. It's only got worse since then. It is what it is, and it's a big ol' bummer.
  8. Lol you still didn't address a single point I made in my post. You're just bitching about it.
  9. Why? I have seen this argument several times here and it's baffling to me, and a prime case of revisionist history. In 20-21 he was arguably our best forward. He lead the team in points and had taken massive steps defensively. In 21-22 he had a very bad year, but there is a very reasonable response to of why that could happen. A young man was in the process of losing his father while he was away from home. Boeser had a severely limited value coming off of a bad year, and a massive QO looming over. But in the last 2 years, he had been our best forward, and been bad (but it's very hard to blame him for why). There were rumors that management had explored a trade, but the value because of the QO was just not there. Not only was NO ONE at the time mentioning the felt that the best option (or even an option at all) was to let Boeser walk but it would have been completely nonsensical.
  10. But wouldn't a poor mans Tanev been a like minded player who played a similar style, but worse? I'd be thinking players like Jensen, Pelech or Zub. Players who's primary job is to limit shots and chances against. Did I have Poolman totally miss labeled in his time here? I saw him as a defensive liability more then an asset when on the ice.
  11. Is he? Poolman never looked like a steady, defensive presences on the back end to me. He looked like he could skate, move the puck, and was prone to making bone headed defensive errors. I never once concidered him a defensive slatwart.
  12. How does this trade even come to fruition? What was the conversations like between GMs to orchestrate such a consequential trade? Really shows how connected these GMs are. Let's go Alvin, time to do something was months ago.
  13. I feel like I've heard them even say they would prefer not to be paying 3 coaches at the same time. Which is reasonable.
  14. I don't see it the same way. I just don't think there is any point. Bruce is clearly not the issue, and this team isn't going anywhere this year. Best case scenario is what? We get a new coach, it bumps our play a little, we finish just outside on a playoff spot like last year? Just let it play out and focus on what really matters, fixing this tire fire of a lockeroom.
  15. I reckon I was one of the only people on CDC who was down for that trade. It was wild on page 560 (or whatever it was in January of last year) in the trade Miller thread when I said I would take it. Was the most replies I ever got to a message, had something like a dozen in an hour. Shoulda woulda coulda.
  16. I'm surprised Hughes isn't part of that category as well, but I guess if the Devils wanted to pay a premium and a half to have 3 brothers playing together I'd listen. I apologize if I'm a broken record, but quotes like this really make you realize just how much if a bunder signing Miller was...
