With their current contacts? Boeser. It's short term, and he has high probability of returning to a form that could see him being valuable on a short term deal in the final year of the contact, particularly if the Canucks would retain in that final stretch. Miller on the other hand hand has a huge contract left, but may still have value right now if we were to trade him. Not nearly as much as with no contract, but that ship sailed. This team needs to shed as much salary as possible, and do their best not to sell low on the minimal assets we have.

I'll check out other teams Reddits if I'm trying to formulate an opinion on a player or prospect I haven't seen enough. Fans are some of the best judges of a player if you take the general consensus with a grain of salt. For example, if you polled hockey fans around the league on Horvat they would probably call him a 2 way player who's good both offensively and defensively. As fans, we know he's a scoring center who gets by defensively. We actually watch the games so we have a better idea of what's going on.

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

I sincerely believe Miller is the worst option for C on this team. -

BUT IT IS. This is part of the reason I hate that Dingus owner so much. Teams with strong fan bases can rebuild. As fans, we just need transparency and honesty. The Rangers sent out their letter, and fans stuck it out. Montreal embaraced the rebuild and their fans leaned into a hard working young team. What this franchise has done to it's fans over the last handful of years has been low down dirty. I hope this franchises value keeps tanking, I hope Dingus looses boat loads of money. It's self inflicted for being such a terrible owner. -

[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

Yuuuuup. I've had this discussion a few times already. Everyone was banking far to heavily on the cap going up. It should have been a nice to have, not something that we were relying on to improve the team. -

Again with the hair? You're the only one that's talked about his hair in years... I sense a little projection going on here. -

Send them Horvat and OEL then. Let's get this rebuild started!! -

But it was everyone, not just them. All the talk here, in the media, around the team. It was all the same. It seemed like a completely accepted fact that it was one or the other, and if JT started the season with the team and no contract it was a completely failure. Am I wrong and just remembering wrong? It never seemed like selling at the deadline was an option with JT. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

This is something I've been thinking about a lot recently. In the summer it just seemed like it was what it was. They had to sign him or trade him. Starting the season without a contract or deal just wasn't an option it seemed. But looking back now...why? Imagine this team having both players on expiring deals for the tdl? Could have kickstarted a rebuild in a massive way. -

Entirely agree. The best thing that could happen to this franchise is this idiot selling the team. -

Definitely not all of us. I've been saying since last January the worst thing this franchise could do was double down on more long term contracts. -

I feel like my guy gets me to make some fun picks when it comes to players who become good, but I also make many picks of players I think will be good who aren't. Maybe I'm to optimistic to have an objective view sometimes. -
Lol do you not see the irony of this post? You took the time to read "many of these posts" instead of going outside and getting some fresh air, and then decided to try to insult other and tell them to "get a life"? At least other people are wasting their time having spirited debates about something they're passionate about instead of just being a crotchety ol' hypocrite. Maybe it's time to go outside for walk, get a fresh perspective on how you spend your free time aqua

This move is easily the worst in Bennings era. As bad as Eriksson ended up being, it didn't matter. It was dead cap during a time the team needed to rebuild anyways. The OEL trade has handcuffed this team through prime years where we in theory should have been able to try to ride Peteys prime to a cup.
-
It should have been both. I was praying this team would trade Miller in the summer and sign Rodrigues as our 3rd line center. With the team the way it's playing now, we could have traded Horvat as well this year for a haul. Team would have tons of space and some tangible assets to start a rebuild/retool/rewhatever.

Curious, but what about the player makes you think bust? I have made some good calls in my time (I was vocal that Seider was a top 5 pick his draft year) but it's easier for me to see skills that transfer, not skills that don't transfer. What do you see in a player like Byfield that makes you think it won't translate? His size and style of play? -

Byfield looks an awful lot like Thompson at the same age... Seems very premature to call him a busy at this point. Guess we'll see. -

What am I missing about this guy? Doesn't seem any better then some other players passing through this year. -
