  1. I'd love to keep Bo, but it begs the question. How does the D get fixed. We are asset poor.
  2. Not sure if it's actually an acronym for something, but it's a statistic Faber invented to see how much... Dog is in a player on any given night. It's a combination of different stats then all mathed up to form a statistic number to how much fight a player is putting up every night. For example, if a guy is blocking shots, throwing hits, involved in play he's got some dog in him that night. He's playing well. If he's passive and not involved, no dog. From what I gathered, it's a numerical statistic to try to track the "give a shit" level of players. Schenn, Burroughs, Petey have often had big DAWG nights. OEL, Miller(on his bad games, on his good games he rates high), Kuzmenko often rate lower on the DAWG rating.
  3. But not even. As far as a win goes, that was brutal. Yes, a wins a wins a win. But that game wasn't anything that changes the direction of this team. This teams going to win games before the end of the year. If we want to tank, we gotta commit to it. I don't think we are going to do that.
  4. But to what end? We rolled that top 6 lineup put this year and it's been terrible. I know Boeser would open up cap space, but not enough to fix the D core.
  5. Remember last year when it felt like the masses wanted JT to be captain. I always felt that would have been a terrible call. The 3 votes behind Schenns 11 tell me the rest of CDC has started to see what I've always seen in regards to Miller. He's a good player, but he's not a captain.
  6. Fair point. Points gained and points loss. I'd love to see both traded and a young C with top 6 upside who needs opportunity and a potential righty for Quinn acquired. Any picks or prospects on top of that is just gravy.
  7. I haven't considered this perspective. If the Canucks didn't like the trade value he had unsigned, might as well try to change the value by giving him a contract. I doubt they had that in mind when signing him, but who knows. JR in a interview recently said that they would now need to seriously consider trading players they wouldn't have in the summer. I assumed he was talking about Horvat at the time of the interview, but maybe Miller is part of that discussion as well. I don't want to trade Horvat, but I think he might have too much value to not trade. But, in my opinion, if you trade Horvat you have to trade Miller as well. Embrace the darkness and hope a new leadership of Petey and Hughes can emerge in this wake of the change.
  8. I would honestly be shocked if we got a deal that big for Garland. Bjorkstrand just went for a 3rd and 4th this offseason. To me, he seems like a pretty good comparable to Garland. It's wild that you could argue that we traded Guenther for him just a couple years ago and now I personally doubt we could get a 2nd...
  9. I don't buy this Miller is immovable thing. But I do think we get a reduced version of what most of the board thought was a bad trade a year ago. Been saying is since last January, that Lundkvist deal looks might good right now...
  10. Boy howdy you're might sensitive for someone ranting about people being too sensitive.
  11. Right! The phrase itself as innocent it's it's usage that could be considered questionable by some. We actually have a ton of words and phrases that follow that exact situation. Languages is fascinating with how it evovles. I started taking interest in it as a teenager after I got my diagnosis. It was my way of leaning into a flaw.
  12. Not naive at all, this one is very insidious and likely, outside of pockets of effected communities, wouldn't be known to most. It was a quote used by (didn't remember his name, had to look it up again) Thomas Carlyle in the 1850s when slavery discussions were at a peak since it would end later in the mid 1860s. It was the first record of the phrase being translated from German to English, and Carlyle was using it in a pro-slavery essay. AGAIN, this is not a shaming or telling you to not use it, AT ALL. I just find language powerful and like to know the origins of the phrases we use. This phrase has not effected me in anyway, so I don't have an opinion on it one way or the other.
  13. Fun fact. The idiom "don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" can be traced back to the early 1500s where a German carver had illustrated a woman doing this and equated the idea to not being foolish. Cause obviously chucking your baby out the window is foolish. It was then re-popularized in the 1850s in America and associated with negative racial connotation towards the Black population, who were at that time still slaves. This phrase (while I don't find inherently negative since it has a very innocent origin) along with others like "Masters bedroom" are starting to be phased out slowly in some parts of the world. To be perfectly clear, this is not me harping on you for using the phrase. At all. As someone who struggles with dyslexia I just find researching the origin of words and phrases interesting to help me understand our language better. I had previously researched this one and found it interesting. Far more interesting then the majority of Canucks games this year, at least.
  14. Just gonna say. Multiple coaches with the same results. Something is fundamentally wrong with this team. I fully believe there is a combination of these guys that will.ve an elite team. That's why I push a rebuild so hard. I don't want to see that talent wasted away..
  15. One thing is for sure, it couldn't work out any worse...
  16. Quit yelling at clouds. There are more then enough cases of racism, sexism and transphobia to fill your boots. Just because a story comes out that doesn't necessarily sound like it fits the bill doesn't mean everything else gets a free pass.
  17. This year is so deep. Getting more picks should be our first priority. But even long term, more local guys like Celebrini are slated to go top of the draft in 24. A very real chance we could grab some elite hometown talent if we start the rebuild now.
  18. If there isn't more to this story, this sounds like a stretch to me. Sounds like he was being a massive douche, but doesn't sound like he was being an asshole just because she was a woman. I don't like that he initiated physical contact with her with her though. I would say the same thing if some drunk asshole tried to touch me though as well. Don't touch people.
  19. Sounds good bud, taker easy. See you Tuesday for the buffalo game!
  20. I don't agree with this. Getting angry is what leads to JT floating on the back check and giving away pucks. Not all players need to be angry to be effective, and not all players are more effective when their angry.
