  1. Good for Australian Canuck fans to see Nathan Walker at Utica. Closest we'll ever get to an Aussie on the roster.
  2. Sick of colleagues drinking my milk at work. Bought a fresh bottle a few weeks back and got busy with a sharpie. #untouched
  3. That last shot the fairway is actually two. Bit dark but the fairway splits between the two bunkers, with a parallel hole to the left. That's a Royal Melbourne'ism and the opposite of the majority of golf in the US. Generous driving areas, but firm tricky greens that reward the player that drives into the preferred side. (Centre of fairway often not ideal) US pro golf is fast becoming just smash and wedge which is really sad and a million miles from what Dr. Mackenzie, Colt, Allison, George Thomas and other golden age architects intended. Hopefully USGA and the R&A will see the light before its too late.
  4. Pretty nice out all the same. Sandringham GC by Mike Cocking of OCM. Interesting case study here. This is a municipal course next to (and managed by) Royal Melbourne. Being rebuilt shorter, but fun and interesting with private course style greens. Loving what's been done to date (9 of 18 on play) and could be a model for other tired and boring municipal run layouts.
  5. Its winter! Ice on my windsceen when I left, and would be snowboarding 3hrs away if it wasn't for the stupid rona. #AustraliaIsNotAnOven
  6. First covid mask round today, not fun but glad to be on course. Masks became compulsory down here in Melbourne on Wednesday. Will try surgical style tomorrow for 9, industrial type uncomfortable after 4hrs.
  7. Australia come from behind to knock off Canada in game one, 108 vs 92. "The Boomers have got their World Cup campaign off to a winning start with a 108-92 win over Canada as Matthew Dellavedova exploded with 24 points on some high quality shooting. Australia had to show plenty of heart to pull off the win though as Canada came roaring back in the third quarter with 37 points in the term to go from being down 52-40 at halftime to leading 77-76. The Boomers rallied in the last term to blow the Canadians out in an important win for their for and against but it was Dellavedova’s shooting and Joe Ingles’ 10 assists that had the commentators and fans talking."
  8. Couple of years ago in early April a lower ranked collegue told me to call back a potential new client Ellie Phant. After an awkward minute or two the person whom took my call explained they were the zoo and it was indeed the 1st.
  9. As opposed to all those mighty plastic straws you and I have used, which have a life cycle estimated at 200 years.
  10. As an Aussie who fondly remembers well spent youth in BC and loving the Canucks, it comes with much sadness when we lose another in your mighty Province. Sadly its almost an annual story. RIP Alison Raspa, Owen Rooney, Leigh Barnier and now Lucas Fowler to name but a few in recent years. RIP adventurers. Perhaps if we can find your boy missing in OZ for too long, Prabhdeep Srawn we can unwind the trend. Any chance the bearded chap seen arguing with the couple, is also the bearded chap found dec. near the missing lads camper?
  11. Local sports players named Daniel Talia. Every time his name is mentioned I smile and think of his sister Jenny who does not exist. I am a bad person and can't stop these immature thoughts. :-(
  12. Well done Peru on *qualifying* for WC18. Fake closing an airport for the incoming team, fireworks, military jet flybys of team hotel at 3am and laser pointers during the game. #stayclassy
  13. Who swings harder, New Zealanders or Canadians? http://i.stuff.co.nz/national/91781686/canadian-man-pranks-christchurch-golf-club-with-secret-sex-group-to-get-off-group-email-list
  14. Just played putrid this morning and have done for a month. Lost all rhythm and borderline putting yips. To make matters worse got thunderstormed off for an hour, to just sit and ponder only 9 freakin points at the turn. At least you guys get winter to ski and forget about the stupid game. #ventover
  15. The horribly pro USA morons yelling out at every chance, get in the hole etc and even one sledging Rory yelling out Wozniacki are a blight on the game. Should be ejected. Arnold Palmer and other past gentlemen of the game would be ashamed.

Raonic just taken the first set of Roger at the Brisbane International. Serve looks close to unplayable, just smashing it.
  17. Stay strong applejack, prayers from across the pacific. The sun will rise again.
  18. The world's best golfer wins HER 10th professional title at 18 years of age, Lydia Ko you star. Seriously anyone with a passing interest in golf should be trying to watch Lydia at some stage. No one male of female has or had such a record at that age. Last year she won at Royal Melbourne when the greens were prepared as hard and fast as they ever are for men (dining table hard). She missed 6 greens in four days. I doubt there is a man alive in the world that could match that level of accuracy over 4 days on such greens.
  19. Australia once had a reality TV show to see if we could identify a kid who could make it as a pro. Today we have a #1. We done Jason Day, an amazing journey and probably the best year since Norman.

Onward to the Kiwi's now. I know most of you are dissappointed, but it will be a cracking final if they both play to their potential.
  23. Only a friendly I know, but pretty happy with a 2-2 result, Australia v Germany at Kaiserslautern.
