  1. Also, his assertion that we have played a string of tanking teams is not entirely correct. The last 15 games, we are 11-4. 10 out of the 15 games were against teams higher in the standings that were either fighting for a wild card spot or at the top of their divisions.
  2. I'll be the first to say it. The canucks don't want to get Focht next season.
  3. as Downundercanuck has said, the coach is playing these players on different lines. That is the extent of what we would call contributing to their development. Tocchet also wants to establish a culture which you earn your playing time. Not going to do that if you are gifting them minutes when they play bad whether you are developing them or not.
  4. The Tank was gone the minute Demko came back. While he hasn't had to stand on his head and steal games like last season (which is a good thing) he has provided solid NHL level goaltending. He's had a rough season and it was important to him to get back on track which means playing the minutes that your expected to as a #1 goaltender.
  5. The two small elephants in the room (the big one was traded right Alf?) need to be addressed. I'm referring to Poolman and Pearson. What happens to them also affects what we do in the off season. Are they staying on LTIR? or will they be playing? Traded? Retire?
  6. I not saying that it won't be but how much of a difference picking say 5th as opposed to 11th remains to be seen.
  7. There's been a ton of hype surrounding this draft. Other than the top 4, don't be surprised if the rest of the draft does not live up to that hype.
  8. There are a few teams that need to reach the cap floor. Those teams are rebuilding and need warm bodies to fill their roster. Players like AB and Myers don’t have term and can be flipped at TDL by those teams that we trade them to. They may be able to get back at least what they gave up to get them
  9. For those that are still saying this bump was like last year, rewatch this game. We absolutely smothered one of the top teams in the west.
  10. Reimer is an adult so he is certainly entitled to make his own decisions whether its right or wrong. At the same time he will need to accept all the repercussions that come along with his decisions. Wearing a pride Jersey isn't about promoting or accepting the LGBTQ lifestyle its about accepting those in the LGBTQ community as Human Beings.
  11. true that. 6 to 7 million $$ defensemen usually provide a lot more offense than Gavrikov has provided over his career. Tanev is a good comparable to Gavrikov. To me 5 million is as much as I'd be paying. 4.5 with term would be a fair deal.
  12. We aren't done yet. Still work to do. 3 or 4 of the defensemen you see now probably won't be in our starting lineup next season. Same goes for the forwards. Mgmt is fully aware of the slow starts to season that we've had. They will do everything they can to not repeat this. Tocchet has already requested that some of our younger players stay in town for the summer to work on their conditioning. We always think that hockey players are already in top shape at the start of the season but that is not always the case with all the players.
  13. I thought I heard somewhere that he was nursing some kind of injury suffered a few games ago. not 100% sure though. He hasn't looked the same for a few games now and has been absent from the scoresheet.
  14. He had both sides listening to what he had to say. Those against and those in support. But I stopped listening to him after the TDL. Not because he was negative but more because it was the same stuff over and over again.
  15. Its becoming a running joke with the morning crew. every time he is set to come on, the other guys joke about whether they can coerce him to say anything positive about the team. His schtick is wearing thin now.
  16. They want to go with this core obviously. I think some here are way too obsessed with the slim chance at Bedard. It seems this tanking talk goes on every year that we have a poor start and out of the playoff race early. Some here underestimate the importance of a good system that emphasizes a good defensive structure. No i'm not talking about the trap or any other system that retards offense. I was really impressed with LA and how disciplined they were as an example. People say same old same old. Poor start with a good finish to take us out of a better draft position. But to me there are differences. Having watched them closely all year, I can say they are playing much differently now than they did at the start of the season. The encouraging thing is that we are winning with a largely AHL defense and missing our captain which we traded almost 20 games ago. Mgmt. will still be making some moves in the off season. The roster you will see now won't be the same at the start of next season.
  17. I have a cheap version of the ones from the 80's but would like one of the newer game weight ones. Waiting for a Bedard one.
  18. As much as we groan about our own anchors in OEL, BB and Myers, they are even more screwed. Huberdeau will kick in at 10.5. Similar in age to Miller but Miller is better than Huberdeau and at only 8. Marky is 33 and has another 3 more years at a million more than what we are paying Demko. Their D is reasonably priced but no real superstars there. A re-tool would not work for them as they don't have a solid core to build around like we do. Blowing it up won't be easy either as they need to get rid of even worse anchors than we have.
