  1. Planning to go to this one. Seeing that Dems will probably be in net. 3-2 Vegas
  2. Great movie choice for a meme. seems to fit your narrative
  3. Nope. Still not eliminated. Math too tough for you? please don’t speak for “most fans”. You have no clue
  4. Or right into his chest. Next expansion team with a target as a crest will have a vezina winning goalie
  5. https://thehockeynews.com/news/marathon-men-chabots-monster-outing-one-for-the-ages-but-where-does-it-rank-all-time
  6. I think Tocchet addressed Quinn's ice time in one of his interviews where he said that he wanted to manage his TOI better, but that Quinn wanted to get back on the ice after a short rest. Its how that kid is built. Yes, I agree that he is the coach and he should be more assertive in that. Its been a tough year for Demko. Now that he is fully healthy, I have no doubt that he wants to play as much as possible as an affirmation that he has his game back.
  7. I'm not really concerned whether they win or lose down the stretch. Its more about whether they are playing the right way and the process. The garbage that we saw at the beginning of the year was tough to watch. Games like we had against the Kings yesterday tells me that we still have some work to do. Mgmt has only been in place for a little over a year. Gotta give them a chance even if it doesn't align with what we think they should do.
  8. the "meaningless push" you are referring to isn't just for the players to feel good about themselves. Its to get the players to play with the system they are trying to put in place and that doesn't happen overnight. They are implementing a similar system in Abbotsford. trying to put a new system in place during the start of training camp would be too late IMHO.
  9. Nope. I don't mind hearing other opinions on how this team should be run but when the same stuff gets posted ad nauseum every GDT and PGT even though valid points are made in rebuttal, what else are we going to say?
  10. I see the gist of what you are saying but bottoming out is no guarantee of success. If the lottery did not exist then I'd be more inclined to agree but really there is too much risk into purposely bottoming out and thinking that it would work Boston won the cup in 2011. Since then they've remained pretty competitive and have been cup contenders for quite a few years now. Yet how many top 10 picks have they had? let alone top 5? In 2015, they had the top13,14,15th picks and yet only one is playing regular minutes as a bottom 6 fwd. We've already built our core with the draft. Just because Petey, Huggy, and Dems weren't lottery picks doesn't mean we they aren't a solid core to go forward with. I'd love to get a generational player. If only for the entertainment value of watching him for the next few years. But a cup winning or contending team doesn't necessarily need one. I'd rather have a balanced team that is strong in all aspects of the game. You think that Tampa would have won their cups if they didn't have Vasilevsky? Edmonton is finally favored to come out of the west after how many years and how many top 3 picks? Yet I still wouldn't consider them a true cup contender because of their goaltending and average defense. Not saying that draft picks aren't important. They are. but you don't need necessarily need to bottom out. Lastly, most of us posting here are passionate fans that would give their first born if the canucks could somehow hoist the cup. (figuratively speaking). But the majority of the fans, the ones that pay money to go to the games, buy the merchandise etc.. want to be entertained. While the casual fans would love for us to win the cup, they don't necessarily have that same thinking of being bad for many years just to build a cup winning team. Management is running a business for an owner who wants to make money (nothing wrong with that). Making the playoffs not only gives them more revenue, but allows them to justify raising ticket prices, allows them to maintain a season ticket base. Of course winning a cup also helps with that but multiple years of being at the bottom may severely affect them as a business.
  11. The Kings really impressed me tonight. Our top line was virtually invisible for the first two periods. Would like to see Gavrikov here though.
  12. Nope. Just an observation. Doesn't bother me at all. Enjoying the wins and not overly upset if they lose. Just concerned for a so called fan who seems to be quite stressed about our team getting 2 points on the night. A nice glass of Bourdeaux helps I heard.
  13. Well, there are 31 other teams to cheer for. BTW, people here shouldn't be made to feel bad if they enjoyed a win. Your posts reeks of arrogance. Like you know better than most of us here. Yeah, I can do the math. Yeah I know where we are in the standings. So what. I like watching our team do well. Its been stated thousands of times why players don't tank and yet you continue to come on here after every bloody win and start spewing the same s$%t over and over again. This is PGT where we should be discussing the actual game itself. You want to whine? Go start a "In Drance we trust thread".
  14. The 40 shots was a bit misleading as a lot of them were not dangerous ones. But I do have to admit that we were dominated territorially. Almost seemed that we were skating in quicksand for the whole game except for the OT where we outplayed them. Games like these show that we still have some work to do.
  15. Yes, if I were a team that had cap room and needed a big body for a 3rd pairing RHD that won't cost me more than a million in real dollars.
  16. I don't think we have much choice in having to trade Myers unless we can clear cap another way. Big RD's with Cap for one year but low real dollars do have some value. We may get a pick out of it too without having to retain (but could if its minimal). What I don't want is to sign an aging FA RD for term and $$. The way I see it, we will be looking a 3 from the crop of Schenn, Bear, Livingston, Burroughs, Juulsen at least for next year. On the left side, we have Quinn. I think Wolanin has earned a spot on the 3rd pair. OEL will be difficult to Buy out (only used as a last resort) so mgmt will probably want to see if we can get him back to a serviceable D.
  17. I think Beau may prefer a shorter 2 year term knowing that we can't afford to pay him the big bucks now. Gives him time to really pad his stats with Petey for the big pay day come his next contract. assuming he doesnt get traded.
  18. We basically started this season with the same team as last season's end (with a few FA additions). Same defense and lack of defensive structure. Difference was the goaltending. It showed on the PK as its often said that your best penalty killer is your goaltender. Demko had minor surgery in the off season. Could this have contributed to his slow start? If not physically, mentally? takes time for a goaltender that relies on flexibility and reflexes to get over the mental aspect and play back to form. Once he got injured, it was AHL goaltending for most of the season. Huge difference in what a bubble Demko brings and what a struggling Back up brings. You could see it when Demko came back. Swallowed up the rebounds, making saves look easy etc.. A number 1 goaltender should be good at reading the tendencies of most of the opposing players. Silovs brings some of that as well but he is still young and developing. We are lucky that we have a true top 5 goaltender. The same cannot be said for a lot of the teams currently holding playoff spots.
  19. I wouldn't be surprised if there are going to be a lot more changes in the off season. This management group is slowly changing the team to match their vision. New coach and keeping and acquiring new players that will play Tocchet's system. I'm glad our core is doing that so no need to touch it. This management has only been here for a little over a year and they've made quite a few changes already. Most of them positive. Still need to clear some cap. I'm waiting till after the Free agent period to provide a better assessment of this mgmt. team.
  20. Depends on what we could get for him. If you offer one of our extra 3rd rounders and Beau for one of St Louis's 1st would you say no?
  21. we weren't that bad despite the loss. PP needs to shoot more. Arizona is not a bad team at home as their record in the last little while shows.
  22. Pettersson Highlights to get ready for the game. Out of all the youtube videos out there, this one ranks as one of the best in my opinion.
  23. Don’t know. But like the video says, imagine the reaction if we did get the first and picked him
  24. speculation was that EP or Makar was ahead of Patrick/Hischier on the Canuck's list.
