  1. Looking back at our draft history... our drafting/development was awful!

@bigbadcanucks It's not that it's news to me. I'm just reflecting on how godawful it has been leading up to the present. And yes, Gillis cannot be forgiven for how he unintentionally drained our prospect pool.

@Dazzle Agree with you that MG was an epic failure with building a pipeline of prospects...but he did bring in the complementary pieces that made the Canucks a cup contender for a few seasons.  Team was talented and nasty during most of MG's watch...ended badly with mismanagement of the goalie situation.  Too bad that's what MG is going to be most remembered for, especially when he did some good things.

All in all, I liked what MG did during his time...I sat next to him on flight from YYZ to YVR way back when.  Had an interesting conversation with him...he was engaging and not the prickly dude he was with the Vancouver press.  Then I ran into him on the Tsawassen to Swartz Bay ferry right after he was fired...and to my surprise, he remembered me.  So maybe I'm a little biased because of personal interaction (albeit short ones) I've had with him.

Also admired MG for being one of the lead guys in taking down Alan Eagleson, who was probably one of the most powerful men in hockey when MG, Carl Brewer, Bobby Orr, et. al. went after him and and sent him to jail.
