  1. The toxic media is gonna say "Pettersson & Canucks far apart in contract talks"

@Gnarcore - please do tell, what qualifies JP Barry as one of the biggest POS in the game?  He represented the Sedin brothers and has done right by his clients and been straight up with GMs.  Are you bitter that he was negotiating with the Leafs on behalf of the Sedins before they signed with the Canucks when they were UFAs? Or that he negotiated the 6x6 deal for Loui?  Or the 10x1 he negotiated for Sundin?

He's just a POS in how he works imo. His releases to the media and methods of playing teams against each other while almost always pushing for max contracts. Exactly want you want in an agent as a player :)

If Petey is after 10m (who knows...you know how rumours are..)  there goes any chance of building a winner. Frankly I'd trade him rather than sign him at that price.

@Gnarcore-I haven't heard the $10M "demand".  I've heard the possibility of teams offer sheeting at $10M, which JP Barry pretty much shot down - "talks haven't happened, and if it happens, it will be later in the RFA signing process" is what I've heard from him.  I've heard talk about understanding the Canucks cap situation (that he termed as "issues") and because of it he thinks short term deals are what appears to be viable for Petey and Hughes.

The fear mongering about offer sheets is coming from Dhaliwal who is simply parroting what media types in Philly and NY and MTL have been popping out like pez candy.

My prediction, based on what I've read and seen and heard (source: local media, who I abhor), is that Petey signs a 3 year $7.5M AAV, backloaded so that his Q-offer in three years comes in at $10M.

I guess we have a different take on JP Barry's media availability. I like it that he speaks publicly to dispel garbage rumours and sets the record straight as much as he can without disclosing his strategic tactics for his clients.  Sames goes for Kevin Epp and Kurt Overhardt.  Another solid agent is Craig Oster (who I grew up with and played in the same minor hockey association as a kid in Winnipeg, and who is Keith Tkachuk's brother-in-law/uncle to Brady and Matthew).  The guy who bold-face lies on his media-speak is Todd Diamond.
