  1. Not at all. We actually have acknowledged he has made mistakes, although you must realize that we are able to see the positive sides as well. The anti-Benning crowd is only ever capable of seeing the negative. And as you can see, the same ppl are still criticizing Benning. So no, if anything, you've given me the opportunity to clarify just how politically motivated they are. Totally irrational I wouldn't be surprised if some of them start reacting positively to you with emotes, as if you spoke their language lol.
  2. Some ppl on Twitter criticizing Benning for trying to make the playoffs...

How dare Benning make the team better?????????

its almost like a religion. 2000 years from now there will be epic tales of Saint Gillis and the ogre known as Benning.

I’ve said it before the haters pretend to be fans make us look as stupid as they are so they could further slag our fan base.

  3. Ugh... here's this Gillis love fest, involving the downplaying of his flaws. His drafting was more than just horrible. He wrecked the pool. Nonis' drafting was horrible, but at least he didn't screw the pooch as much as Gillis did. AT minimum, he hit SOME picks. Gillis had no goaltending prospects at all, at any round. That is unacceptable. The only goaltenders he had control over were inherited - Luongo and Schneider. He messed up that handling too, leaving Vancouver with an aging Luongo. Yes, he got Horvat out of it. What about Luongo's replacement? No defensive prospects. Gillis couldn't find one useful defenceman besides Hutton during his 6 years of GMing? He only hit on first rounds - Hodgson and Horvat. And then look at his absolute misses during the Horvat year... Gillis sucked at a critical part of his job, maintenance of the team, including its futures. 2014 and 2016 were Benning's arguably worst years for drafting. It seemed like every year was a bad year for Gillis... Here's the rest of GIllis' drafting years.... the excuses you make for his drafting is so hilarious. "HE WAS TRYING TO WINNN!!!" - and yet absolutely flopped on every single round between his first and last years.
  4. Seattle needs to employ the trap system I am really confident that Vancouver will outscore them.
  5. Also, not that I'm complaining because it's not my decision, nor my loss/gain, why did Brady Keeper get a one way contract? Am I missing something?
  6. Totally curious, why would they displace Silovs elsewhere? ECHL is not gonna help his development. Also, this is a pretty minor question that is unrelated to your thread: why did Brady Keeper get a one-way contract? He seems very unproven, and not really someone of his calibre (no offense) would get until later on. Maybe this was a 'nice thing to do'? I don't get it.
  7. So anyway, Seattle's team is far from money puck now. They just splashed a bit during FA: https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2021/07/28/kraken-make-big-free-agent-goalie-splash-with-grubauer-wennberg/ You know the problem with the Kraken is that they were so focussed on making moves so that the other team didn't benefit during expansion. We saw this with: Carey Price, MTL; Holtby, VAN. I seriously think they were overthinking this whole process and should've taken what Seattle would benefit from the most. But I guess we should be thankful that Seattle didn't take Carey Price. I'm not saying Grubauer isn't good, but their signings weren't any more or less of a "moneyball". Wennberg is not a bad signing, but I don't think he'll put Seattle "over the top". And Schwartz, the article talks about how he's in decline, so it's a bit of a gamble there. Also not a fan of their strategy of collecting mid-round draft picks. They are not Arizona, so what is a 4th round pick in 2023 gonna do for you? Did anyone really think FA was going to save Seattle?
  8. Where did you read that his straight line is very fast? I think he's kind of lacking the extra gear. I think if he gets Horvat's coach or something, his game is easily gonna go into the stratosphere.
  9. Oh, the video that I showed you, the guy says he has below average speed. I think it's pretty correctable, but I'm not an expert. I don't think it's that big of an issue because Benning likes his other traits.
  10. Yeah, after seeing this one game, he's a very promising prospect.
  11. Some comments from here: https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/canucks-hockey/canucks-take-a-big-swing-on-danila-klimovich-at-41st-overall-in-2nd-round-of-the-draft-3982772 Klimovich is a 6’1” forward with a right-hand shot, who is listed at centre but has also played on the wing. He was supposed to play last season in the QMJHL, but chose to stay in Belarus because of the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s some serious upside in Klimovich, who spent the bulk of the season piling up points in the Vysshaya Liga, Belarus’s second-tier professional league. He had 28 goals and 52 points in 37 games with Minskie Zubry in the Vysshaya, then 9 goals and 14 points in 12 playoff games. At the same time, it’s hard to know what to make of that production in a league not known for producing NHL players. But then he went to the World Under-18 Championship with Belarus and dominated. There's quite a lot written about him here, so you can visit the page. Having look at this video here: This is what I think: - While obviously not NHL ready just yet, he has a lot of potential because of his smarts. He's shown to be very opportunistic because he'll attack defenders when they're out of position or off-balance. That's when he'll pounce/drive to the net. That is the type of game he plays. Very uptempo. - His skating needs some work, but if he gets some superior skating lessons, watch out. - Has some snarl. Finishes his checks with punishing hits. - Defensively, he's pretty aware of his surroundings. He doesn't cheat for offense. Video talked about his shot/stickhandling being above average - and I agree. Obviously it could use more improvement, but he's got a lot to work with. I only saw about 10 mins of that 22 min clip to make the above observations. However, since Benning watched all his games, I think he was seriously impressed not to trade down, but to get this guy outright. Edit: I decided to watch more of the clip, and the guy demonstrates a lot of drive. It's Podkolzin-esque. I can totally see why Benning liked this part of his game. I doubt he'll make the NHL outright, but I think we'll see this guy sooner rather than later. There's a lot to like about this guy. I think the Canucks shouldn't rush him though. If his skating gets an improvement, he's gonna be very very dangerous.
  12. This guy ranked him 53 overall. Skating is apparently below average, but shooting/stickhandling above average.
  13. FWIW, Scouching had him in the 70s, so quite a bit lower in rankings as when Klimovich was picked. I think a lot of it was the lack of intel surrounding this guy in general. However, Benning had personally scouted this guy in Texas at the U18 tournament, and his scouts likely saw the other games in Europe. Just a guess. It's quite uncharacteristic for him to feel so excited about a prospect.
  14. Pretty cheap deal. No one can say this is a bad signing at all.
  15. Your posts remind me of this guy. @canuktravella
  16. So do you have a fetish for nitpicking details without trying to understand the overall context?
  17. Seems like you had to hunt for this thread and missed the other threads above. Oh and you know, the OEL/Garland trade?
  18. Love the praise, although I hope the Canucks properly raise this player so he doesn't get rushed.
  19. Considering you've probably spent all your time arguing in one thread and ignored the other threads, it's safe to say that you don't have any intention of talking about Canucks hockey. You're more interested in criticizing certain deals lol.
  20. Lmfao. You do realize what his contract with be right? 5 mill bud.
  21. The media bias is really obvious.

Not much of a peep about Vancouver, but Toronto's minor signings get attention. LOL.

It's honestly worth it just to see their collective meltdown every time the Leafs lose a playoff series.
