  1. I think Jimbo's gonna keep the pick. He chose Podkolzin last time and he had no guarantee he was going to be kept.
  2. The only excuse that I see is not seeing you eat a hat. You were the one who set the conditions. You had your own bias.
  3. I heard rumours that <Boeser> was getting traded --------------------- Databank of players to throw out in speculation Boeser [X] Virtanen Holtby Pettersson Hughes
  4. So this is an interesting consideration that someone else brought up on Twitter... Flyers trade Shayne Gostisbehere, two draft picks in 2022 to Arizona The Philadelphia Flyers announced have traded defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere, a second round pick in 2022 and a seventh round pick in the 2022 NHL Draft now Flyers cough up two more draft picks.
  5. I don't think Lehner got fined either for speaking his mind. For the record, I agree 100 percent with what he said, but he was far more critical about the league in his statement than other incidents in which fines would be handed out.
  6. I misunderstood what you said earlier. But this message is quite a good move for him. Hopefully he can learn from this mistake and move on in life.
  7. It's not that he didn't want to get drafted, haha. However, the consequence of him not getting drafted because of this is very high. Poor decision that impacts his future.
  8. Yeah, it's weird. We have this fetish of throwing rocks at glass houses.
  9. Actually, I came across this post and I had a feeling it was going to be a poor take. I wasn't disappointed. You state the most obvious thing, as if something was not considered already.
  10. Wow, you must be really smart. Why don't the Canucks hire you for your big brains?
  11. Looking through his twitter, most if not all the Canucks are gone from his followers list. That being said, Brock still follows Virt on twitter, but not on IG (I think no one follows Virt there). In fact, I don't think anyone on the team follows AG either. Something really went down during the trade, possibly the covid thing. There's still several legit Twitter accounts following Jake, including TSN/Sportsnet reporters, and Tara Slone (CBC). Just an observation.
  12. He set the conditions, he was proven wrong, and @Fred65is nowhere to be found.
  13. That's not the definition of a gamble if you're taking steps to ensure security. I think signing a veteran goalie was a necessity, in case that Demko was a one-off success story. Also, it wouldn't have been good to overwhelm him with starter duties, in case he needed more development time. Clearly signing Holtby done out of an abundance of caution. Arguably, he was signed for too much. Yet the philosophy of insulating Demko was not wrong.
  14. Mallet wasn't even ranked during this part of the round. It was such a reach that it was going to fail regardless of what happened. He was never going to live up to the expectations of a DEEP 2nd round that year. Just absolutely poor valuation skills.
  15. Horrible, just horrible memories. I KNEW that pick was going to be bad, but hoped otherwise.
  16. It should be noted that Lindy Ruff was not in the fold anymore when he came back...
  17. https://nhl.nbcsports.com/2016/09/19/drama-in-dallas-as-nichushkin-reportedly-close-to-khl-deal/ PRO HOCKEY TALK | NBC SPORTS Select Team Subscribe: Drama in Dallas as Nichushkin reportedly close to KHL deal (Updated) By Mike HalfordSep 19, 2016, 6:46 PM EDT Getty Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Flipboard (Opens in new window) Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Click to email this to a friend (Opens in new window) 11 Comments Latest update: The pendulum swings back in favor of Valeri Nichushkin signing with CSKA Moscow of the KHL, according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman. Nothing is official yet, however. *** The Valeri Nichushkin saga in Dallas could be over soon — and not with the ending the Stars or GM Jim Nill hoped for. Nichushkin, a still-unsigned RFA, had his KHL rights acquired by league powerhouse CSKA Moscow on Monday, per Sport-Express. Not long after that news broke, various reports (including the original from R-Sport) claimed that Nichuskin was working on a two-year pact with CSKA. The contract term is interesting, in light of this: The rift between Ruff and Nichushkin is well-documented. Nichushkin, the 10th overall pick in 2013, showed well as a rookie, scoring 14 goals and 34 points in 79 games, but his sophomore campaign was a nightmare — he missed nearly the entire season with a hip injury and subsequent surgery, and only appeared in eight contests. Last year, he struggled. And Ruff wasn’t exactly all warm and cuddly about it. In fact, the veteran bench boss sent a message right at the start of the season, making Nichushkin a healthy scratch while adding the 21-year-old needed to “get his head in the right place.” In late March, an interview with with Russian news outlet Sport-Express made waves, as Nichuskin said he didn’t feel Ruff trusted him, or played him enough. Not long after, Nichuskin’s agent tried to clear the air. “Val loves it in Dallas,” Mark Gandler told the Morning News. “He’s very happy there.” Maybe not that happy. Update: Gandler denied a deal with CSKA has been reached, per Sportsnet, but didn’t rule out his client going to the KHL. FWIW agent says "nothing is done and all options remain open" https://t.co/nEJ4GLdAOI — Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) September 19, 2016
  18. I like it a lot. Maybe 1 or 2 years at 2.5 mill (maximum 3 mill).
  19. I think Seattle's overdoing it with the analytics side of things, but we'll see how good they'll be next year. I personally think they will underwhelm mightily, which they'll defend as a plan for the future
  20. Uh no. Nichushkin has already bolted to Russia once, thus reflecting a character issue. Benning was very very careful about Podkolzin. Giving up a 2nd for Nichushin is a big mistake. Draft a Russian if you have to instead.
  21. I think if the Kraken fail to make a good team, we should see less emphasis of analytics being at the forefront of team building. New Jersey tried to do it. Coyotes tried to do it. Seattle looks extremely underwhelming right now, and these are just their 'first' picks. I.e. the ones they deemed to be the best, given their choices on the players. Why Gavin Bayruether? Such a terrible pick.
  22. Finally, something we can agree on wallstreetamigo once again. I wonder if your media friends are praising the Seattle moves as being good though...
  23. Alex goligoski would've been an intriguing pick. https://www.fiveforhowling.com/2021/7/18/22582428/arizona-coyotes-available-and-protected-lists-have-been-released-seattle-kraken A bit older though. Nvm also a UFA.
