So, I'm totally shooting in the dark on this one, I guess Dickinson's going to take 18? -

You have no clue about this player, period. So much for you 'watching' this player. Laughable. I feel I have a better grasp on the player than you do. -

We know what you are too. Seriously, this post is straight up trash. He's a proven NHL player that fits a need on the team - all for the price of a 3rd round pick. What are you talking about with regards to killing people? If you watched him, you'd know exactly what his role is. He kills penalties. Stupid post by you, Convincing John. Bottom of the barrel tier. -

Yeah, I also feel like Graovac had some severely underrated hands, especially toward the tail end of last year. He could've been a cheap fourth line option. -

Lou's got a long, established tenure, but I think his accomplishments tend to be overstated. He didn't really help New Jersey all that much. In fact, the Schneider trade, which was at first glance a robbery, ended up being kind of a nightmare for them. Now he's on NYI, which he did well, but he's still bleeding assets. -

They likely won't have much to say. There's very little evidence from what's been discussed so far - as expected. This happened three years ago, and any physical evidence, aside from text messages, will probably be long gone. I think many of us will predict this will go the civil route, in which case Virtanen can either pay a settlement for her suit to go away, or he could sue her back for defamation/damages. Either way, we'll probably never hear about the details again. If the victim talks about her case in any way, it could blow her case. -

Yeah, I found the link just before you posted it But yeah, I had no idea until you brought up the background of this. I don't know if this played a factor into Eriksson's performance decline. But it shouldn't have. He should've been a professional about it. -

I had absolutely no idea of this behind the scenes. Yikes. I'm not sure if the situation factors into why he has been playing bad. Maybe that would be giving him a convenient excuse. But yeah, that's brutal. Any reason why the COO got arrested? Edit: Never mind, here's the link. It's absolutely brutal. This is what happens when people who have too much money on their hands. They want to try and make more money with it, but end up losing money. https://www.saltwire.com/halifax/sports/hockey/the-skate-jake-train-is-at-the-station-479198/ Sometimes it’s about more than just playing There are a lot of reasons why players keep playing. Mostly it’s about how much fun they’re having. But it can also be about their bigger financial picture. I’m pretty amazed this flew under the radar like it did: Loui Eriksson’s restaurant chain lost a ton of money in 2018 and while it did do better in 2019, he was still in the red. One of the first things Eriksson did after signing his big contract in 2016 was to become the lead investor in the five-location chain. But the restaurants almost immediately ran into trouble: the former owner was arrested on sexual assault charges against underage girls. The authorities rescinded the restaurants’ liquor licences, leading to a year-over-year decline in revenue of more than $8 million. Revenues rebounded slightly in the latest reporting period — up to August 2019 — but that 2017-18 loss surely stings. -
Totally agree. There's also a thing worth mentioning whenever someone compares Sakic with Benning. Sakic had the luxury of high first round picks, including players LIKE Landeskog in their system. Benning's predecessor barely left anything behind, and the only thing really of value in terms of prospect was obtained only from trading a drafted player that had nothing to do with his tenure. (Cory Schneider, which in itself was a mishandle). Benning dug himself some holes, but make no mistake, he inherited a mess of a prospect pool. NO replacements for the players that were on their last hurrah, like the Sedins. I don't know how people can continually ignore this reality. Simply remembering the 'good old days' (i.e. 2011 run) is just a false memory. It came at a BIG price. Also, Sakic made his share of mistakes too, early on, which led some of us to think that former players aren't necessarily the best candidates for GM jobs. Seems like some people have since forgotten that :p

Islanders are by far the biggest losers in this expansion draft, as you highlighted. They had to pony up to get rid of Andrew Ladd's 5.5 million dollar contract, by sacrificing a second round pick for this year, 2022, AND a 3rd round pick for 2023. For nothing. Let that sink in. On top of this, they potentially lose Bailey, who as you said was tremendous this playoffs, but so was Eberle. I dunno if there's anything else. -

Ah, that makes sense. I forgot about him being a UFA. So he did Washington a huge favour there. -

I don't get why Washington would leave Alex Ovechkin exposed. Any explanations on that? -

They'll just ignore this and the Schmidt trade, and regurgitate their bias. -

Wow, riveting reporting there! -
He reportedly sent his GM resume to Pittsburgh, but he didn't apparently make it on their final candidates. For all the things he did right in Vancouver, he sure didn't leave a lasting relationship in the NHL, so much so that teams were actually afraid to hire him. Anyway, the usual suspects like @AV. and @kanucks25 are blind Gillis homers who worship everything that he has done, to the extent of ignoring his flaws. No one here is 'bitter' about Gillis. Get real.

Jeff Ulmer was previously the Arizona Coyotes' skills coach, according to Wiki. Interesting.

[Signing] Panthers re-sign Gustav Forsling

If Gillis had drafted some more players to, I dunno, replace Edler, maybe a GM wouldn't have to retool on the fly. Gillis' poor drafting and development is a big factor that you always fail to address. -

What defenseman did your boy Gillis draft again to either put into the roster or trade for assets? Hmm? -
Is he really that good defensively? Horvat's pretty committed defensively.
