  1. 2019 draft pick in the 6th round. Benning and his European scouts have hit it out of the park again. Thought to have high hockey IQ and good skating. Czech player who represented his country, and even was voted MVP in one game of a tournament.
  2. From what I've read, the Canucks especially like his high IQ and skating. 2019 draft pick in the 6th round. We NEED talented players like these. 2019 is showing a ton of promise. "Keppen is the only player chosen by the Canucks in 2019 without a contract. The Canucks would have needed to sign the 122nd overall pick by June 1 to retain his playing rights." https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-ethan-keppen-set-free-big-plans-for-viktor-persson-and-karel-plasek
  3. I generally like your posts, but I think this is not a very useful one. As many of the posters have raised, the series loss of the Leafs have exposed the bias of posters on here, particularly those who are blindly critical of Benning. By blindly, I am referring to people who criticize without actually listening to the others' counterpoints. Some posters claim to be objective, but it's funny. Those people have shown so far to be pretty biased. They don't realize it, or they don't want to acknowledge it.
  4. You said that they have a decent core, even though you basically acknowledge that they've been largely rolling their tires in the mud. They are a mediocre team, overall, when taking into account playoff successes. Also, if their core was so 'decent', why have they perennially failed to make a splash in the playoffs, DESPITE having BETTER players than what Vancouver has? Meanwhile, you put so much emphasis on our wasteful bottom 6 players, who happen to outproduce their highest paid players (Matthew and Marner). From what I understand from the other posters, they are pointing out your bias, specifically the one where you think Vancouver is poor, by comparing the so-called successes with the Leafs. And I feel they are right to point that out. No one here has been talking about the bottom teams like Sabres, so I don't know why you brought them up.
  5. This is so well said. The only difference between the perception of the success is the media's role. Shanahan's plan is objectively no better than Benning's. Saying that Toronto has a 'decent core' is setting a pretty low bar, considering they have freaking Matthews in their lineup.
  6. The results don't really support your praise for Toronto. The Canucks got through one more round with our 'overpaid' bottom 6, despite Toronto having the 'superior' roster. I know it's not an exact comparison. The whole point I wanted to make is that Toronto is not really a model to follow.
  7. Well I would hope so, after so many years... You fail to consider the the Leafs have had Matthews and Marner, which technically should have made the Leafs competition easier. Have we actually won a lottery? Aside from the Sedins, our draft picks have been largely lower than Toronto. What gives? Does it mean we were more successful than Toronto? Yet they do not truly demonstrate success In the form of cups. You know what's funny is that we can cherrypick like you're doing to support what you want to see, but the reality is that Toronto as a whole has almost always been disappointers, regardless of their rosters. If Benning were in the same position, doing the same moves as Dubas, would you really give Benning the same credit? I'm thinking no.
  8. I do find it hilarious that certain posters are just making hilarious excuses. Their "philosophy" is spot on, huh? Have two players making 10M+ and they only have 1 goal between the two of them? Riiiiiiiiiight. Their team isn't any better built than Vancouver's. They had a good season, that's for sure. But they also didn't have COVID running through our team. They also didn't have a poor practice schedule. My point with this is that their 'success' for their rebuild has been vastly overstated.
  9. You're missing a major point in this post. Much of the media has smugly pointed out that Vancouver's rebuild/retool plan has failed, while Toronto's team (and the darling of Canada) is the example of a well-built team. Obviously not. The reality is somewhere in the middle. Once you make the playoffs, some teams just do better. There isn't a 'right' answer otherwise teams would've utilized it already. SO no, Toronto isn't any better than Vancouver or any other team. They just blew a 3-1 series lead, which actually happens quite a bit. Price was playing like a god. If Montreal lost, it would've been like Vancouver and Demko. At this point, being first in the division is meaningless. If Vancouver had to suck, these two years would have been better years because of the lack of revenue. Once COVID is mostly dealt with, I see Vancouver surging.
  10. Why not just expose him in the expansion draft than to trade assets to get rid of him? This source is crap.
  11. What a joke. Wilson gets nothing. And this only gets 2 games.
  12. I heard from people that this is totally different. Dop won't be involved. It'll go right to Bettman.
  13. Yes, you're right that Juolevi has been injured a lot, and hasn't been able to fully display that he's a 6th overall pick. Nonetheless, he IS an asset and you shouldn't throw him away. Then when you take into account that we're getting another high pick, that will be two years worth of high first round picks that will disappear - just gone - for a guy that may or may not mesh in the locker room. I just think it's super risky. Madden was realistically never going to have a role on our team. He's an asset, but not irreplaceable. (former 3rd round pick). Sure, we shouldn't throw players like him away, especially if you land a Lockwood or Gaudette (still a good pick, despite what happened). Seth Jones probably would do well performance wise. I am just worried that he won't stay. We cannot have a repeat of lost draft picks at this point.
  14. I don't want us spending on bottom 6 players anymore. Just get the most cost effective players for the bottom 6, and have them play shut down roles if they have to. Save the money entirely for defense. We struggled A LOT in that area.
  15. My concern isn't about his skill or talent. My concern is his 'fit' on the team, and whether that poor fit will mean that he will walk. That will mean that we essentially gave up TWO first round picks (Juolevi is a high 1st rounder) for what would be a rental. That is really poor asset management. It's why we were in this hell hole of a prospect pool left behind by Gillis. People were crying about the Toffoli/Madden trade. The Jones trade is REALLY too risky. You guys are insane for wanting this deal through. Furthermore, there isn't really a guarantee that he'll perform well, or if he suffers an injury. In that case, the trade will be even worse.
  16. Uh huh. And Baertschi? No disrespect to former players of our coach. But our coaches have had their fair share of players they've worked with. This is not a high school clique. I want to see results, much like how other people here want. I would like to see Green try new things than to play 'favourites' We know how the Pouliot experiment went... Giving up a 1st and a prospect is asisine for a player we don't know will re-sign. And people complain about Benning trading away draft picks. Ridiculous.
  17. It's not so much that you criticize Benning. It's more how you deliberately ignore evidence that counters your 'points', and then you re-hash the same thing as where you started. I honestly have zero problems with this post. Everyone is allowed to criticize/compliment whoever they want. The problem is when you start to see the bias slip in. Too many times have I seen your posts be consistently anti-Benning. Do you not have a different dimension to how you observe things? Lmfao at your post the other day about Podkolzin. You say you're happy about the prospect, but then you HAD to include a shot of Benning in it. LOL. That is a blatant example of bias.
  18. Miller doesn't go around pushing his views in the social media landscape, in the same way that Jones is doing. I think even if he was a Trump supporter, which is fine, you don't have to be obnoxious about it. Our players, regardless of where they stand politically, are NOT obnoxious. That's the point. If Jones wants to freely express his opinions, go for it. He would not fit in well with our team that had been plagued with COVID. FFS.
  19. Easily indoctrinated... acting on emotions rather than reason. Fits the bill perfectly.
  20. In other words, people are ignoring the evidence in front of them, in pursuit of their own narrative. Seth Jones may be a talented player, but he is dumb if he still thinks that COVID is a lie. Even if there's talk about the covid thing being exaggerated (which it's not), over 500,000 people have died to COVID in his own country, there are still tons of people alive who are on ventilators. Then there's people around the world who have been decimated by COVID. Obviously if they want to keep telling themselves it's a lie, that is a problem. Jones being ignorant makes him unwelcome on this team.
  21. Kind of like those guys who stormed the Capitol Building right, who happen to be staunch Trump supporters? Yep, the vote was stolen /sarc
  22. People are insane if they're wishing us to trade valuable assets for this guy. It's almost like they want the Canucks to be decimated by this trade, all for the sake of getting a 'high end' FA. Hard no for Seth Jones. If you're still tweeting about covid being fake or exaggerated in this day and age, you are a piece of $&!#. Canucks have no space for this tosser. DeAngelo and Jones would work well.
  23. Wait a second. You believe the media, but when the source says it's not true, you believe the media? Guess you think Hughes really was on IV, even though Hughes flatly denied it.
