  1. I think Montreal was actually NERVOUS about Calgary and Vancouver catching up on them. I don't think they were at all the confident fanbase that you might think they'll be with their stacked roster (on paper). And i think the confidence has just been up and down for them. Vancouver is, therefore, not alone in having fans that are not overly fond about their team as a whole.
  2. I think Benning might try something like trading down, getting a roster player of some kind, and getting another pick in return.
  3. This is very true. I think the whole idea of 'rebuilding' wasn't really a popular idea among fans. Yet revisionist history would tell you that Benning "should've" done it. When Benning assumed this job, he was handcuffed with a whole lot of poor assets, though the memories of the cup loss was still relatively fresh among fans. Was there really an appetite to sell off fan favourite assets? I don't think so. When Benning made a promise about a 'quick rebuild'/retool, he underestimated how poorly he'd do it. And it's not entirely his fault. He was given a crap sandwich, no matter what Gillis sympathizers think. There was nothing in the cupboards, and a clear declined core. If there's ever any argument to this, Edler is STILL around because Gillis was unable to develop a single defenseman from his time period. But Benning is responsible for making promises he couldn't keep. Now he's shoe-horned himself into this situation. He absolutely has to guarantee a playoff entrance (which probably isn't that hard to to do). I don't know if Benning can do it with Green, but if the players support him, then maybe it's possible.
  4. I don't disagree at all with anything you said. Hopefully Eriksson just retires after taking the bonus money. I'd be embarrassed if I were in his position and I stayed any longer than that.
  5. We're also the only Canadian city that I know of that riots their own city.
  6. I usually don't want to reference Reddit because they can be an echo chamber as well, but this is a reflection of what some people thought of the very low turnout. Someone said it was less than 20 people. I'm not even sure Squamfan bothered to show up, though I do remember him trying to drum up the support here.
  7. People will often overlook facts that are inconvenient to the position that they want to hold. Case in point: The election has been rigged!!!!!1 Because trump wasn't voted in! The vote was stolen!!! Despite the fact that there's NO EVIDENCE of it. Instead, you have people with confirmation bias that are looking to 'prove' the fraud, which doesn't exist. And more accurately, the widespread fraud that doesn't exist. Funny how when the actual fraud that took place, namely people who voted for Trump on their behalf (one of these people was dead), that the people crying election fraud stay silent.
  8. I think arguably, it was too late. These habits are years in the making.
  9. Woo is not tiny. He's a very physical defenseman.
  10. Yeah, the win/loss record is not particularly flattering for Green, and was one of the major reasons why I thought he should've been replaced. If WD wasn't good enough, and he had a far more inferior roster, why would Green be? That being said, his players love playing for him, clearly. If they wanted him gone, he would've been. His contract was up, so Benning (or whoever) could've looked for someone else. Yet the re-signing demonstrates that FA is giving everyone a new leaf for two years. He knows he's gonna get bashed for it, but nobody wants to see anyone fired. The players don't hate Benning nor Green.
  11. Lmfao, Montreal used a coach's challenge for a goal that was blatantly legal.

coach must know the ref ;)

  12. On the offensive side, there are too many passes made. You need shots on net to get rebounds, and too much of it was setting up the 'perfect' play. Actually the defensive side too. The outlets are incredibly inefficient. They need to fix everything.
  13. Fake news is in fact a real thing. The US had misreported on a lot of stuff, with or without Trump.
  14. Isn't that always the case? Even in hindsight, Beagle isn't a bad player, and he's a known entity. It just sucks that offense is such a black hole for the fourth line.
  15. I thought it's rather ironic that he claims not to "have time for failure", like he's some bustling professional living a fast life - and then he cheers for the Canucks? Or at least he's pretending that he does? Then people like to pull out the "I've been a supporter for 40 years, now i'm stopping" card. LOL. If this was what got you to stop watching, which I highly doubt because there are definitively worse periods than this, then I don't know if that person should be a Canucks fan at all. Go cheer for the Lightning or Pittsburgh. We can see the same people complaining about this team, yet not give credit where it's due, nor do they have the ability to reflect on previous opinions.
  16. Eriksson does provide some relief, but there is dead cap space. I forget how much, but it might be worth it if it's spread out over time.
  17. You make some valid points, but I have to laugh at the bolded here. Not sure why you are cheering for the Canucks then, based on what you said. The Canucks have rarely won more than they've lost, overall. I do not cheer for them because they are a perennially winning team. I cheer for them because they were the team I watched growing up. For me, I have a sense of loyalty towards the team, even if there are parts that I can be critical about. Stating you "have no time for failure" while claiming to be a Canucks fan is just hilarious.
  18. That's a really fair assessment of this team right now. It's not all roses, that's for sure. But there are reasons for being positive. Some people just want to dwell on the negatives and downplay the positives.
  19. Wanna see what confirmation biases look like? Some of the usual posters dig at Benning for the losses, in which the OP clearly talked about a span of 50 years. Benning is only a part of this. But lol at awalk. At least he realises his bias.
  20. I don't think the people who claim to be season ticket holders are representative of all, even they're the most vocal. A team gets a lot of money through advertisement, sponsorships etc. I think Aquilini consulted with the players and they obviously gave the green light for Green to be re-signed. This makes me reflect on my past opinions of him. Also, Benning is still in good favour with the owner. The stability of the business is what I appreciate. There is some evidence that the people do like Benning as an employee, so that's why his job is kept. A leader makes a decision, and doesn't get pressured by others into going with what the mass wants. It's not a democracy when it's a business to an extent.
  21. I would assume Graovac has superceded him at this point. He actually did more during these last few games than Macewen.
  22. Why would he be bought out? Seattle may or may not claim him. And if they don't, he is still serviceable. I would think there are better buyout candidates than him.
