  1. I don't need to be "desperate" to show anything. This is how stupid your post was. And how you fail to address why Calgary is not only doing worse than what I pointed out months ago: here: But now, they're here: So Buzzsaw, your "Has Benning singlehandled turned Calgary into a cup contender?" thread reflects just how irrational you are. No need to shift goalposts like you're doing. You were dead wrong, and it hasn't gotten any better.
  2. If you look at a team like Chicago, you'll inevitably find players that don't work for their team as well. There are years when lots of their draft picks don't pan out. The "success with young players" argument is overstated because of a confirmation bias.
  3. Gaudette was found money, but he was converted into something that could turn into a Motte. It's too early to write off Highmore.
  4. Haha no, they can be biased af, which you already have said. I trust Versteeg's high praise of Highmore. Versteeg even said he's not even thinking about Gaudette lol.
  5. I know it's a Canucks ritual to bash outgoing players, but I saw the 7 minutes he played. He really does seem like a limited dimension type player.
  6. You misinterpreted me. It's one thing to be constructively criticizing an individual. It's another to go full buzzsaw. His emotion was SO over the top that he predicted (wrongly) that Vancouver had just handed Calgary the cup. Pay attention pls.
  7. Is there really a need to argue with people who are too "neanderthal" to look at screenshots that point out that Calgary wasn't a cup contender (as buzzsaw had emphatically claimed)? In addition, he doesn't address any evidence that doesn't support his claims. You can see how he never addressed my previous posts
  8. Lots of good coaches in the AHL. Just because your dahrlen Dahlen (pun intended) didn't make it doesn't mean he was mishandled. He couldn't even make it on San Jose and they could've used their offense lol. They sent him to the AHL. And Dahlen, as we all know, is still playing in the same league.
  9. And yet Calgary is barely a few points ahead of us, and we have the games in hand this time. Your original post was so unbelievably wrong before and your post still isn't any better. It's because I look at the facts that I see your posts are nothing but emotional garbage haha. Like seriously, my screenshot is still up there. Lololol. Calgary cup contending.
  10. Timrafan doesn't seem to understand that north american coaches aren't all neanderthal coaches.
  11. Did you ever have any time for Benning? All I've ever seen you post was anti-Benning trash, like this one.
  12. CDC owes Holtby a huge apology. I saw people saying, "he can't make the timely saves"

But in fairness, he had crapped the bed a few times.

Maybe over the break some of IC's teachings got imprinted firmly? Wouldn't it be sweet if the bloke went full Holtbeast-mode for a number of consecutive months?!

  13. Shinkaruk was already injured by the time Jim took over. He never recovered from that. Gaunce.. he improved only slightly during Jim's tenure, and he ultimately was not NHL calibre, especially since he hasn't been able to advance further with his career after the Canucks. It's really too bad. I do agree. I would've loved to see Jake flourish with another coach. As for Lind, Gadj, Jasek, we never had these calibre of players at any one point under Gillis. All of these are probably middle six players.
  14. No need to apologize. I can understand why my quoted post would seem like a weird post against your post.
  15. I didn't mean for the comment directed AT you, but more like WITH you. Sorry for making it seem like it was the former. I was merely commenting at how this fanbase is whining about our ownership. We have the whiniest fanbase in the league, IMHO.
  16. We have an ownership that is willing to spend, and yet our fans want more. How can an owner NOT be involved? He is the one paying the bills. Of course he'll want his stamp on the team. It's unrealistic to think otherwise.
  17. That's how CDC logic works. Raymond, Ballard and a 2nd will get you a star player. In another thread, the fans will say "Raymond and Ballard SUCK".
  18. Bonino was a decent consolation prize, but he wasn't exactly the entire answer because we lacked a lot of depth. I think the whole Pastrnak thing is overstated though. Even if Benning did have the info, there would most likely be a conflict of interest in such a scenario, not to mention the fact that many teams passed on Pastrnak.
  19. Schroeder to be fair had a monster WJC. Him and Hodgson were thought to be great prospects. It's just weird how these players are tied back to Gillis being unable to draft/develop any players under his regime.
  20. I'm not sure that is entirely fair. We beat Minnesota (making us truly eligible to enter the playoffs). We defeated St. Louis, a team that was previously the Stanley Cup champs the year before. And we forced Game 7 against LV. Canucks made a huge step forward, but I don't think you could fairly say it was a 'lucky' run.
  21. That's totally false. Did you look at the state of the team after Gillis? Are you telling me that an injured Hunter Shinkaruk (probably our best prospect outside of Horvat) would've fetched ANYTHING? Kassian is Kassian. Kesler was worth next to nothing thanks to his list. Benning tried to extract as much value as possible from Anaheim, though both teams ended up losing the trade. Bonino was an okay player, but the Canucks were not really in a position to use his services. Not really a player that you build around as a rebuilding team. We had players like Vey and Chaput as well. I think Gillis left Benning in a near impossible situation for a GM to succeed.
