  1. Players want security. Pearson is obviously a well liked person within the organization. You don't treat your players like $&!# if you want a good reputation around the league. Benning didn't overspend for Pearson and he is very serviceable. Problem is that he's streaky/inconsistent. Keep in mind, Sportsnet 650 may have a reason for crapping on this deal, but will gleefully praise any signing/move that Toronto makes. The bias of sports media has become more and more apparent than ever before.
  2. Like what? Lind is a B tier prospect right now - better than anyone that Gillis had, minus maybe Shinkaruk. And you're still the one to rave about Gillis being a good manager of prospects. LOL.
  3. Terrible take. All reports have said Lind has made huge strides in the AHL, compared to his abysmal first year. He's a VERY young player and is producing Reid Boucher like numbers. Lind has huge potential. Boucher not so much.
  4. Wow, the amount of whining fans on this fanbase is embarrassing. Nothing wrong with 3.25 for 3 years. - Keep in mind: Good friends with Horvat. Keywords: GOOD FRIENDS - He's not a bottom 6 figure. Not sure why people whine about 3 million when he can move up and down the lineup if need be. - They wouldn't have done this deal if they didn't already count for Hughes and Pettersson. COME ON.
  5. No way! He couldn't cut it out in ARZ? Seems like very few players can actually flourish on that team
  6. I know some people are nostalgic about his meteoric ascent to superstardom. I know people think he's human and is allowed to make mistakes. The problem is this: (Source: https://www.cbc.ca/sports/golf/golf-tiger-woods-crash-cause-revealed-1.5978252) The most notorious example was when his SUV ran over a fire hydrant and hit a tree early the morning after Thanksgiving in 2009. That crash was the start of shocking revelations that he had been cheating on his wife with multiple women. Woods lost major corporate sponsorships, went to a rehabilitation clinic in Mississippi and did not return to golf for five months. In May 2017, Florida police found him asleep behind the wheel of a car parked awkwardly on the side of the road. He was arrested on a DUI charge and said later he had an unexpected reaction to prescription medicine for his back pain. Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving and checked into a clinic to get help with prescription medication and a sleep disorder. In the same article... In the weeks after the crash, the sheriff called it "purely an accident" and said there was no evidence of impairment. Villanueva faced criticism for labelling the crash an accident before the investigation had concluded. This is the third time Woods has been involved in a vehicle investigation. Villanueva had previously said detectives had determined the cause of the crash, but he would not release it, citing privacy concerns and a purported need for Woods' permission to divulge information. Documents show that Woods told deputies he did not know how the crash occurred and did not remember driving. At the time of the wreck, Woods was recovering from a fifth back surgery, which took place two months earlier. This same Villaneuva guy now changes his story... Villanueva blamed the Feb. 23 crash solely on excessive speed and Woods's loss of control behind the wheel. The athlete will not face any citations for his third high-profile collision in 11 years. In other words, WHOOPS, MY BAD. - Villaneuva More... Capt. James Powers, who oversees the sheriff's station closest to the crash site, said there was no evidence that the golfer tried to brake and that investigators think Woods inadvertently stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. He was wearing a seat belt at the time, and the SUV's airbags deployed. How the &^@# do you 'inadvertently' do that? This is a mistake that maybe a new driver would make out of panic. This level of incompetence, if we are to assume this to be the case, is unacceptable. Detectives did not seek search warrants for the athlete's blood samples, which could have been screened for drugs or alcohol. However, investigators did search the SUV's data recorder, known as a black box, in the days after the crash. For a crash of this nature, why the &^@# wasn't his blood sample examined? Did he have a heart attack or something to cause this accident? NO. They blame it purely on speeding. Tiger Woods has routinely gotten double standard treatment that regular people don't get. This guy has proven he does not belong anywhere behind the wheel. Yet each and every time, he's given a chance that regular people don't get. &^@# this dude.
  7. http://www.cksn.ca/2021/02/line-change-the-problem-with-tony-deangelo/ This article should put your argument/perspective down. Is there really an agenda from "some girl" when he says stuff that contravenes the established rules? Seems like you're blaming the victims for sensationalizing the story. No wonder why you're defending the people who have said stuff they shouldn't have said in public. If women are a distraction to you, that is not their fault. That is your fault. Blaming someone else for your problem is why this whole thing hasn't been resolved.
  8. We can finally put this to rest. People coming up with stupid and unsubstantiated rumours is part of why we are held back as a species.
  9. It's not that slim of a chance - not something that you can say "yeah the Canucks aren't gonna make the playoffs". Had we not had COVID, our games against CAL/EDM could have been monumental - not to mention the games against OTT. Calgary has been sliding recently, which has benefited us somewhat.
  10. The Canucks are far from statistically eliminated. They're "only" several points away from Montreal. Anyone who says the Canucks have no chance is simply out to lunch.
  11. The strange thing about this is that the young players can finally play.
  12. I don't think that's entirely true. Look at the standings. If we won our Ottawa games, and Montreal lost their games, we could very well leapfrog in the standings. I think, even now, it is still too early to rule out who will make the playoffs or not. Ottawa is doing really well to climb up. They're only 5 points behind us and Calgary. If either had Calgary and Vancouver faltered (ignoring the covid situation) Ottawa could still challenge for a spot, although the likelihood is lower. I think the schedule and COVID has screwed the Canucks badly, more so than any other team.
  13. I think this is a very reasonable post and I truly commend you for setting the example of how to analyze the situation fairly. You are absolutely right that she is not a known anti-masker. We have no proof of that. That being said, the comments she made were regrettable, as you said, and she could have used that opportunity to explain that a) she didn't mean to downplay COVID b) she realizes that she's learned more about the importance of the precautions (whether she is sincere about this or not), and she would've cleared the PR issue. Instead, she doubles down on the situation without addressing what people had brought up. To me, that tells me she doesn't realize what she did wrong, nor does she show the capability of reflecting on her own mistakes. She doesn't want to admit it. She could have handled that with class, but she didn't. That's why people are going even harder against her because she didn't fix things when she did have the chance to do it. I dunno. I'm just very disappointed in her. We will never know if she is patient zero.
  14. It's a bad look because her husband is playing in the NHL and she is picking and choosing what she wants to follow for precautions, which is dangerous. The more precautions you follow, the more risk you mitigate. As it stands, she didn't do everything possible to avoid the disease. The Canucks aren't going to call her out for this because that would be toxic and mess with team cohesion.
  15. No one's saying she's anti-mask because as you said, there's no proof of that. However, it's not a stretch to think that she thinks the COVID situation is in the category of being not so serious. Absolutely there is a hypocrisy because they have their platform to say what they want - much like other podcasters - except the contents of that conversation are subject to scrutiny (just like everyone else). The fact that some (not all) of these Broadcast listeners come to the blind defense of their co-hosts illustrates, as you say, tribalism. There is no intelligence except unquestioned loyalty. I believe she should have addressed the issue by saying she had underestimated the extent of COVID at that point, and while she still might have been criticized for it, at least it shows that she's willing to learn from her mistakes. Right now, she has doubled down on her being 'right'. And that is just foolish. She's part of the same group of people, essentially, who believe COVID isn't that bad and that people will get over it (like Damien Cox). The only reason why some people are changing their tunes from their previous positions is due to public pressure.
  16. No, she won't. She wrote on her twitter that she was allowed to go shopping (which shows that she missed the point). To summarize: She had a choice to minimize risk (precautions). She says: "Yeah, I'm not going to listen to that." Then in response, she says "I was allowed to go shopping. They were not protocols." She's indefensible.
  17. The guy is on twitter calling people out for being trolls. We all know what he actually said though to illicit that response. He said something really stupid, and tried to pretend like he was misunderstood.
  18. She clearly missed the point, even when given the chance to amend herself. It's not that she wasn't ALLOWED to go shopping. It's taking extra precautions (key word: precautions - not the same as restrictions) to AVOID COVID. One of those steps is to wear a mask, for example, but in no way do they guarantee anything. They're just something that can help mitigate the risks, so people like her are more or less EXPECTED to do it, especially given that her husband is dealing with hockey players who absolutely have to be COVID negative. Instead, she decides "Sorry, I'm not going to listen to that." Like, she potentially could be one of those people who could careless ruin the players and families that are now under COVID. I'm not saying she was definitely the one to do it. I'm saying she didn't use due diligence. THAT is the issue. If it were me, I'd follow EVERY SINGLE PRECAUTION as if they were restrictions because that minimizes my chance of getting COVID. She clearly doesn't think the same way.
  19. I agree. If they're not able to do the most basic of tasks, that sounds severe to me as well. But for all those people who STILL think COVID isn't so bad, here's an article from May 2020 on the COVID effects of Georges Laraque, a former NHL player. https://montreal.ctvnews.ca/it-s-insane-georges-laraque-describes-battle-with-covid-19-in-hospital-video-1.4922621 The 43-year-old said he began feeling symptoms last Sunday, at a time he was helping to deliver groceries to vulnerable people in his community. Over the next days, his condition deteriorated. “Now, I can't even get up without losing my breath. It's insane,” he said. “At night, I have fevers. I have to get up to take pills. I wake up in sweats all the time. I'm not the only fighting this. I don't feel sorry for myself. It's okay, this is what happens in life.” Like, come on people. It angers me that people like Micaela can just shrug off precautions because it doesn't convenient her.
  20. https://twitter.com/benkuzma?ref_src=twsrc^google|twcamp^serp|twgr^author Not meaning to contradict your post/link. It's just confusing when there's posts that say the opposite. Hopefully just a misunderstanding. Been told reported number of positive COVID-19 cases with Canucks isn't entirely accurate. The number is under 20. There haven't been severe symptoms. Most experiencing mild headaches, fever, fatigue and lethargy. No reports of vomiting, few with worse symptoms better. #Canucks Also, only one player has received an IV. #Canucks Also been told author stands by the accuracy of this report. (I think he's referring to the Darren Dreger one that you have linked above).
  21. You missed the part where she casually dismissed the precautions sent by the Canucks, I believe. She then goes on to ridicule the precaution (keep in mind, not a regulation, a precaution). If she doesn't think much about a precaution - something she has a choice over, not a regulation - that says a lot about what she thinks about covid. Masks were initially something to use as a precaution. Therefore, it's not a stretch to think that she would not want to use a mask if it's not convenient for her. Another way of looking at this is: she ignores precautions that she doesn't agree with. Not a regulation remember. Something that could mitigate risk and she isn't following that (and is shown to be proud about it). The optics are horrific, given what has happened.
  22. Those effects would be beyond terrible. Certainly there have been stories of people being described as athletic who are so damaged by COVID that they struggle to do the most basic 'athletic' actions, like climbing stairs, etc. That would be ridiculous to imagine if one were to put in their shoes in such a scenario.
  23. I'm sorry, Orange Red and Yellow? 40+ million? all the way to 77 million. There's nothing except colours and I don't see any of the three colours from the screen. LMFAO... it's just a bunch of people bidding because someone else started to bid on it.
