  1. We don't always agree, but some people just don't change regardless of the evidence.
  2. Gender is a difficult concept to understand. There's a ton of grey area on what is "acceptable" or not. Men in general have not treated women well. During this period of resentment, there have been women who have said some pretty sexist stuff about men. This seems to be pretty normal because these behaviours are learned. It's a wake up call for society and for me to see that things are not always what they seem with regards to gender relations. Some women may be happy at a low position, but many women are not. It should no longer be men who tell them where they should go, or what women should do with themselves, including body autonomy. Nobody is perfect. All we can do as people is to just try to be better.
  3. Most people have a lot of growing up to do still and I am including myself here.
  4. Yes, of course. Buble is a world class singer that loves to do the ordinary things.
  5. Hot take: I don't honestly care who is the anthem singer. Elizabeth and Marie do the job just fine. It would be nice to see more diversity (not just from a racial point of view) from singers rather than just one dedicated singer. I doubt they're even paid, but they all should be.
  6. This type of post reminds me about just how bad online messages are. I'll readily admit that my posting tone has involved stirring the pot a bit in the past, something I have been currently trying to work on reducing or getting rid of. The post you are replying to was my attempt to write a reasonable sounding message, but I guess I still failed at that. I think I was agreeing with you, but perhaps my reply to you made it seem like I was disagreeing with you. There is nothing fallacious with saying something is just as traumatic as another event. I don't know what your issue is with that. Your post is pretty incoherent. Or maybe I am just not understanding what you're trying to say.
  7. Trauma is trauma. It's not your job, nor mine, to tell people what is more or less traumatic than the other. Let's face it. We are very privileged compared to most people. This IS a good thing, but we have to be mindful not to let our privilege cloud our judgement on these situations.
  8. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Boeser is going to do MUCH better this offseason. Everyone including himself knew what he needed to work on. These are the things that most, if not all of us, have never had to deal with, especially in such a compressed period of time 1) High level stress, including fan/media criticism 2) A well-loved family member dying in front of you. I'm sure there were lots and lots of discussions about whether he should live or die. That is f**king soul-sucking. This includes the COVID scare. 3) Personal expectations and reality 4) Two major injuries, one of which was potentially career ending. His famous wrist shot is no longer the same as before. And I wouldn't surprised if there were more than these factors.
  9. I agree with some of this, but your defense of Green is quite nonsensical. On one hand, you think he's not responsible for the multiple bad rosters he's been given, all the while crediting him for finding Chiasson, who I agree, was a good pickup. Green should getting blame here, just as much as Benning. You don't get to pick and choose.
  10. This is a lot more balanced of a commentary than much of the reactions online. Trudeau's not gonna get much credit for realizing that the RCMP should not be in charge of municipal policing. It's a dirty job and policing is being thanked less and less for it. I'm by no means saying that all cops are good, nor am I downplaying the disgusting events of police interactions. The RCMP should be focused on the country being safe, while working in tandem with CSIS and other organizations. Bureaucracy is often a subject worth complaining about, but it is impossible for one entity to do it all. There's just not enough people to run this.
  11. He is more likely to get an olive branch somewhere down the road. Let's face it. He'll get a job somewhere, but he'll have to prove his sobriety now.
  12. The important thing to remember he's not guilty and that doesn't mean he's innocent. This is a cautionary tale for anyone. Don't do things without consent and make sure you are with someone that you can trust. You don't want to get accusations against you.
  13. I should've specified that it's better than a 60 k salary, which I think is average (below average in some places).
  14. It's still an above average salary. AHL really doesn't get you rich, but it's an opportunity to showcase what you can do.
  15. I didn't skim your message. The other posters already touched on it, so I didn't think it was worth me repeating what the other people said. The quote dropped probably to "punish" you for haggling with him. Sleazy move.
  16. Because dealers want to make money. They have been notorious with price gouging, especially during COVID. Though not every dealer is outright greedy, remember that they're not in the business for charity. And if you look at it from their point of view, they need the profit to run their business. Lights, drinks (coffee, tea, etc), staff all cost money. Try not to get too caught up with the dealer hate. They are there to make money, not help you. Well, if they do help you, it costs money. And almost everything costs money, except friendship. Some salespeople are honest, most are not.
  17. Asset management. Imagine being like Philly and getting hosed. Haha.
  18. Carolina is in a good spot. They had DeAngelo already. I think they wanted to get rid of him to begin with.
  19. Man, we love picking up trash here. DeAngelo is a good hockey player, but not a very good person. He obviously hasn't learned anything from his time in the league. He's going to get blackballed soon. I'm pretty sure he still thinks COVID is a conspiracy. That doesn't speak very well about someone's intelligence, regardless of how you perceive the dangers of COVID to be.
