  1. Eklund hasn't been relevant for many years. And I'm glad. The guy was a poser insider that siphoned money from people stupid enough to pay him for his 'inside info'. His posts were always cryptic as if he was a disreputable car salesman. He also embarrassed himself on TV by being an 'insider'. He didn't get one deal right, as far as I remember on Sportsnet. LOLOLOL.
  2. And what would your "route" involve? We've seen how EDM has run their team. They have literally been the worst team for the past decade. All they have to show is McDavid. That's it. I don't care if we get one McDavid out of all those high drafts. The fact that their team is crapola is NOT WORTH IT.
  3. WIll JT Miller be up on the stage and say something similar to Smyl saying,"With the 1st pick, the Canucks select from the KHL.. Vasilev Podkloslev"?
  4. Unfortunately, I do believe that the NHL is rigged. It's not the fact that it has anything to do with the Canucks. It's the apparent favouritism towards certain markets. The biggest travesty I think is that the Kovalchuk penalty was VERY light for NJ. They were supposed to sacrifice a 1st round pick (as per the rules, which Bettman later waived for them). Kovalchuk also retired early and miraculously, they do not have to pay for the cap recapture penalty which applies for Luongo's and LA's - even retroactively. Afterwards, NJ suspiciously won two lotteries. Both of which I stress were not because of them being last place. Other teams jumped as many as 10 spots to win high(er) draft picks. Canucks being the ultimate loser of everything lost the Pettersson draft (which worked out in our favour). Lost the draft where we drafted Hughes (we won that also) and finally the 10th overall (Podkolzin). The NHL tries to &^@# with teams not named NYR/Phil/NJ and we come up on top. The hockey gods ARE watching.
  5. They weren't going to let Barrie go for just anything, but Kadri was apparently the best they could do. This is them "maximizing" Barrie's value. Unfortunately, Kadri is a poor trading piece AND they lost Kerfoot in the process.
  6. Thank god Sakic wasn't running the Canucks. Worst GM ever.

@King Heffy Honestly, that trade isn't that hard to do. Most CDCers would've done it because of how straight forward it was. Get rid of a problem player and get a 1st round pick in return. We see this all the time with the proposals.

@Darkstar I would not be surprised at all to see Colorado contend for a cup next year.  Filled a lot of holes and still have the pieces to make a move for a rental if need be.

Have you seen this Avs team. Filled with young talent. Prob win the cup soon.

  7. I'm honestly surprised you'd agree that Sakic got wrecked in this deal, despite being a COL fan. People talk about Benning being bad at trades and FA signings... this is EASILY Sakic's worst transaction. I am just puzzled by how an apparently smart man like Sakic would make such a horrendous, high risk trade such as this that he didn't need to do - AND for KADRI for crying out loud. You guys didn't need Kadri at all. Awful awful trade.
  8. As long as teams like COL assist Toronto with dumping cap, I'm sure they'll get out of this CAP MESS that I guarantee wouldn't have helped Vancouver.
  9. Kinda not really. The fact that Karlsson has a long-term, suspiciously frontloaded contract - the same type of contract that the whole CBA lockout was supposed to be about - was JUST signed. The consequences would be that teams wouldn't be able to afford all their players. However, let's see - New York Rangers signed Panarin for an absurd 11.5 million. Big market team. Seems to be able to spend as much money as they need to do. Not parity. Who else? Philadelphia with Kevin Hayes. Another big market team. Hmm... New Jersey was just gifted two high first round picks. Not a big market team? They used to not be a big market team, but that was many years ago. They signed a HUGE Kovalchuk contract (which they were later allowed to get out of) proving that they are NOT as small market as they might portray themselves to be. The only "parity" that you talk about is Las Vegas and to some extent Seattle picking up players from other teams.
  10. Leafs aren't in a good position but COL just helped them out. Kerfoot is on a pretty cheap contract AND has produced 40 points for two years in a row. He is pretty much proven at this point at only 24 years old. Barrie is a bit of a glass cannon but he's going to make the Leafs better offensively. Yes, he'll be UFA afterward which is a risk but I'm sure Toronto won't have trouble attracting him to stay. I can't believe I'm actually defending Toronto here. They are the clear winners. Sakic did a really high risk trade and they didn't need to. They better hope Kadri cleans up his act.
  11. Rosen's not that bad. He's on the cusp of being NHL ready, which is about what you'd expect for a defenseman at his age (25). His AHL stats are pretty good. Then again, he could turn out to be Clendenning. Nobody knows. Either way, Toronto sheds some much needed cap and gets rid of a dummy from their roster. Really bad trade for COL IMO. Probably Sakic's worst trade.
  12. He's going to report if he's thrown there. It's just professionally stupid not to do it.
  13. I usually agree with you, but you couldn't be more wrong about "aging prospect". Kerfoot's 24 years old and has produced 40+ points in the last two seasons. How many players did we have that did that, let alone an 'aging prospect'? But I do agree with you. Toronto wins this trade. They got rid of Kadri. Why would Colorado do this trade? Very high risk.
  14. I should've split them up. I think it's ironic that both teams have a Karlsson. Very very unintentional oversight on my part.
  15. I agree. I also think it's a great day to be a Canucks fan because... (Summarized by @naslund.is.king very nicely here) naslund.is.king Every Canadian team had a horrible day TO Spezza,Ceci, Edmonton:Found a Rattie replacement. Calgary:Got swept by Colorado and Talbot is their big pickup? Winnipeg: lost Myers,Trouba,Tanev,Chiarot? Ottawa:Still owned by Melnyk Mtl: Offer sheeted Aho,which will likely be matched Basically our divisional rivals, with exception to Colorado, didn't improve in any sort of way. EDM/CAL have the same roster (EDM has Granlund for 1.3 mill), also picked up Mike Smith (formerly with Calgary). Sharks and Golden Knights are the other two teams that are usually threatening, but SJ signed Karlsson to that overpriced contract and have let go of key players like Pavelski and (soon to be Thornton). Golden Knights remain the same. Given how many times we play these divisional rivals, most of these should be pretty easy points. We should be at the very least in a playoff position.
  16. Canucks will never get the respect in sports media. Toronto out of all teams that probably did the least effective of moves had a lot of coverage.

@naslund.is.king I was going to start a new topic about this but I'll include your comment in the thread.

As you say that, they get Kerfoot and Barrie. Damn.

  17. You said it yourself. You gotta do what you gotta do. The miller trade had to happen to make use of Boeser/Pettersson.
  18. I'd take Tanev over Hutton if i had to choose. A fill-in for Tanev is better than what Hutton can bring.
  19. I think this thread just shows how petty our fans are.
  20. Jesus people... You guys want a guy who signed an offer sheet from another team? AND you want to trade Boeser for him? He's a loyal character from what it seems like. No, no no. Just no. Loyalty goes a LONG way.
  21. He's a guy originally from the Boston Bruins organization AND was a North Dakota Fighting Sioux alumni. I have no doubt that our American scouts had identified him as a guy who could have a lot of potential. We have several college players in our system that are basically free products. Why not?
  22. Seems like you make A LOT of topics with one-line posts that don't contribute much to the discussion. Part of me sees your avatar as the face you make when people go "omg... another koregen thread" But to avoid going off topic. I think management did a good job. It's just that it's already been discussed in other threads.
  23. It's all good. I didn't realize Oscar Fantenberg was going to get rich so fast!
