At 26, he is getting his first taste of North American ice with the L.A. Kings and AHL Ontario Reign. Fantenberg is from Ljungby, a small town in the south of Sweden. He began his advanced development at home in 2007, in the IF Troja-Ljungby organization. At age 16, he split his first season between their 18U and 20U teams. The next year, he tore it up at both age levels, earning himself a 3-game stint with IF Troja-Ljungby’s men’s team, who played in the Allsvenskan (Sweden’s tier-2 pro league). At the end of the 2008-09 season, Fantenberg signed with HV71, one of Sweden’s storied hockey franchises. His strong play with their 20U team earned him another 3 games in the pros, this time in the SHL. He also played 4 more games in the Allsvenskan while on loan from HV71 to nearby IK Oskarshamn, during which time he scored his first career pro goal. HV71 would continue to loan Fantenberg to the Allsvenskan over the following two seasons, but only ever to his hometown team, IF Troja-Ljungby. He only played a total of 21 games on loan across both seasons, and split the brunt of his time between HV71’s pro team and their 20U squad. Then in 2012-13, at the age of 21, he stuck with the big club for a full campaign. A year later he was named one of the team’s alternate captains, already being recognized for his leadership qualities at a young age. After two straight disappointing finishes with HV71, Fantenberg signed with Frölunda HC in April of 2014, who were on the rise at the time and appeared poised to win a championship. They did so two seasons later in 2015-16, with Fantenberg serving as an alternate captain and playing a crucial role as a reliable rearguard. His play also earned him a spot on Sweden’s World Championship roster that May. All of this success brought Fantenberg to the next big step of his career: a one-year contract with HK Sochi of the KHL. The team came up just short of a playoff spot, finishing in 9th place in the Western Conference. But Fantenberg transitioned seamlessly to the KHL, and L.A.’s pro scouts clearly took notice of his abilities. Fantenberg has looked very solid in his time in the NHL this year, and only seems to be building off his climb through the professional ranks. It seems likely that he will continue to grow into a reliable NHL defenseman. (Peter Oundjian, EP 2018) -

[Signing] Jordie Benn signs with Canucks
Dazzle replied to CanucksCountry's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Burying him in the minors is a nice way to treat disgruntled players that decide to handcuff the team with his comments - and then refuse to answer Benning's calls. -
We could use a lot of playoffs
-
Seems like the type that would let anything between the legs...

I really liked how his character was on full display here. Sounds like a good kid with incredibly high work ethic. One thing he mentioned was becoming good friends with Michael Dipietro. Another character guy. Keppen's going to make the NHL - i have no doubt about it.

[Signing] Jordie Benn signs with Canucks

Yes, he has carved himself a career doing sports. However, I do believe he has become the TMZ of the sports world, instead of what he used to be like. The fact that Dhaliwal said that Edler was leaving already shows how much he's changed as a reporter. -
[Rumour] Canucks inquired about Sabres defenceman

Did you see Madden and Hughes playing in the U-20s? We only have limited viewings of them play so far so I'm referring to their performances as evidence of their greatness. -
[Buyout] Canucks buy out Ryan Spooner

Bettman is an easy target to boo. In reality, the owners are two faced beasts. -
That's not true at all. I distinctly recall one poster wanting to fire Benning for trading away the 1st round pick to acquire Miller, even if Miller might one day lead us to a cup. Everyone wants to see a Stanley Cup parade, while trading away junk pieces to acquire high-end pieces, a la NHL 19. That is a more accurate statement for all of CDC, at least.

You should've been permabanned for your post. I definitely remember you posting the Corey Perry trade too. I mean if Ukranian_Canuck gets banned as long as he did, so should you.

If that was the case, maybe that scout should've been hired. -

Well Benning was the one who gave the credit to Delorme so... it's not Kuzma's fault that that happened. Based on what you said, maybe Delorme himself took credit for someone else's work, but that is a very serious charge and I'm not prepared to make this accusation without some kind of proof. The 'guy' you keep talking about doesn't even seem to be employed by the Canucks. -

No, that is incorrect. Credit was given to Delorme when Benning literally said “Ronnie saw him early and was a loud voice for him right from the start — even before any of us saw him,” I'm not sure at all how you can say what you said above. -
It's a qualifying offer, not a contract. Hutton therefore becomes UFA, which allows Hutton to talk to other teams. However, I think he'll make every opportunity to re-sign with the Canucks. After all, Virtanen is one of his best friends here and I'm sure Hutton understands that he doesn't deserve an unjustified raise to 3-4 Mill. He can either go to another team or he can re-sign with the Canucks for a fairer price.

I don't know about the The Hockey News source, but I quoted a passage from Ben Kuzma (or Ken Buzma as I was about to type) from the Province. I mean... Benning could be giving Delorme credit because of blackmailed material, as the conspiracy theorists like to claim due to the fact that he has survived ALL the regime changes... I think at this point, we are better off just accepting that Delorme isn't garbage. -
I don't think it's awkward at all. If you look at the comparables, Hutton does not look good with 4 Mill. It'd be actually AWKWARD if he got it and came into the room performing like has for the past couple of years.
-
I don't think Vancouver likes what Hutton can get through RFA Arbitration, hence they don't qualify him so that the team can re-negotiate a fairer contract. I don't think anyone here (including Hutton) believes he deserves 4M. Hutton will re-sign with the Canucks with a better cap hit. I'm sure of it.

Let's put this to rest. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ben-kuzma-petterssons-smarts-skill-and-will-became-perfect-package-for-canucks I thought (wrongly) that Delorme was incompetent, but clearly I was wrong. -
[Report] Morrow and Beaulieu Not Qualified
Dazzle replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think their team doesn't like the arbitration value so they'll re-negotiate another contract with them.
