  1. I don't get your sales pitch. In your words, we don't want him because he's small and we have Hughes (making him redundant)? Why would they want him then if you shortchange him like that? It doesn't matter what you say afterward about him being quick etc. Terrible sales pitch.
  2. It's one thing where you take drugs as a lifestyle and the usage doesn't affect those around you. It's another when drugs are costing you everything - and all you care about is your next fix. It's a medical problem at that point - and should be treated as such. Criminalizing it won't change anything for these people. Why make taxpayers pay for stopping slowing them down from buying drugs?
  3. I'm sure JB learned a lesson about gambling like that for sure. But he was unlucky. Philly was hoarding goaltenders because they had injury issues of their own.
  4. No it's definitely not cheaper. Legalizing it is cheaper than jail + hospital, with hospital being the most expensive. Aside from hospitals having limited capacity, you need to hire full time doctors/nurses, both of which if you haven't noticed, are in short supply. The health care system is stressed as it is. Now you're going to add in thousands of freeloaders (people who can't pay for hospital care because of their choices) and guess who pays for it? Taxpayers.
  5. You do realize that the situation didn't happen exactly as you said. The goalies got injured and then it fell to Dipietro to be the one to save the sinking ship. Yes it was unfortunate, but it was also that - unfortunate. Why in the hell are people still talking about the one game where Dipietro lost at home against the offensively talented Sharks in his very first NHL game?
  6. I'm not disagreeing with you on the legalization issue. How about people from North America stop buying it? (It is completely unrealistic to ask this; it is a rhetorical question). Most of the customers are from this side yet we waste money on the "war on drugs", so we are essentially throwing away our own money. Also, Ecstasydata.org is a non-profit, harm reduction company that does your drug testing at a minimal cost (still pretty expensive, but you either pay 100 something dollars or you pay for your time in the hospital, kinda a nobrainer). Results are posted on the site for people to see. If you see the results, it may scare you into not doing them because you really don't know what's in it. If you're going to do it, at least TEST the drugs first. https://www.ecstasydata.org/
  7. Unlike your joke of a proposal, this is actually a well thought out post. Fair to say his injuries should be a concern. Yet despite all this, Juolevi, if healthy, is projected to be a good defenceman. You're right that he'll be forever compared to the Tkachuk/Serg draft. But that doesn't mean he won't do good things this season. He had 13 points in 18 AHL games for his first year, prior to getting injuries. Those are very solid numbers. Above all, Salo has said that Juolevi has improved in areas that he needed to be (paraphrasing), but insisted that Juolevi still would need a SOLID summer packed full of offseason workouts in order to be competitive in the NHL. I believe he'll come around. If you look at his accomplishments, he is a WINNER at every level. He's a memorial cup winner; he's an OHL cup winner; and he's won GOLD for Finland. Those are phenomenal credentials.
  8. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/195952/ty-ronning 2016 round 7 #201 overall by New York Rangers This is the Ronning I was referring to. He was drafted shortly after Abols.
  9. I guess we'll never know what goes on in the decision making for these players, both on the management level and at the ice one. From what I see, and this could be off-base, they got impatient with a 7th rounder (lol). It's probably not a monumental mistake, but I think it is a mistake not giving this guy a chance. A 7th round pick is a longggg shot, I'm well aware, but he is still a player.
  10. Although Rodrigo is not a particularly strong prospect, I think we gave up on him way too early. He was a 7th round pick and was picked over Ronning, which made this pick even worse. That being said, I have no idea how good/bad Ronning is doing now.
  11. Whatever makes you feel better. I do like how called me a "little man", which I assume makes you think you are bigger than me. Whether I'm small or not is irrelevant, this is Haydn Fleury's stats. Practically one entire season with Carolina and hasn't scored an NHL goal yet. LOL. Him being a 7th overall pick is a big reason for why you think he's going to be an offensive dynamo, am i right? The joke's on you. 2016-17 Charlotte Checkers AHL 69 7 19 26 8 16 5 0 0 0 0 2017-18 Carolina Hurricanes NHL 67 0 8 8 14 -2 -- -- -- -- -- 2017-18 Charlotte Checkers AHL 3 1 1 2 0 3 8 2 2 4 14 2018-19 Carolina Hurricanes NHL 20 0 1 1 2 4 9 0 0 0 2 2018-19 Charlotte Checkers AHL 28 2 8 10 32 0 6 2 2 4 4
  12. Exactly. Unless you test positive with the drug in your system, seeing someone do cocaine is not illegal. You do not have to report it either.
  13. Where did you hear that he's not re-signing? Even Karlsson says he would like to stay but it depends on different factors (paraphrasing)
  14. I'm a little shocked that we don't have as much cap space as I thought we would.

I don't get it, how much did you think we had? $30m is a $&!# load of space.

I have a ball cap & the tag underneath says, "One size fits most!" I'm glad someone in a Chinese factory kept a sense of ha..so yeah(let's not digress!), stay modest & don't get a big head, eh?!

  15. It is bad. We throw away two offensive threats on our team for a defenceman that doesn't score - or hasn't scored yet. LOL. Come on. You can't be that dumb, are you?
  16. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/119392/haydn-fleury Are you serious? That would be a total rip off for us. Stop acting like his 7th overall status means something now. It doesn't. He's a 22 year old defenceman that hasn't shown much in the league so far.
  17. I agree with most of what you said. Social media has made it 'glamorous' to do stuff. From Tide Pod challenges to Dancing beside your car that is in motion, people of all ages are doing stupid stuff. I also think that blaming solely the media is short-sighted. Maybe all kids should be shown a class on the topic of consequences. Things that they might think about doing but could end up badly. Sure, a lot of maturity is needed to get to the stage of saying no to stuff, but not everyone matures quickly, if ever.
  18. At some point, there is a sense of personal responsibility. Sometimes we are dealt really bad hands. Sometimes people get dealt really good hands. That is life. Life is what you make of it.
  19. Unpopular opinion, they should've been tried as adults. They need some serious rehab time.
  20. My point is that you have commented a lot about him, despite not knowing much about the team he plays on. You said he is a 4 million dollar player, which I would assume is YOUR arbitrary assessment of what a player like that (production wise, ~40-50 pts) goes for. Anyway, it's fine to have a different opinion. You just have to back it up - and I don't feel you did.

  22. You never know until you drink... Anyone, to avoid derailing thread, I think it's nice to see competition being more even. The Swiss have improved a lot. Canada barely squeaked by them. The Swiss used to be a team that you'd run over despite their "defensive" style of play. Finland didn't used to be as good as Sweden.
  23. You are the next Twilight/Alf for drinking.
  24. Not sure why you bash this guy when you haven't watched enough Isles hockey to comment. LOL. 10 periods of Isles hockey over the last couple of years? Are you kidding me? What do you mean is he a great defender? If you bothered to even LOOK at the stats, even if you don't watch the team, you would see Nelson is among the highest of +/-. There are 9 players total with around +/- 20. Some are 18, one is 22. He is 20. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/NYI/2019.html So yes, he is a very good all-round player, in relation to all the players on his team, on a playoff NYI team.
