  1. Of course, the wife wants to keep the settlement and everything to herself. She could EASILY pay for the kids, given her enormous payout, but of course, the dad has to pay for it.
  2. None of these are as good as Pettersson though, except maybe Suzuki (not points wise, but overall game)
  3. Everyone says that the Naslund trade was fantastic. Alex Stojanov was a terrible 1st round pick. Tough as nails, yes, but a terrible pick. The fact that Pittsburgh traded for Stojanov is legendary. But somehow the Miller trade was still a 'bad' one for Canucks for some people. They'd rather re-invent their narratives to justify a bias. You can still see people talking about the previous GM and he apparently did the team wrong, lol.
  4. Nope. He's not McDavid good. Moreover, there was another player - Jonathan Huberdeau @ 8 years 84 million... he's better than Miller stats wise, even more so last season.
  5. I heard about this story a long while ago. Don't know why he thought he could get away with it.
  6. I'm not 'writing off the group' though. The hypocrisy is really with the fanbase. Despite the criticisms that the defense has never been "good enough", and the fact that Poolman "sucks" and all that, JR has now come around to say that the defense is in fact good enough, and that Poolman is a very good one. Of course, this could be a PR message, rather than a factual one, but this begs the question about what the new group has decided. No movement at the TDL, and no movement at the draft. Not only are we keeping the status quo (which was deemed not good enough), we are going to sign Miller long term, which essentially repeats the same "criticisms" that Benning faced. I'm sure Miller will be good, but it's hypocritical that people say they don't want players signed beyond 35+ long term, yet we are locking players up and not having any space to do anything else.
  7. I'm not putting him on a pedestal. The problem is that the SAME criticisms about Benning are not being transferred equally over to a management that is largely replicating what happened last season.
  8. We really should reflect how 'good' our GM is. We are almost exactly where we left off, minus one bigger ticket free agent in Mikheyev (I don't mind this signing at all), and Kuzmenkov (completely unproven, but I don't hate it either). The rest of the roster is the same. Remember how we were told that our defense sucked? Well, we haven't improved that at all since Allvin took over. We also spent money without offloading anyone. We are supposedly trying to sign Miller when we could've given ourselves time to re-tool around this core. The same narratives that were launched against Benning have miraculously vanished when it comes to JR/Allvin, who has retained Benning's roster almost to a tee. Hell, even Poolman, who is CDC's whipping boy, was praised by JR himself. Just amazing how much bias this fanbase has.
  9. Reality check: JR/Allvin have done little to improve the supposed issues of Benning's rosters. Now we're saying that JR/Allvin are awesome? The amount of bias is ridiculous. I don't know how you can't see this. Calgary has just signed a proven free agent for 7 million. We are still spinning tires in the mud about signing Miller when we could've freed up that cap space (sold high) to fix the other parts of the roster. We just somehow can't let go of the status quo - the same 'problematic' status quo that Benning was found guilty of.
  10. For all the crap that Calgary got for this offseason, this is how you clear space AND make changes. JR/Allvin have a lot of work to do before they should be praised. We are sitting ducks.
  11. Janet Gretzky is super sketchy. I believe she was involved in that gambling thing down when Wayne was in Arizona. Janet seems like a bad person to be around because she's always getting herself into business trouble.
  12. Actually, there's no concern. Truscott's favourite player, for what it's worth, is said to be Quinn Hughes.
  13. That's a pretty bad excuse, considering they did nothing during TDL, nor the draft, with respect to Miller. Are they seriously going to re-sign him, despite the fact that there's next to no space? The leverage they had is weakening. If they could unload Miller for some top prospects, plus draft picks, they can use the space to upgrade the depth from top to bottom.
  14. It sounds to me like you're hoping for one of these depth guys to fill in in a top four role. If so, I don't think De Haan is your answer. The biggest complaints so far have been that the defensive core (as a whole) needs reworking. Think of it this way. If a car is in need of repairs, we have to see what is the most broken. You'll probably look at the engine first, and then work your way out. Right now, picking and choosing the depth is like picking and choosing tires. Sure, it will have an effect on ride quality, but is it REALLY addressing the issue of the car?
  15. Yet money is limited and it's not addressing a supposed issue with the defense. People (and the media) have been whining about this defensive core not being good enough, so what does JR/Allvin do? Nothing. I guess the defense isn't really an issue - it was just a low hanging fruit when complaining about the previous regime lol.
  16. I think believing the staff is more important than your continued skepticism.
  17. What philsophy? We haven't seen anything so far. This team is still the same as before, minus two unproven (thus far) players. Miller still hasn't been traded, so we don't know at all if he'll re-sign him long term or not. You're seeing stuff that just isn't there yet.
  18. Our prospect pool is definitely better than what some people will admit it to be. Although these players may or may not necessarily be NHLers, Truscott, a late round gamble, is showing that he's a pretty good pick so far.
  19. I think this is a bigggg stretch. There are a lot of question marks about how much of an improvement this actually is, considering our PK wasn't that bad (under Boudreau). The changes will be about what you'd expect from last year.
