Let's see what Trudeau can do - but the Conservatives really needed to be kicked out like they did. They were a stale party, desperately clinging onto power that they no longer deserved to have.

you sure about that... it was the liberals that screwed things up in the first place... what was that oh the budget will balance it self out... thats what a kid tells his or her parents when they don't have a budget....you can be guaranteed one thing more taxes on you pay cheque and less child care benefits. ya for the rich people...

Regardless of what party you may support, the Conservatives ran a really bad campaign. They did not deserve to win whatsoever and they were in the media for all the wrong reasons.
As I said, they tried to cling onto power but their support was clearly diminishing.
The budget was 'balanced' because the government decided not to spend money to maintain an election promise, not because they were gurus at managing money.
As I said, it's too soon to say if Trudeau will do a good job, but Harper really needed to go. His government was not truly representing Conservative ideals. For starters, we never 'muzzled' Canadian scientists in the past over climate change.
