  1. You'll change your tune when you see him. This guy is a turnover machine. You think you guys hate Myers? I do remember Dangle being consistently frustrated with Lilgrin....
  2. Chiasson is a pretty nice guy in the locker room. Does he do much? Not really, but he's starting to chip in here and there. He's also really cheap, so there's that. I think there's no need to make a trade for the sake of making one, even with a guy like Chiasson who's been a whipping boy from day 2.
  3. I do find it especially glaring that certain posters who normally come out for Canucks losses don't appear when they win. They might say they don't want to look like pom-poms, but it's a bit hilarious that they're more than happy to criticize whenever there's an opportunity...
  4. Steve Dangle is surprisingly fair with his takes about other teams, and he's a huge fan of TO. On the other hand, people like Drance don't know how to keep their biases in check.
  5. Are we still wondering if the 1st for Miller trade is still an overpayment? I thought fans here think that Benning sucks at trading/acquiring people? Benning left this team in a pretty good spot, but of course, the people who hated Benning will naturally praise JR for keeping the team intact. There's so much hypocrisy in the anti-Benning slant, that even someone who sees faults in both Benning/Green that we could be thought of as Benning bros. Truly dishonest takes from certain fans.
  6. Yes! Thomas Drance needs to be exposed for what he is. He ain't a fan. This dude just spews toxic, negative takes (not all the time), and then tries to justify it with "stats". Drance also praised Green when it was pretty undeserved. Pretty ironic that stats doesn't really support Green's tenure as coaching, considering he hasn't had a winning one. (Yes, he was also not a winning coach the year of the bubble rush, in terms of win to loss ratio).
  7. Well, considering that it's still Benning's roster that is on display, the same one that was considered "poorly constructed" (according to Craig Button), I think Benning left us with a pretty workable team. Button goes on to say that BB plays to the team's strengths, which actually implies that Benning had a purpose for the team to score. Why is there so much slant against Benning when credit is due, but so much praise for Green when it's undeserved? (The latter situation is largely not the case anymore, but the former is certainly still true). The issue is and was obviously Green, which is also, to an extent, part of Benning's responsibility. It's obvious that some posters can find the fault of a former GM much more so than the fault of other people. This bias is pretty sickening really.
  8. Quite a few people have already acknowledged that the Canucks had a slow start. There's been some questions, however, about how badly the team wants the 2 points over Tampa Bay. For example, the PPs that we did have, especially the end, involved some bad passing. So on one hand, the Canucks did lose because of "bad bounces". It's also true that the Canucks were screwed on the PP, perhaps they were waiting for an "even up" call, rather than trying to earn one. Lastly, aside from Miller, Horvat, and Motte, was there anyone else that did anything impactful? There's more to this than reffing, but we can't ignore the reffing entirely.
  9. I don't think this is a great example. No one can legitimately argue that Kotkaniemi was worth 6 mill. Even now, he's not worth 6 mill. So why would his QO be 'higher' when the signing was understood by all parties, including himself, to be a massive overpayment at the beginning? This is not really relevant to Boeser.
  10. Who wants Myers over this guy? I do. It's not even close.
  11. Yeah, I really thought we had a good lineup this year. Then preseason and the first season games happened. I honestly think that one reason that TG was supposedly respected around the league because he kept telling the media that "that's a good team over there". Does anyone still think that Green brought out the most of his rosters? This was a false narrative that was propagated by the media. People like Craig Button, who Donnie commonly brought on his show, had been praising Green for doing all that he could with a "poorly built" roster. (In his words)
  12. It's the exact same roster as what Green had. How do you explain how we lost so much at the beginning of the season with the full lineup? I think a few of us had realized earlier on that the coaching was a huge issue, but still people don't admit it (for whatever reason). The media, for example, was SO defensive of Green, blaming it on the roster itself. It's clear that Benning didn't make very many friends outside of his administration.
  13. If one were to follow the narratives of some Canucks fans, every trade would've been perceived as a loss. Holy hell did people bitch about the Miller trade. We don't see those people repeating this though. Safe to say, the 1st round pick for Miller was completely worth it. Benning won this trade.
  14. I've said this before and I'll say again; this team was supposed to be decent on paper (and was the best iteration out of all the rosters). However, Green was never able to showcase what his teams could do. Boudreau is really showing what Benning had in mind. Safe to say that Coach Green won't be coaching in the NHL for quite a while. He's not a good coach, despite the praise that he gets from the media, namely Thomas Drance and Craig Button.
  15. This is not sustainable, and you'll end up having a bland product, just like when Gillis got fired. So yes, Gillis' failed drafting IS part of this discussion. If he had drafted worth a damn, the Canucks could continue their runs.
  16. Oh, so you can talk about prospects, but I can't? Nice gatekeeping.
  17. Gillis' biggest failure is on the draft/development end, and you seem to have zero understanding of that impact. There's only three picks that were relevant to that regime - one of which was Horvat, which involved messing up the Luongo/Schneider. Do you realize just how screwed the Canucks were, prospect wise? Any GM coming in would have nearly no assets to sell off. Kesler was a player that was clearly on the decline, which also had the problem of the NTC which he held for only one team. Yikes. The Canucks were a bad team because of a team's cycle, yes, but Gillis did not refill the prospect pool. Any excuse about him being a "winner" can be countered by the fact that his picks were garbage.
  18. The fact that you're trying to compare Milbury with Benning makes your opinion invalid. Objectively, there is no comparison. Zero.
  19. Putin's forces are shooting his people, perhaps accidentally, and this will not be forgotten by his victims. His police is already arresting peaceful protestors, and I wouldn't be surprised if the police becomes more and more like the Gestapo.
  20. Huh? You can want something, but you might not get it. It doesn't mean he didn't try hard enough. What's with this spin?
  21. This player's pretty impressive. What a great trade. It's kinda strange that the only player from this roster that is underperforming is Dickinson. The rest are flourishing quite nicely under Boudreau.
  22. Detroit's stinging after losing Hughes, so they take Juolevi, I guess.
  23. Pretty dumb quote. Every GM has pretty much missed one first round pick in their tenure. It's the overall picks that matter. Benning has overall drafted better than all other GMs, whether it is the first round or otherwise. We never had a prospect pool this deep. Never.
  24. Green had this team near the bottom with Seattle. Using the exact same roster under Boudreau, the team crawled their way close to a playoff spot. This is a story akin to St. Louis of 2018. This was the last Benning team, and it looks like it just needed decent coaching.
  25. Yes. If we look back at the decent sample size under Green, we don't see a winning record, regardless of the rosters that he (Green) helped assemble. Yes, he had a voice in all those rosters. And we see poor results, including this season, of which the roster is completely intact. Green is not an NHL calibre coach.
