  1. Well, it doesn't look like we are winning this trade so far, so people are whining. This forum always has someone complaining about something. It's hilarious.
  2. This fanbase is pretty fickle. You look around the league and people generally feel sad about a player leaving via trade. When a Canucks player goes on waivers, it's either "good riddance" or "wtf Benning". Sometimes it's "wtf Green" Then again, it also makes you wonder about certain posters mindlessly bashing certain people... You know, Poolman... I guess fantasy hockey pools don't always cover the poolmen well.
  3. San Jose is also winning with Dahlen in the lineup... And no Kane.
  4. Given its enduring popularity, I wouldn't be surprised if the new jersey redesign will revolve around this flying skate. After all, the team does get a significant amount of money from merchandising.
  5. Bizarro NHL season so far.

      allegend

So true. Several of the supposed top teams are losing, and many

of the weaker teams have gotten off to good starts.

    2. Undrafted

      Undrafted

Small sample size.  If you look at the leaders in SV% on the NHL stat page, it reads like you're in an alternate universe.  The first month of every new season is funny like that.

    3. Coconuts

      Coconuts

It's interesting, but it probably won't last

Teams like Buffalo, San Jose, and Ottawa should fall back to earth

An injury to McDavid, Smith, or Draisaitl and Edmonton could too

  6. Wut. CDC was never really nice. Old CDC had a bunch of 'veteran' posters who insulted others all day long, and the mods would let it slide. To be fair, I think the mods nowadays have let quite a bit of stuff slide...
  7. Well played, Frank. This deserves a celebration...
  8. Seattle's not a great team, a poorly constructed one. I really wonder if any of the players being sent down by Seattle are either not good enough in the NHL, or they just look bad on that team.
  9. I wonder if Schmidt had weird views about Covid. How could his relationship sour so much like it did?
  10. Lind has done nothing for Seattle. What an awful pick from Seattle. They were better off with Gadj, or any other player we made available really. Big brains Francis lol
  11. I do agree. Having guns should never be considered a 'right', but a privilege. And people who have guns must live by a higher standard, which includes how weapons should be handled/stored. When a gun is misused regardless if they're a gun owner or not, they should face the same penalties as if they are a gun owner. Simply saying they didn't know is not an excuse. And if it's a minor that used it, the parents should be penalized as if they had a negligent discharge.
  12. Hockey Gaud wasn't the right Gaud; he can barely make an impact on a new team with Chicago.
  13. I don't want to bash my team, but with the way we've been playing so far, I think "100 percent" is an aspirational figure, not a practical one. :/
  14. I like Rathbone. He brings a unique dimension that we don't have - offensive defenseman. That being said, he was a liability in the preseason and he's a liability right now. There's NO REASON to rush him. He's not getting that many minutes either right now. Why did Green have to push for him to be in the lineup? Juolevi would've done just fine in this spot. That being said, I like Lamikko. He's a useful player.
  15. Seriously, what did people expect with that lackluster preseason? I thought the Canucks had a lot of bad luck last game in Detroit, but this game was very much winnable. The non-call by the ref did change the momentum, but once again, the team loses when they get outshot badly. (Yes they still lost even outshooting Detroit badly). But unlike last game, this game had no good feeling to it. Too much passing and not enough shots on net. Dowling is doing really well on this team though.
  16. Uh no. They missed a blatant trip in a 2-2 game which eventually led to a goal against. If refs didn't have game management, this game should've been called fairly.
  17. This was primarily Green and his roster decisions. It's also on Benning too, but I'm not happy about Green's preseason.
  18. A trade could still happen. That would be something. Nvm, might be too much money.
  19. I don't understand the hate. Petan produced in the preseason. Chiasson didn't. Petan got no chances in the season. Chiasson got way too many. I don't hate Chiasson, but the way Green utilizes his players is head scratching. I thought for sure he would put Petan in his lineup because he was a former Winterhawk.
  20. Remember when those guys said Poolman was the signing that made Benning look 'incompetent'? Yeah, those very same fans are on this board, cough, AV, are trying to move away from those asinine comments. They were so vocal about this, and it's funny that none of them actually cared about reading the whole story about the player because they only focussed on the perceived bad parts. That is bias. Poolman has been a great signing so far - one that was actually promoted by Brad Shaw, the defensive guru. Maybe he knows what he's doing. It's a shame those people who criticized the signing won't admit how ignorant they were about the player. It's funny also that they have avoided this thread lol.
  21. Wait, so if Chychrun broke out with OEL in the lineup, you've been implying that he superceded OEL. Coincidentally when OEL is out, among other players, Chychrun is now suffering because of the team? You can't make excuses in one case, but solely blame a player like OEL in the other. In both cases, AZ has a crappy team. Maybe OEL did more for the team than previously credited...?
  22. The small sample size this season so far says a lot about how Chicago views him. He only had 8 mins of ice time last game. Stop pumping Gaudette's tires. He is a borderline NHL player, which is in fact a good pick when taking into account where he was drafted. Full stop. Is he an elite player? No. Gaudette is a serviceable player, but he has plenty of holes in his game to fill if he hopes to stay around in the league. He didn't score when he was with us last year, and he doesn't do well on any other lines. Also, for a center, he does poorly on faceoffs. So he is realistically only useful as a wing. What we're seeing is a one-dimensional (or limited dimensional) player who was drafted for his scoring, which he can't seem to reproduce in the NHL. He had no value at the time of the trade, otherwise any idiot GM can just pick up something valuable like a 2nd rounder. He obviously was only worth a 4th liner, or worse. I think Highmore is a better option than some 5th or 6th round pick.
